10/06/10 Ayden's 17th birthday in Heaven has started off to a great start! Benny our dog slept through the whole night instead of waking me up 2-3x to go to the bathroom outside since we moved to our temp place on 9/12. Taking him outside is quite the trek and since there is no fenced-in area, it's a trek and wait which isn't so fun in the middle of your sleep cycle, lol! Which means I slept uninterrupted for the first time in weeks! Halleluyah! It was also the first morning that we didn't wake up to rain, wind and chill-you-to-the-bone weather (that lasted all day & evening) in days. Another blessing! Sorry we missed International Dog Day yesterday. I just took this picture of Benny who we rescued in Nov. of 2019 down in our home state of Florida while visiting my dad. He has been a challenge at times, and others a protector, a cuddle bug, a large lap dog, a tug of war enthusiast, a comforter, a total goof ball, a great walking partner and a total sweetheart who is also always ready to wrestle or hang outside with his family. 10/06/21 This past month has not gone as planned. I am not sure why I thought today would be different. However, despite all the bumps and detours, I am grateful to be alive. My son Ayden in this picture would have been 16 today. I can’t believe it. Some days it seems too long ago and others just yesterday since I got to hold him for the first and last time. I pray you are well and happy. I pray you forgive me for not protecting you better. I pray I get to see you again when my time is done here. And I am grateful for all the lessons you taught me while here and beyond. I thank YHWH for you. I am grateful for the people who remember you and go out of there way to let me know they still remember. She graduated 8th grade on 6/14/21 and today on 9/3/21 she starts 9th grade! It seems like just yesterday that she starting 1st grade. Where does the time go? 😭 I am happy she got into her school of choice and honored that she is following in my foot steps taking her art to the next level studying graphic design. Dear Miss Jaya, We have been through so many things and faced so many trials together. More than I wish you would have experienced in a lifetime. But, I know that sometimes the most amazing people have been forged in the fire. I am so happy YHWH blessed me with you 15 years ago. Life can sometimes seem like a roller coaster. 5/21/21 I had the honor of helping Jaya and her bestie Kaitlyn get ready for their 8th grade dance. I also got to take them to a funky spot for their before the dance photos. Jaya’s dress and shoes both timeless and thrifted. Her jewelry borrowed from muah. They are so young yet so grown all at the same time. Where does the time go? Finding the balance of guiding them to the straight path that leads to life, while still giving them the freedom to make choices so they can learn and grow has got to be the hardest part of being a parent. The world does not make that last part very easy either. As these young ladies say goodbye to Middle School and hello to High School, I pray they remember who YHWH created them to be. I pray they remember their worth, embrace their natural gifts and talents and do not feel the need to keep up with the trends so their true beauty & purpose can shine through.
