NOTES ABOUT THE ERA

౨ৎ the debut ep is here ! grab your popcorn and a stress reliever because this was a wild ass ride.

౨ৎ officially hitting streaming services on february 3rd, the girls were hit with mixed reviews yet again. some complaining about yet another group with lore, some praising them for their vocal ability, and other just glad there was a group out there with enough talent to handle both. in the end, if it was streamed, the girls all collectively decided not to pay mind any negativity. ( and honestly, good for them. )

౨ৎ unlike the perception for the debut single, VIVIENNE was better received this time around, much to her surprise and secret relief. a clip of her stunning visuals during promotional appearances made rounds on twitter which led to even more eyes on the group. she would go on to famously shrug when asked about her rise in popularity, saying ‘ that’s how the world works. they hate you one day, love you the next. ’ she would sport this nonchalant attitude for the rest of their appearances, but even she couldn’t help but shed a few tears for each win they received.

౨ৎ while appearing on music core to perform SWEET JUICE, the girls—or rather RANI—went viral amongst netizens for a short video that was quick to circulate. taken by an unknown source, the clip depicts a clearly disgruntled RANI telling off someone hidden by the shadows backstage. although the footage doesn’t reveal what is being said due to a performance happening at the same time, her body language showed just how upset she was. in the end, she’s pulled off to the side by a redhead, who is believed to be HYEJIN. sentiments about RANI seemed to go downhill after that, until it was revealed that the out of context clip had been the result of a wardrobe disfunction pertaining to DAWN’s outfit before their performance. and just like a flip of a coin, RANI was then hailed as someone you definitely wanted in your corner.

౨ৎ the ep boasted a humble 7 wins for its promotional period, including an inkigayo triple crown. all the girls cried at each win to varying degrees, with XIÙ having to turn around during several of their speeches. at one point DAWN had to step up to thank their fans when HYEJIN could barely get a word out, bluntly thanking everyone before bursting into tears herself.

౨ৎ interactions were at an all time high! despite not meeting yet, netizens were quick to spot the uncanny resemblance between HYEJIN and stray kids’ HYUNJIN, even joking that the two may have even been separated at birth. XIÙ was given flowers by a random upcoming artist, smiling sweetly at him until DAWN leaned over to snatch the flowers out of his hands and stare at him until he bowed and scurried off. on a variety show, VIVIENNE was asked what her ideal type was, to which she deadpanned a sharp ‘ i’m not interested in wasting my time when no one’s frontal lobe has been developed yet ’, causing the interviewer to stare at her in disbelief. a few groups were caught looking at the girls in varying degrees of interest and curiosity, sparking both rumors and speculation possible future interactions.

౨ৎ during a live, one of the girls had caught wind of a fan uploading group and personal profiles for them, so they quickly located the website to see if any of the info rang true. and in true DAWN fashion, she was quick to point out one of the irregularities in the fan’s perception. ‘ she did not f—ing say that, ’ she would say, completely forgetting about the live. ‘ you’re lying on the internet and people are believing you. this is tr— ’ HYEJIN is seen covering her mouth before the live mysteriously cuts out.

౨ৎ during another live, this time unboxing each other their albums, RANI can be seen peering over at VIVIENNE’s photocards. what she said in full was too low to be heard, but the words ‘ church girl ’ and ‘ autumn ’ were picked up by the camera. both VIVIENNE and DAWN can be seen trying to hold back their laughter.

౨ৎ due to the limited version being.. limited.. stores reported an increase of albums being stolen or damaged due to the inclusions the album had. it became so apparent that the girls themselves put out statements regarding the issue, from HYEJIN’s ‘ please do the right thing! ’ to VIVIENNE’s ‘ steal better things ’ gracing their twitter. ( VIVIENNE’s post was soon deleted for something more appropriate. )
