The Thundermans Return (new poster) (discussion + theory)
There are two versions (that I found so far) of the poster! BOTH are really, really confusing, but let's analyze!
Let's actually start with the background: it's Hiddenville, which makes sense ("The Thundermans Return" to Hiddenville), but we already know that the movie will take place in various locations, so I really hope we will get to see more of Metroburg (and that it will be included in a poster too). But it's really nostalgic and...strangely it sets a very interesting mood. I can't find the right word for it right now. Especially with the color of the sky. You really know SOMETHING is going to go down this time.
Now about the Thundermans. We have Max and Phoebe at the front: the new supersuits look really cool (especially the gloves!) and we have a standard pose that works well. Just one question: WHERE is the rest of Phoebe's left arm. At first thought she had her left hand on her hip, but obviously not, so this remains a mystery for now 🕵️♂️. Notice how all of the Thundermans are posing slightly differently and only the twins' poses are exactly the same! We -again-see the golden stripes on Max's arm that stand for being one of the captains of the T-Force (formally the Z-force). He also has a device (maybe a smartphone) in the pocket on his leg. In general, it seems that all the individual suits are slightly different (not just the boys and the girls).
(insert deleted comment about Max's new hairstyle here XD)
I want to talk about Billy next, because I just live for how happy he looks. Look at him. He's happy to be there, he looks cool and he's all ready to go! And no, he and the twins are not on a staircase or something - Diego is simply this tall now (and Phoebe and Max are both in a medium squat).
Next we have Nora: she has darker hair now (resembling Phoebe's hair colour) and I really like the pose she does with her left hand to focus her laser. Unfortunately her stance is slightly strange to me (but that's maybe also because Phoebe's elbow is covering half of her leg).
I don't have much to say about Hank and Barb, so let's move on to Chloe, who the center of this whole picture. I'm really intrigued by this. I love her smile and overall expression -she knows exactly what she's doing. AND - after looking at this picture for several minutes- she's sitting on a FLYING skateboard! Then there's a second flying skateboard with Dr. Colosso on top. WHAT is going on!? My first guess: flying skateboard - hoverboard-time travel. I actually made a post once on how Chloe might be able to travel in time due to her teleportation power. For me it makes sense (I will discuss this again on here soon), because it also helps with my theory of Mayhem's return (from the past, where he was more powerful). Also the "Thundermans Return..." return back to the future!?!? 👀
My last point is related to this theory. I saw this poster and thought it was strange (but very cool still!). And I thought it's the arm or leg placement, the composition, but you know what? It's the light. Let me explain: there are lights that comes from the sky, the background, then the ones from their individual superpowers (lasers for Nora, lightning for Barb etc.), but when you look closely at the wider poster, you will see a strange light in front of Phoebe and Max too. It doesn't look like telekinetic waves (which are normally not visible, but we saw them once on screen in the episode "Cape Fear"). Actually, I think this light comes from Chloe! She's in the middle, but creates a circular light (you can't really tell in the small poster, only in the wide version) around the Thundermans! Notice how Max's hand is almost reaching out through something - could it be a portal!?!? That really should be it, because Dr. Colosso is very obviously traveling through a portal as well. So are the Thundermans going back in time to stop their enemies? To stop Mayhem?!
Okay one more thing: the formation of the Thundermans kinda looks like a T and I'm so here for it. I can't wait!!! And I am so happy we got a poster!!!
Kira and Jack will take part in the Comic Con Experience 2023 #CCXP2023 in Brazil this Saturday to talk about the new Thundermans Movie #TheThundermansReturn !!!
At the moment there is not much information about this event, but Kira has already confirmed that she is coming to Sao Paulo (therefore I'm pretty sure Jack will be there in person too - but he hasn't posted about it yet).
This is really exciting!!!
I hope that some videos of their event will be shared afterwards, but a fanpage of Kira will also be present and report (hopefully filming will be allowed):
Another thing I want to see in the new movie...Max's & Phoebe's twin power!
We obviously need to see Max's and Phoebe's shared power (twin power) in action! Like I really, really do hope they don't just forget about it, because we only got it in the LAST episode of season 4 and it was so cool and that was it. Let them use it, let them demonstrate how insanely powerful their joint forces are! (Through the whole show they hint at it with things like "if Phoebe and Max combined their freeze breath, they could freeze the whole city!!!", but we really only saw a tiny glimpse of it so far).
