Its true what they say, a lot of shit can happen in a year, and today marks one year since we released our first “Elevated Monday” preview. And within this past year we know we, like everyone else, have been on that day to day grind shit. We know we got people wondering “what happen to EM?” and “When are they finally gonna drop an album.” Truthfully, It has been a real awkward transition with us living on opposite sides of Cali and sorting out our lives. Allie Moreno is writer and a current MFA candidate in writing at UCSD. Recently, her work has been published in this year's San Diego Poetry Annual as well as Poets on Adoption, a blog curated by Filipina poet Eileen Tabios. Artist : Nathanael Lyle Cedilla

Born in the Philippines. Raised in SD. Redefined by The Bay Area.

Nate is a spoken word artist who first started performing with {m}aganda magazine, one of the longest running Filipino American publications in the country.  Since then, Nate has performed at numerous college conferences, youth events, and UC Berkeley’s 2009 PCN (as director and script writer).

As a queer Filipino American, Nate’s poetry is entirely based on his experiences inside and outside the bedroom. From wordplay to foreplay, his work aims to understand the joys of being queer. When he’s not performing, Nate spends his time as a volunteer HIV counselor and hosting workshops on empowered sex all across California.

Nate’s setlist for The Introduktion is titled Catharsis. This 3 piece collection details his struggles as a post grad. While each piece is a heavy topic, like any form of catharsis, his work ends on a positive note of strength and hope.

With a strong belief in progress through the Arts, Elevated Masses formed in 2009.  But the friendship between Oli Bata and Just Ra began in elementary school. However, their family ties are rooted in the motherland, Bayambang Philippines. This sense of family influences the movement hence, their outlook on creating a family of artists through The Elevated Family. As they grew up their interest in Art & Music grew as well.  

Through community organizations like Anakbayan San Diego and Kuya Ate Mentorship Program (KAMP) the two became allies of the people and found a home amongst the Masses.  Family ties mixed with poetry, music, art and a focus on positivity birthed the group. Focused on good vibes and positivity, unconcerned with their own progress in the musical hustle, EM always places other artists before themselves.  Understanding the need to push from behind rather than lead from the front.  

We aim to Elevate the Masses and Elevate The Mental.

ROCKY R3Y or simply Rocky is a 3rd generation artist following the footsteps of his late grandfather of the Philippines famous "REYCARD Duet" and his Father who was a traveling Musician. ROCKY has gained recognition as one half of the hip hop group INTR1KT. Based out of San Diego Ca, Rocky has made recurring appearances in many Filipino festivals in Southern California with hopes to become recognized within the Filipino Community and San Diego. During the summer of 2007 Rawfiki, e[dot], and Pil1 constantly pitched ideas to each other designs that would bring different perspectives into streetwear clothing.
