one time a professor asked me if i’d ever wanted to write anything “more important” than romance. and i said no. i was put on this earth to write about sad people kissing. and if another writer ever came up to me and said they wanted to write 400 pages containing nothing but a character baking a single loaf of bread each day, then i would tell them to do that. people don't write something because it's important. they write about something and that is what makes it important

last night's writings in Spanish ✨
(50): Besos por costumbre.
“¿Muy pesado el día?” preguntó Copia acercándose hasta su escrito.
Terzo soltó un suspiro y cambio su peso al respaldo de la silla, asintiendo en un cabecero mientras miraba al cardenal.
“Siento que no acaba nunca.”
Copia ladeó una sonrisa cansada, agachándose hasta juntar sus narices en un pequeño toque. Su nariz se pintó automáticamente de negro pero no pudo importarle menos. Habían adquirido esa pequeña costumbre ante lo engorroso que podía ser limpiar el resto del maquillaje con otro tipo de besos. Era un toque más simple y reconfortante.
“Ha sido algo extenso, te cedo eso” respondió Copia, sentándose sobre las piernas de Terzo. El Papa lo abrazó inmediatamente con uno de sus brazos. “Pero no ha sido tan malo para mí.”
“Me alegro de que al menos uno de los dos esté bien” Terzo estiró su mano libre a la punta de la nariz del otro hombre, limpiando la pequeña mancha de maquillaje negro con una risa en los labios. “Mi día mejora contigo de todas maneras.”
El cardenal soltó una pequeña risa por eso. Sus mejillas se tiñeron ligeramente de color.
“Es cierto” defendió el Papa. “Eres mi pequeño rayito de sol.”
“No voy a llegar a convencerte de lo contrario, ¿verdad?” susurró el cardenal acurrucandose en el regazo del otro hombre. Terzo lo abrazó felizmente mientras tarareaba un 'no'.
(17): Besos para distraer.
"¡Copia, basta! Ya estamos tarde, si seguimos así no vamos a llegar nunca a la reunión" regañó el Tercer Emérito entre risas y besos. Su cardenal se quejó en un fuerte gemido, todavía sin quitar las manos de su superior y con una línea de labial corrida a la izquierda de sus labios.
Terzo soltó una risa mientras agarraba la brocha con pintura negra con una mano y la dejaba una acaricia en la espalda del castaño. Continuó trazando el óvalo sobre su ojo derecho para ahora sí terminarlo, no tan proligo como le hubiera gustado pero no había mucho tiempo para corregir, en 15 minutos llevaba a penas esos dos círculos en sus ojos que lo hacían parecer un panda y las líneas en sus sienes sin llegar a su mandíbula, que de haber estado ya habría manchado aún más el rostro de Copia.
"Pensé que yo era el irresponsable entre nosotros dos pero hoy día me estas ganando" continuó el Emérito con una risa grabada en los labios. Pasó la brocha cuidadosamente sobre su nariz, marcando el contorno de las partes que luego pintaría de negro. Unos segundos más y estuvo listo, pasando a las líneas en sus mejillas.
"Me cansé de ser el chico bueno, además no sé para qué es esta reunión, ya tuvimos una la semana pasada." Copia suspiró y se movió lentamente fuera del regazo de su pareja, usando una silla cercana al tocador para poder verse en el reflejo del espejo también.
"Si tu, que eres mi cardenal, no lo sabes mucho menos lo sé yo. Normalmente tu sabes esas cosas."
El hombre más joven volvió a suspirar, sacándole otra risa a Terzo.
"Ya nos las vamos a arreglar" respondió el Papa junto a un encogimiento de hombros. Abrió el cajón del tocador y sacó una toalla húmeda desde un paquete guardado ahí dentro, con aquello en mano giró para enfrentar a su pareja, tomando con cuidado su rostro para limpiar las oscuras marcas descuidadas de su propio maquillaje en el rostro contrario.
"Sabes que puedo hacer eso solo ¿verdad?" murmuró Copia cerrando los ojos para relajarse en los toque de las manos de Terzo.
"Cállate, estoy buscando excusas para seguir tocándote" susurró en respuesta el Papa, provocando un pequeño color rojizo en el rostro de Copia.
"No necesitas excusas para eso."
Una sonrisa se grabó en los labios de Terzo. “Lo sé.”

(17): Kiss to distract
"'Copia, that's enough! We're already late, if we keep this up we'll never make it to the meeting" reprimanded the Third Emeritus between laughs and kisses. His cardinal complained in a loud groan, still not taking his hands off his superior and with a line of lipstick smeared to the left of his lips.
Terzo let out a chuckle as he grabbed the brush with black paint with one hand and left the other hand to caress on the cardinal's back. He continued tracing the oval over his right eye to now really finish it, not as perfect as he would have liked but there wasn't much time to fix it, in 15 minutes he was barely progressing with his makeup with those two circles on his eyes that made him look like a panda and the lines on his temples without reaching his jawline, which if it had been there would have already smudged Copia's face even more.
"I thought I was the irresponsible one between the two of us but today you're beating me" continued Emeritus with a laugh etched on his lips. He ran the brush carefully over his nose, marking the outline of the parts he would later paint black. A few seconds more and he was ready, moving on to the lines on his cheeks.
"I'm tired of being the good one, besides I don't know what this meeting is for, we already had one last week." Copia sighed and moved slowly off his partner's lap, using a chair near the dressing table so he could see himself in the reflection of the mirror as well.
"If you, who are my cardinal, don't know much less I know. Normally you know those things."
The cardinal sighed again, drawing another laugh from Terzo.
"We'll figure it out," the Papa replied along with a shrug. He opened the dresser drawer and pulled out a damp towel from a packet stored in there, with that in hand he turned to face his partner, carefully taking his face to wipe the dark sloppy marks of his own makeup on the opposite face.
"You know I can do that myself right?" murmured Copia closing his eyes to relax into the touch of Terzo's hands.
"Shut up, I'm looking for excuses to keep touching you" the Papa whispered in reply, causing a small blush to appear on Copia's face.
"You don't need excuses for that."
A smile took place on Terzo's lips. "I know."

"Hard day?" asked Copia, approaching his desek.
Terzo let out a sigh and moved his weight to the back of his chair, nodding as he looked at the Cardinal.
"It feels like it will never end."
Copia smiled wearily and leaned down to bring their noses together in a small touch. His nose was automatically painted black, but he didn't care. They had picked up this little habit because of how messy it could be to wipe off the rest of the makeup with other kinds of kisses. It was an easier and more comforting touch.
"It has been quite long, I'll give you that," Copia replied, sitting down on Terzo's legs. The Papa immediately hugged him with one of his arms. "But it wasn't too bad for me."
"I'm glad at least one of us is okay," Terzo reached his free hand to the tip of the other man's nose, wiping away the small smudge of black makeup. "My day gets better with you anyway."
Cardinal let out a small chuckle at that. His cheeks colored slightly.
"It's true," the Papa defended. "You are my little sunshine."
"I'm not going to convince you otherwise, am I?" the cardinal whispered, cuddling into the other man's lap. Terzo hugged him happily as he hummed a 'no'.
