In this video from January 9, 2024, Jenan and her family make mini pizza from scratch using the assorted food items available. (Content Warning: gunfire can be heard in the background of this video.)
Jenan and her family have been displaced to Rafah as a result of the war.

Note: It is important to note that Palestinians in Gaza are experiencing different levels of food insecurity and resource scarcity. The assortment of ingredients available to her are not like what was available before the war. She and her family are "making do" with what they have and can afford. At the same time, people in Northern Gaza have even less. But food insecurity, especially during war time, doesn't always look how we see in TV and movies. (I'm pointing this out because I have seen some comments on her Instagram from people saying "it isn't that bad, you have food.")
not unfollowing a mutual who hasnt posted in 9 months out of loyalty and love like a widow still setting a place at the dinner table for her husband who died in the war
The IOF lies. It's inherently part of their zionist settler-colonial agenda -literally. They are not to be trusted -everything they say is meant to distort and distract people from what is really going on. This is just another example of this.
israel is bombing rafah. as you read this, israel is bombing the one place they told palestinians was safe. they kept pushing the palestinians south and now they are bombing the only "safe" place left. israel is bombing rafah.
And it just happened—Nasser Hospital, the main hospital in southern Gaza, is completely out of service. Only 4 staff are left taking care of the patients, of whom there are hundreds. This leaves Palestinians curled up on the floor in agony waiting for medical help—only there aren’t even enough medical supplies to tend to them even with healthcare workers on hand.
Israel actually did it. They have blatantly targeted a hospital, abducted its healthcare workers, and left it entirely out of function. And nobody stopped them.
Wanted to let you guys know that Let’s Talk Palestine has just launched fundsforgaza, an initiative created for the purpose of highlighting families in urgent need of emergency funds. This list highlights families who’re trying to evacuate Gaza, but which aren’t getting enough attention. Please donate if you can—and whether or not you can, spread this to as many people as possible. The delay between this second and the next could make a difference in whether a family gets to live or not.
Repost of Instagram post by alessandra_sanguinetti:
“In 2004 I worked as an intern in Newsweek and had to go through the wires coming in from the Middle East.
The Iraq war was raging. Israel was committing its routine violations and killings.
The images were devastating and unequivocally condemning of both the USA and Israel, but I remember the editors would reject all my picks and demand images of burnt cars or vague images of destruction.
So I brought a hard drive and collected everything they didn't publish.
It was my first live glimpse of the lack of ethics or integrity in most US media.
Not the journalists on the ground, but of the senior editors making the calls - in their self important glass cubicles.
And no, to the cynics out there..it's not all too complicated to discuss on social media.
Social media is the only reason we know what's happening in Palestine.
And the only reason mainstream news has to keep up and sprinkle some actual news now and then.
Meanwhile we are seeing much less footage coming out of Gaza - Israel has been killing off all the journalists.
This is terrifying.”
