Nico Robin!! She's one of my weaknesses, hah. I'm quite behind posting this drawing to Tumblr because, well, sadly, this is my lowest-performing piece in a long time. It's difficult not to feel down about a poor reception, but that's life, you know? Being a little artist on social media is difficult for all kinds of obvious reasons. One of them is "discoverability". You either have to draw popular characters or "kiss the ring" of big artists so that they boost your post. The latter of that sounds cynical, I know, but I don't know how else to describe it. The dream is that your work speaks for itself, and the algorithm shares it naturally as designed. Alas, the algorithm is jank, and you could have a type of shadowban without even knowing that you do. The only option left for discoverability is to pander. I see pandering all the time on the socials. You'll see people drawing fan arts of popular characters or the OCs of big artists just for "business" reasons. I'm just as guilty as anyone of doing it (pandering), so I don't want to present myself as someone above it all, and I don't blame people for wanting to advance their online growth. You could say this post is just me complaining that my Nico Robin didn't do well because the right people didn't see it at the right time. But like I said in the introduction paragraph, that's life, you know? It's not realistic to have nonstop success in the arts or life in general. There will be peeks and valleys. What is important is that we keep putting one foot in front of the other because the only way to move forward is to move forward. (Sorry if that sounds trite, but it's what I think) Anyway, follow me elsewhere! https://linktr.ee/jckix

Bambietta Basterbine needs relief! Who's going to help this Quincy girl from Bleach? Anyone who's been following this account knows that I read Bleach for the first time two summers ago. As of this writing, the Thousand-Year Blood War arc is in full swing, and today's episode featured my favorite Quincy, Bambietta Basterbine. My favorite Bleach girl is actually Riruka Dokugamine, but Bambietta is a close second. What can I say, I like the "bad" girls ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I struggled for a long time to think of a background that I thought would work for her pose and outfit. Many artists don't bother with backgrounds because they want to focus everything on the character. That certainly works, but in my opinion that caters to an audience only seeking instant gratification. I just feel like adding thoughtful backgrounds add more "taste" to a piece. The trick is not to overdo the information on the background because otherwise your piece won't be readable, and if it's not readable at a glance, then people will continue scrolling without a second thought. Thank you for joining my on the artist's journey. 🎨🥂✨ Follow me on my galleries and socials! https://linktr.ee/admin

Please say hello to April 🫰 She is the beautiful OC of Kyopink611.
Kyopink611 is an artist from Japan who is well-know for his fan art of One Piece girls. His OC April is very much inspired by Oda's character designs. I discovered Kyopink September of last year and have been a distant fan of his since then.
So you can imagine my surprise when out of the blue, he DMs me on Twitter to tell me that he likes my art and wants to see me to do more. How exciting to receive such a message of encouragement when you're a small artist! Since then, Kyopink has continued to be nice with comments and likes and all that social media goodness.
Out of gratitude for his kindness, I wanted to draw his OC. I think she's appealing for obvious reasons. Fun fact, I accidentally posted a version of her on Twitter in which her feet were swapped! This is the corrected version, which is why this file is called "April2". 🎨✨ Thank you for following me on the artist's journey. It means a lot! A night with Shinobu Kocho from Demon Slayer 🦋✨ My first exposure to Demon Slayer was the Mugen Train movie, which I thought was excellent. When I learned the movie was adapted from the manga (i.e. is canon), and that the manga was only 205 chapters, I knew I had to read it. Now that I have, I can say with confidence that Shinobu Kocho is Best Girl from that series. For real, she’s SO CUTE. I’m also a huge fan of themed-clothing, so when  I saw a bikini for sale on Amazon in the style of Shinobu’s jacket, I knew then and there I would draw her wearing it.
The funny thing about Demon Slayer is that despite its enormous success as an anime, the story itself never sustains the highs that it has (something a friend told me, with which I totally agree). The ending of the story generates a lot of hot takes, but I’ll reserve mine until the anime adapts it.  Thanks for following me on the artist’s journey. 🎨✨ Find me on the other socials and galleries! https://linktr.ee/jckix

I haven't drawn many Western characters, but Frankie Foster was a nice experience.
What do you think? Should I draw more cartoon characters?
Cartoon characters really do have a different vibe when you draw them. They also allow for more freedom of style over anime/manga if you ask me.

Yor Forger takes a cheeky selfie 📸 Phew! This was a whopper of a drawing for me! The perspective required to create a mirror selfie is no joke. At a certain point you feel less like an artist and more like a puzzle solver. I knew that would be the case going into it, but I really wanted to draw something special for Yor Forger because she took the digital art world by storm last year. Spy x Family is a great series, and I hope it continues to be fun.  As of this post, I reached 200 Followers on Twitter, which is something I’m proud of, so this Yor is sort of a commemoration of that milestone. I don’t have much attention here on Tumblr, which is fine, but it would be nice, heh. I still like blogging my thoughts as I post my work because it’s like a journal of my journey.  If you’re reading this, know that I appreciate you. Forgive me for the plug, but here’s my linktree: https://linktr.ee/jckix  The artist journey continues! 🎨
