Desert Fairy!
I polished the first sketch before making more thumbnails...Needs more work, but this was a fun endeavor! More to come.
Greater Desert Fae - [aka "Deva"]
“Devas are relatives of the Glass and Dream Elves. They magically bound their life-force to specific plants, objects, and locations in the desert. Over the course of a couple thousand years, they've amassed immense power. These great fairies are known to be generally benevolent, but they reserve their generosity for those they deem worthy of their gifts. One seeking something from a Deva will have to be tested to prove their worth."

Impromptu Bestiary Page, “Cockatrice”. It’s basically a chicken dragon. Literally the dumbest creature ever invented. I love it.

I can’t go to Hobby Lobby without spending at least $25. This is me playing with my new art toys.

I think I’m finally getting the hang of this pen and ink stuff. I really like it so far!

I’ve never used ink like this before. Nibs are hard...
First piece isn’t finished, but it’s as done as it’s gonna get for now. I think it does what I wanted it to do. I like how the ink looks. Solid black is cool. The outlines feel too “outliney”, but whatevs.
The other two chunks are ink blotches and a random ink blotchy face. Dig it?

Sneak previews! :O
I got it ready for inking. I’m glad I went the extra step to get it prepped, because it probably would’ve wrecked my schedule if I hadn’t.

Ooooohh, spooky! I love Lovecraftian Horror type monsters. This isn't the final mockup, but I have a solid sense of composition. Next step: define precise forms and outline shadows.

Taking time this month [a.k.a. doing a challenge with a friend] to learn how to use solid black effectively.
My goals: 1) Produce 2 "finished" pieces a week, and 2) post progress updates daily.
So every day I'll post a bit of progress, and hopefully by the end of October I'll have 8 finished pieces and a better understanding of black and white!
Happy Inking!!
