I was thinking about Aragorn’s stupidly long legs again and I think it should be canon that he regularly smacks his forehead into low door frames and stuff. Just somwhere in Minas Tirith there’s a loud thunk followed by a long string of Sindarin swearwords and Arwen is like “ah yes, here he comes, the King of Gondor and Arnor, the love of my life.”

It's incredible how people have been protesting pants and skirts not having pockets but not a single peep is heard over the fact that skirts no longer have underskirts by default. Underskirts (or lining) was a thing when I was a child, no skirt would be made without lining, you didn't have to think and check if your whole ass is visible in a skirt because lining was a thing!!!! Now most skirts don't and it's simply because it's cheaper, fuck the fact that a customer doesn't want their panties shown in broad daylight, it saves a couple of cents on material.

Fandom Problem #4809:
When someone who hates a genre is hired to write for a franchise in that genre. Congrats! You're so busy deconstructing tropes you don't like that you've destroyed everything the fans liked!

Since the r-slur is making a comeback (you know, the word that starts with R, has six letters, and ends in D), I'm gonna make a little PSA:
Yes, it's an ableist slur.
Terms like "asshat," "head-up-ass," "up their own ass," and "high on their own farts" exist. There's also words like crap, dogshit, half-assed, assclown, and chucklefuck. And on the less vulgar side, there are terms like ridiculous, nonsense, train wreck, pointless, insipid, self-absorbed, pretentious, annoying, boring, contemptible, vile, and disgusting.
Substituting words like restarted, poptarted, brain damaged, smoothbrain, etc. is still ableist, because either 1. you obviously still mean the r-word, or 2. you're still using disability as an insult.

Everyone who's like, "Yeah! Stop calling people [r-slur]! Use [other term referring to some form of disability] instead!" is completely missing the fucking point.
No form of disability should be used as an insult, period.

Writeblr Tag Challenge: Addressing Ableism Part 1
Part 2 | Part 3
The Challenge: Find the words in your WIP and switch them out for something that isn’t an ableist slur.
These are Ableist Slurs directed against the Intellectually and Developmentally Disabled: Stupid, Dumb, Idiot(ic), Retarded, Moron(ic), “Special”, Imbecile, Feeble-Minded
These words all have their origins in talking about the intellectually and developmentally disabled, (often in a medical context), but due to common usage became prominent insults. (As a result, the ones that were previously used in a medical or professional context were no longer used because they recognized the words had become common insults and slurs.)
These words all rely on insulting someone based on their perceived lack of intelligence (Which intelligence is an ableist, racist, and classist concept on its own). By using these, you are saying that by comparing someone or something to those who are intellectually or developmentally disabled, by saying they share traits, is a bad thing. You are saying that to compare someone to the intellectually and developmentally disabled is an insult. It is equating someone’s existence to an insult.
(Special Needs is also a phrase that we don’t like. Our needs aren’t special. They’re ours. And it’s also been the source of the “special” insult. Just use disabled. Disabled isn’t a bad word.)
So, let’s remove these words from our vocabulary and our writing!
And instead use insults that aren’t about comparing the person or thing to the disabled!
Note: None of these alternatives are synonyms for these words. They are alternatives so you don’t use words describing the disabled to mean what the alternative words mean. Again, these are not synonyms.
Alternative insults (that don’t rely on someone’s intelligence) are: ill-thought out, foolish, ridiculous, thoughtless, careless, unappealing, useless, uncool

Okay, so we all know that iconic scene in Two Towers where Gimli and Legolas compare their kill counts from the battle (THAT STILL ONLY COUNTS AS ONE). But in my not so humble opinion, the book to movie transfer just did not capture some of their best moments in this saga and I am here to rectify this tragedy.
So naturally, Gimli’s the one who starts it:
Tumblr media
Legolas responds dramatically and patronizing, as usual “Two? Sure, not bad. I mean, I’ve got 20, but who’s counting, right?” Oh Legolas
Tumblr media
Gimli comes back later with exactly one kill count over Legolas’ previous score and you cannot convince me that that was not out of sheer pettiness. Meanwhile, Legolas has been racking up points fruit ninja style but…he’s only killed like 4 more? Two dozen is 24 right? And he had at least 20 earlier? I really want him to just have thought that there was no way Gimli could’ve caught up to him, then he saw that Gimli was definitely catching up and oh shit better kills some more to stay in the lead and he barely scraps by 21-24, but of course acts a though that was the plan all along.
Tumblr media
After this there’s a break, until Legolas comes looking for Aragorn because he can’t find Gimli to brag about his new high score (39). I love that Aragorn thinks Legolas is looking for Gimli because he’s worried about him and tries to reassure him that Gimli is a strong dwarf and probably find wherever he is, and Legolas is just, woah, what, no, I just wanted to brag. Who cares that they are in the middle of a battle right now. Nope, Legolas is just like gotta find Gimli and tell him I am KICKING HIS ASS.
honestly these two
Tumblr media
AND THE IRONY when he DOES find Gimli, Gimli’s in the lead 42-39. I like that Legolas has killed two more in this time. I can’t help but hope they were ‘Grrrr I can’t find my dwarf where is he’ passive aggressive killings, like two orcs who just happened to get in his way mid-rant. Because of course, we all know that he actually was worried about Gimli in all of this.
So, Gimli wins.
Tumblr media
BUT THEN
We get THIS GEM
When Treebeard isn’t sure about letting Gimli into Fangorn, Legolas freaking uses Gimli’s high score to brag about his dwarf to impress Treebeard and it works.
Legolas just proudly proclaiming Gimli’s victory to Treebeard to validate his presence in Fangorn feeds my soul and I love this so much
Tumblr media
So there’s my take on the REAL reasons behind their friendly casualty count. God I love these two so much
