The UN agency for Palestinian refugees says some employees released into Gaza from Israeli detention reported having been pressured by Israeli authorities into falsely stating that the agency has Hamas links and that staff took part in the October 7 attacks.
UNRWA fired 12 staffers earlier this year following allegations from Israel that they actively participated in Hamas’s terror onslaught.
The assertions are contained in a report by UNRWA reviewed by Reuters and dated February 2024, which detailed allegations of mistreatment in Israeli detention made by unidentified Palestinians, including several working for UNRWA.
UNRWA communications director Juliette Touma says the agency planned to hand the information in the 11-page, unpublished report to agencies inside and outside the UN specialized in documenting potential human rights abuses.
“When the war comes to an end there needs to be a series of inquiries to look into all violations of human rights,” she says.
The document says several UNRWA Palestinian staffers had been detained by the Israeli army, and added that the ill-treatment and abuse they said they had experienced included severe physical beatings, waterboarding, and threats of harm to family members.
“Agency staff members have been subject to threats and coercion by the Israeli authorities while in detention, and pressured to make false statements against the Agency, including that the Agency has affiliations with Hamas and that UNRWA staff members took part in the 7 October 2023 atrocities,” the report says.
UNRWA declined a Reuters request to see transcripts of its interviews containing allegations of coerced false confessions.
In addition to the alleged abuse endured by UNRWA staff members, Palestinian detainees more broadly described allegations of abuse, including beatings, humiliation, threats, dog attacks, sexual violence, and deaths of detainees denied medical treatment, the UNRWA report says.
don’t worry, I’m sure all the world governments who cut funding to UNRWA based purely on unsubstantiated allegations will do the same to Israel now :) :)

“Israel is committing genocide.” Yes. They are. But so is the US. The US is 100% complicit in this, and Israel would not have been able to do as much without the help of the US. I’m disgusted to be living in a country that is complicit in the literal MURDER of civilians. Men, women, children, elderly, families. All dead because of Israel AND the US. This needs to STOP.

every single time israel fires on people picking up food or humanitarian aid it truly cuts me to the core. obviously it's equally horrible to fire on civilians escaping the invasion or to bomb hospitals or refugee camps or people just living in their own homes. but there's something so brutal about hitting people right when they have gathered for life-saving aid. by firing on them there the IOF have set up an impossible dilemma where starving people have to choose between death by bullet or death by hunger. they have left no room for palestinians to choose life. i do not know how my government or any other government can just sit by and watch while innocent people continue to be gunned down for the crime of existing in israel's eyeline.

white usamerican liberals pretend they want a multicultural society until the multiculturals start talking about how we’re victimized by colonialism and white supremacy. you say you love your diverse city and then harass people with family in palestine for not voting for the man committing genocide against them?? if you want “diversity” you have to swallow the reality that people of color are also human and have our own perspectives and priorities and loved ones to protect, if you want an “international community” you have to treat people outside europe and its white settler colonies with the same respect as your own community, and if you can’t do those things stop claiming to be anything other than a white supremacist

gaza has just been completely cut off from the world.
after increased intensity of israeli aistrikes tonight, the last cable providing communications was destroyed. telecommunications have been completely cut off. they cannot reach one another. they cannot reach paramedics. the red crescent society has completely lost contact with their branch in gaza. nobody inside can reach anyone inside, and especially not outside of gaza to tell us what is going on. this is a complete atrocity.

It really is hard to imagine a more malicious statement than “the children of Gaza have brought this upon themselves” when children in Gaza are now being massacred by the hundreds. But this was actually said in a recent Knesset session. And it wasn’t someone considered an extreme right-winger, but a liberal centrist – Meirav Ben-Ari from Yair Lapid’s opposition party Yesh Atid. [...]
These words have not gotten much attention, as far as I can see. It is enough to reflect upon what would happen if a Palestinian leader said Israeli children brought it upon themselves. Can we even imagine the outcry and condemnation, the cries of antisemitism and Holocaust tropes? It would be deafening. But this passes quietly. [...]
Children have often been a marker for whether one has gone too far. Once children are explicitly framed as “not innocent,” you know that all-out genocidal warfare is possible.

I personally believe that in that “bad ending” it’s bad for Jumin. MC and him get into their own bubble and go down deep. Dunno if you already finished it but even at the art I thought jumin always looks sad ;-;
hm i agree! he didn’t seem all that happy. and no ^^;; i wasn’t really enjoying it so i haven’t managed to complete it yet. just that one episode. i assume that at this point it will take me quite a while to build up the interest/motivation to complete that ngl but you know i TRY to not take it too seriously but the game developers did a great job to make me (and i assume all players) fall in love with the characters and wish to see them happy and well XD
BAD ending??
so… i kept getting jumin’s good ending no matter how much i tried, even after following the steps to get the bad ending. so… out of curiosity i ended up purchasing the bad ending (GOD this game is so exPENSIVE 😭😭)
andd??? i am shocked to say the least! i had expected something horrific on jumin’s part BUT i completed the first episode and everything is pretty consensual so far?? in fact, the first thing he did was to remind mc that it’s all an elaborate game, she’s free to leave whenever, and there’s even a therapist present at all times. like??? it’s not something i’d want or actively choose for myself 😂 but even then, the one i thought unhinged was mc 😂 poor jaehee though 😭 i wish she could have had lunch with them
sooo… idk why everyone used to talk about jumin as this freaky guy? 😅 he’s actually pretty thoughtful and concerned about consent etc. throughout and cares for mc’s overall well-being too
