I decided to take a mental health break from tumblr for a few days. I've been struggling a bit recently and I think it would do me good to get off here for a little while.
I've found myself getting a bit too sensitive to almost every post on my dash lately and I feel overwhelmed every time I see drama or hate around here. Tumblr is usually a positive form of escapism for me but right now it mostly triggers anxiety.

The longer I spend in this fandom the more convinced I become that many people - particularly though not exclusively younger people - have a completely fucked-up view of ageing and what age looks like.
This goes out to the “the old man is ageing backwards!” crew, who seem to think being in your late 40s means you should look like you’re crumbling to dust and anything other than that is somehow miraculous.
