Random headcanons on the Weston boys
Okay since Weston anime is out, I’ll be sharing some headcanons I’ve collected during 10+ years of being obsessed with this saga and its characters.
I’ve been so invested into these headcanons that I consider them to be canon at this point. Anyway please don’t be mad if they don’t match your personal headcanon, it’s still my own interpretation and silly ideas about characters that don’t belong to me so anyone can disagree.
First I’m gonna write down the ones that involve more than one character, then I’ll be more specific and list them by character.
Brace yourselves for a pile of totally self-indulgent blabbering.
Lawrence and Edgar are canonically childhood friends (Yana confirmed it), I like to think they grew up together thanks to therir mothers being best friends with each other.
While Lawrence and Edgar already knew each other since birth, they met Herman and Gregory during their first year at Weston.
Because of the rivalry, friendship between students from different dorms has always been rather frowned upon, so the boys decided to put all their efforts in becoming the best students of their respective dorm to one day become Prefects and be free to meet and be friends without being judged by other students.
To freely chat and keep in contact prior to becoming P4, they secretly exchanged letters hidden among the library’s textbooks.
While we know Lawrence has 7 sisters, Edgar and Herman don’t have any sibling, while Gregory has an older brother. He’s doesn’t talk about him often as they’re not very close and don’t get along well.
Gregory met Cheslock while he was at his 3rd year (Cheslock is one year younger). They often spent their free time in their dorm’s common room, Cheslock would practice violin and Gregory would silently sit near him while drawing. One day he made a portrait of Cheslock and left it near him as a gift with the encouraging inscription “Keep playing”. The next day Cheslock asked him if he had any request for him on what to play, and that’s how they started talking to each other.
Headcanons by single character
Edgar:
His zodiacal sign is sagittarius
He has a sweet tooth and would live on sweet food alone
His maternal grandmother is french
His noble title comes from his mother, who is a Viscountess and older sister to Viscount of Druitt
He’s either pan or gay
Lawrence:
His zodiacal sign is capricorn
He’s ambidextrous (he writes with his right hand but is more comfortable doing other activities with his left one)
His sisters’ names are: Isabel (6 years older than him), Deborah (4 years older than him), Madelyn (2 years older than him), Adela (the only one to have a canonical name, 5 years younger than him), Rebecca (the one who has a crush on Edgar, 7 years younger than him), Rosalind and Amelia (identical twins, 9 years younger than him)
His father is a banker
Pretty sure he’s either ace or gay
Herman:
His zodiacal sign is libra (though I feel like aries might suit him better)
He took after his mother the most
He’s notoriously good at many sports, but he’s not very good at dancing (he’s not graceful enough for that kind of activity)
He’s good at cooking
He’s either a straight ally or a disaster bi
Gregory:
His zodiacal sign is cancer (mayhap also aquarius could suit him tho)
He used to wear charcoal and inks as make-up in his early years at Weston
His father is a politician
He’s kind of a picky eater and doesn’t like meat and seafood
He’s 100000% ace-spec
Cheslock:
His zodiacal sign is scorpio
His iconic “scar” is actually make-up, though beneath it he does have a smaller scar on his left eyelid, which is the result of a quarrel with his sister when they were kids
His father is a surgeon
His full name is Victor Theodore, which he hates
Pretty sure he’s bi
I might add more in the future, though I don’t have many headcanons for other characters but who knows.

UNPACKING THE USE OF FLOWERS IN THE NEW KURO ART
Let’s start with the Lily. There’s 2 ways the flower can be perceived in this piece.
The specific type of lily that is depicted is a Casa Blanca. This specific type of lily is commonly used as a funeral flower, which could infer that use of this flower in the image is to mock the undertaker. As the undertaker work in the funeral business and is in a few occasions depicted with lilies; so showing Sebastian clipping the lilies petal could be foreshadowing the upcoming demise of the undertaker in the coming arcs.
The second way this could be perceived (which is the most likely) is that the lily represents Ciel and his soul. In Christian lilies represent purity and divinity, whilst in the east they represent the soul and the souls hidden potential. Now as we can see in the image Sebastian is pruning the Lillie’s petals, which could represent a few things. First of the loss of Ciel’s purity in his childhood after making the contract with Sebastian, the contract which is based on revenge, revenge being considered an impure thing; As well as Ciel Turing away from god made and making a contract with a demon making him impure. As more petal fall the more sins Ciel commits and the more impure he becomes. The second thing we can infer from the image is the foreshadowing of Sebastian eventually claiming of Ciel’s soul. This can be seen in from the position of the lily, as the lily is covering the eye with the contract, and as the saying goes the eye is the window to the soul. As well as how Lillie’s are used in the east of symbolism of the soul; with Sebastian pruning the lily petal 1 by 1 slowly killing the Lily (taking Ciels Soul).
Now let’s move on the the rose we see in the image. Alive Red Rose are use to symbolise Love, Passion, Pride, desire and victory. How ever the rose we see in this image is wilting, and wilting flowers not just specific to roses are seen and a sign of death or the soon to be end of life. And the rose is in a tea cup. This could be used to parallel the reading of tea leaves (which was a common party trick in the 1890s). Seeing a alive rose in tea leaves is a good omen, how this rose isn’t alive, or is barely alive which would flip the meaning making the rose in the tea cut a bad omen of things to come.