Also, I recently thought back on the scene when they "unlocked" the twin power and Phoebe's like "yeah, probably bc we never held hands before" and even Barb is like 🙄 . Then only one minute later we see Max and Phoebe do their secret hand shake thing (which looking back on it was their thing for the ENTIRE fourth season X'D) and it just immediately activates their power. It's just wholesome but also really funny.
So I know the movie will take place a few years later probably and Max&Phoebe should really know how to use it by then, but I still want someone to write how they both struggled, trying to figure it out, when they had just recently unlocked it. Causing damage to the furniture & other objects randomly being blasted away. On day fourth Nora is so annoyed that she asks: "How HARD can it be to not activate your power every five seconds?! Just stay one meter apart!" And Phoebe's like "Inexplicably, that seems to be a lot more difficult than we initially thought and I don't know why!" Max: "Yeah, but it saved all of our lives, so MAYBE show some more appreciation!" Phoebe:" That's right! High five!" Nora: "NOOO! Not AGAIN!"
It also makes you realize that the Thundermans got pretty lucky that Phoebe and Max didn't unlock their twin power way earlier, because imagine the chaos if it would have been activated when they both were glued with their hands to the remote. Imagine Hank having to explain THAT to the hero league. LMAO X'D
“Forgettable” (Daydream XI), is literally the Max Thunderman’s anthem, in my opinion! Both the lyrics and the genre fit him really well!
Thank you! =)
I checked out the song and I have to admit it's really not my kind of genre, but I do see how the lyrics can relate to some of Max's internal struggles!
Here's how I would interpret it (maybe your interpretation is very different):
Max is indeed a superhero. And not only because of his powers or his parents or anything like that. That's important, but the main point is that there is a part of his personality that leans towards certain aspects of heroism (actually that would be quiet interesting to discuss - aspects of heroism as presented in the Thundermans...). Simultaneously he despises the idea of being a superhero within the norms dictated by the superhero council (of course the competition with Phoebe "to be the best" superhero is also part of the problem, but its root lies deeper than that). As Max doesn't see a way (he eventually starts to see one in season 4) to still be a superhero outside of these norms, he tries to convince himself, that the whole hero thing is not meant for him and turns to what he sees as the given "polar opposite", being a super villain, even if it is against his own nature. Interestingly enough, Max has exactly the same problems (constraints of freedom (obeying Dark Mayhem), acting against his own better knowledge, faking parts of his personality etc.) he had to face in the hero community. In the end he neither wants to be a classical superhero, nor a classical super villain, but also not a classical teenager (he still wants to use all his abilities and skills for something that makes sense in his mind). He knows exactly what he doesn't want - but not what he truly wants.
And I think that the lyrics of the song kinda resonate with that overall thought.
- let him be a superhero and still dress in a leather jacket
- let him incorporate the Thundermans’ lighting bolt into his outfit
- literally just let him be HIMSELF
thank you.
Me: “You know, one thing I really wish for is a new superhero/villain outfit for Max. Something that is more individual, a bit more dramatic and glamorous to fit his personality and something he can actually fight in (instead of wearing jeans). I also would love for Jack Griffo to bring his own style into this and make it work somehow,”

Hi everyone, I created a new blog: https://www.tumblr.com/backtothethunder2023
On this new blog I will talk exclusively about the Thundermans (upcoming movie, character discussion etc.) If you’re interested in that, please feel free to follow this blog and send me asks there (someone pls try that, because I’m not sure if the option is activated correctly!)
As the new Thundermans movie is approaching, I would be very happy to discuss it with you (people who have been in the fandom before, but also people who newly joined the fandom!) =)
But I want to make a short statement beforehand, because it’s important to me:
Many fans of the Thundermans are kids/young teenagers. This was the case back in the day when the show first aired (my friends, that was TEN years ago omg!!! In 2013), but it is also the case now, because recently the show gained many new fans due to streaming. I am also aware of that because of the type of new comments I still get on my old content I made for the Thundermans (on youtube etc.), which are very obviously written by children as can be noted by the interesting spelling and grammar (XD).
While I don’t plan to take any of this old content down, as an adult, I still feel a responsibility to not mix it with more serious stuff (e.g. posts about political issues etc.), that is clearly not meant for children. Of course, in an ideal world, parents would not let their kids roam the internet by themselves, but we all know that unfortunately this is often not the case.
That’s why I am starting a new blog about the Thundermans and new posts on this blog about the Thundermans will be reblogged to it as well to gather everything at one place.
To be in a fandom with such a broad audience consisting of kids, teens and adults always requires extra caution. I would encourage everyone to add tags, a rating and (if necessary) TWs to any content you make within the fandom and to just always be mindful of what you post.
