“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.”

in greek mythology, the hesperides are the nymphs of evening and golden light of sunsets, who were the “daughters of the evening” or “nymphs of the west”.

A little help...
Every little reblog or spare change could help.
I honestly hate that I have to do this and asking people on the internet for help is an absolute last resort, but it’s come to it;
For those who don’t know me — hi, I’m Raine (I don’t use my real name online for security purposes), I’m a 21-year-old, unemployed, full-time university student, clinically diagnosed with anxiety and depression, living with my (also unemployed) mother and dog and within six months, we’ll be homeless and without help.
This is going to be very long-winded so if you’d like to know of my situation, please keep reading under the cut, but if you can help by donating please click here.
We’ve been living in my Nanna’s house for about 10 years now — through my parents separating, my paternal grandparents passing, Nanna being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and just this past week, Nanna passed too.
Since 2012, my mother was Nanna’s full-time carer with her Alzheimer’s, until the end of last year when it wasn’t medically viable to take care of her at home anymore and she was placed into a nursing home. Even then, either myself or mum would visit Nan every few days to rotate clothing that was brought home and washed, take her home-cooked meals on occasion and just generally see she was looked after. Nan’s decline in health had started gradually and went downhill rapidly in the last few months. Several weeks ago, she collapsed and was unconscious for half a day, a few weeks ago she fell and broke her hip and now in the past week, Nan passed in her sleep.
This now leaves myself, mum and the dog in trouble. My uncle (who, honestly, in gods know how long has only really bothered with Nanna when it suits him and only ever saw fit to see her once in the entire time she was sick before she passed) is now pushing for us to sell Nan’s house — literally the only place we have — within the next six months. This so he can get his half of the selling price and retire, with absolutely no concern as to whether or not his sister, niece and a dog would end up homeless.
Mum and I are both unemployed (please do not think this is by lack of trying because my fucking gods have we been trying and failing to get work) and are barely scraping by with the meagre government allowances we do get.
Fair enough that my uncle is repaid for his help with paying land rates when we absolutely could not afford them, but he also wants money for the roughly $9000 worth of funeral costs that would have largely been covered with the funeral insurance HE made my mother cancel on Nan’s behalf. That would have been $6000 he wouldn’t have to pay, but he insisted on cancelling Nan’s insurance.
That aside, selling the house leaves us in a dire situation. My education is on the line if I can’t find somewhere to live before the next session (I’m currently in the final weeks of this year’s Spring session) and the only places viable for my mother to buy are in different states — which would, at the moment, mean dropping out of university for me to move with her.
For those wondering, living with my father is not an option for me. He is retired and his attitude to my situation and his relationship are large causes of anxiety for me (literally has sent me into panic attacks or a breakdown more than once).  I have been fairly reliant on him for money in the past but can no longer do so.
Mum and I are literally using every avenue we can to find money to save for this; applying for basically any job we can find, selling anything we don’t need or want, accessing whatever of Mum’s super we can, etc. This is absolutely the last resort, to be asking people online for help, but we really have no other choice.

greek mythology | gods & goddesses | Στύξ
→ Styx was a deity and river that forms the boundary between Earth and and the Underworld. Styx is also a goddess, being the daughter of Tethys. The river Styx has amazing powers that have been accounted as giving Achilles his invulnerability, as he was dipped head first by his mother, hence the story of Achilles’ heel.

What I learned about confidence? Well, actually, my soon-to-be sister-in-law, Priyanka, she taught me — I asked her: ‘where do you get all this confidence from?’ And she said ‘well, you know, I’m insecure about bits and bobs, but if you want to a reaction that you want to get, you have to walk into that room and be confident and own it, and make people feel welcome and loved and happy to be there with you.’ So that’s what I learned about confidence. I think nobody really has that much, but if you kind of own it and you pretend to be that person, you’ll get a much warmer response, so I’m trying to do that as well. — Sophie Turner for Harper’s Bazaar UK, May 2019