reminders for new black butler fans
I am terrified that new fans are gonna come in (especially from twitter...shudders) and start screaming the same thing's we've been hearing since forever, so let me reiterate some things for you guys
there is nothing we can do about the seb*ciel fans. we hate them. any normal black butler fan hates seb*ciel. block the tag
most of the anime is NOT CANON. I think only e1-6 and 13-15 are canon to the manga, and even the ending of episode 15 was changed. season 2 is not canon. the OVA's are not canon. what is canon is book of circus, book of the atlantic, and the public school arc.
do not be weird about the p4 or any of the characters in the public school arc oh my god those are minors
do not say that you "want maurice cole to die" or "wish he had alois' trauma" that is fucking weird. I understand that maurice is not a well-liked character but that is not an excuse to say you want a CHILD to suffer
the public school arc is not a glorified version of harry potter. knock it off.
for the love of GOD do not give gregory the virgil sanders treatment i am begging on my hands and knees he is just shy and artistic not your little storm cloud
black butler is a very dark and triggering story. there are a lot of triggering themes within the manga (moreso the anime I have to be honest). if these themes upset you, then it may not be for you. that is okay. you're allowed to not like it and not interact with it. however, this doesn't mean that you should start screaming and yelling that other people shouldn't watch it either (this is more of a twitter issue but I digress)
okay now for some general reminders
if someone ships something you don't like (NOT talking about proship shit, thats nasty), i.e. sebastian x william or whatever. who cares. if you don't like it, then don't interact with it. simple as that!
this does not go for people who ship minors and adults you guys are fucking freaks
you don't have to like someone else's au. again, don't like, don't interact. it's easy
grell is a transwoman. this is not up for debate and is canon. yes, he/him pronouns are used for her in the anime and manga. NONE OF US LIKE THIS.
what sexuality / gender / race someone headcanons another character as is none of your business unless they're falling into harmful stereotypes
sascha's gender is not canon. most people use they/them for them (me included), but some use he or she. since they are not canonly nonbinary, this isn't an issue. however, please respect if someone uses they/them exclusively on them!
william is NOT abusive OH MY GOD PLEASE STOP SAYING HE IS. in the anime he is like, super brutal on grell for some reason? he only ever "hits" grell once in the manga (after her stunt as jack the ripper") and then jabs her twice with his scythe in the manga. he has never struck her. so stop. please. I love him so.
you don't have to accept the fanon (or canon really lol, that's why au's exist), there is no obligation
if someone says that bb is their special interest or hyperfixation your first instinct should not be to shit on them for it

Posting Black Butler facts once a day until season 4 is released!
There’s lots of references to real life literature in the series, the most well known being Snake’s snakes, Finny’s name and the Arthur Conan Doyle cameo in the Manor Murders arc.
But there are so many more, see below the cut!
The magazines that Ciel mentions he has read (Beeton’s and Punch) were real magazines at the time!
Many of the characters have names referencing things as well, like Othello (Shakespeare play/character),
Sieglinde (possible references to the Wizard of Oz)
and Johann Agares.
There’s also Peter and Wendy from the circus arc making obvious references to Peter Pan. Chapter 14 has references to “The Raven” as well! I suggest looking below the cut for more info!

Kuroshitsuji theory (spoilers ahead)
Where is the F.O.L orphanage located in Norfolk?
This post was made a lot more in depth thanks to @abybweisse (please go ready their post about this subject once you are done here :))
Thanks to chapter 210 we know we are by a river, and that leave 4 maybe 5 rivers it could be; these rivers being Bure, Ouse, Wensum, Yare and maybe Waveny.
And I suspect we are along the River Yare, specifically at the Haddiscoe new cut (where the River Yare meets the river Waveny at the cut)
And you’re probably wondering why I think this, let me explain.
First of all, the surrounding location of the F.O.L orphanage. We know it’s slightly raised on a hill, that’s surrounded by flat marsh / farm lands with a forest on the back of the building and has a river running near by and a transition along the river. As well as that the showing of seagulls in the start of the arc reveals it’s relatively close to the ocean. All of these factors are very similar to hadiscoe in 1889.
Originally I thought it was Haddiscoe Manor House but threw research done by Aby and myself, I now suspect that Raven Hall is the location of the of the orphanage. This is also correlated by the location of the river to the Hall shown in the map that Theo shows us of the underground tunnels.
Raven Hall is a farm house estate just off of the yare river and inside of the Haddiscoe island. The estate also had a water mill pump called the Red Mill (in 1889 this would of been knows as the langley detached drainage pump), which is a drainage mill like the one mentioned, at the end of the chapter when the kids have to swim threw the drainage system to get out of the estate.
This drainage mill pumps water from the surrounding area to the river Yare, which is what Theo says the the mill by them does.
Another thing to consider is how Finny and Snake would of got to this location by train. As we are shown at the start of the arc Finny and snake take a train to a far out station and walk in to the orphanage. I suspect they took the end of the line route that goes from Norwich to Lowestoft, but instead of taking the line to the end they got off at Haddiscoe station that is located on the south side of the cut next to st olaves. They would of then walked over one of the many bridges to the island and up to the F.O.L orphanage.
This also link to a safe way to get to the meeting point with the O!Ciel. Once the investigation on the orphanage was done, snake and Finny would have only need to follow the river Yare to get to Great Yarmouth or River Waveny to end up in Lowestoft. These towns were both port town which means they would have had trade route ships which could have taken them directly to Brighton by ocean instead of having to travel the whole country by foot or train.
With all these facts i am quite sure this is the location of the orphanage!
