Thinking of the theme of “giving up” in Garak and Bashir’s relationship.
“So that’s it? You just going to give up and let them win?” in the Wire The Lethean mocking Bashir for giving up tennis, and romance with Jadzia. “Is that what they taught you in the Obsidian Order? To give up when things get difficult?” in Our Man Bashir "ohh don't give up on me yet." "Don't give up on me yet, Doctor"
Giving up on each other, giving up on themselves, giving up on their goals.
Julian seems to see giving up as among the most shameful things he could possibly do. It's such a tender spot for him that it's an easy way to attack him. As a doctor, of course. What is the point of his augmentations if he gives up before he can save everyone? But it's tipped over into his personal relationships too. He's relentless, he's too forward, he will not leave well enough alone.
Garak on the other hand knows the value of giving up. He's been trained to recognize the right moment for a strategic retreat. What an inconvenience then, that he's found someone who will not give up on him no matter how hard he tries to make him

“Degenerate art” confiscated by Central Command; kept in the private study of some high ranking Obsidian Order operative who collects Hebitian artifacts out of “academic interest.”

Ripping off this Remnev painting while I try to learn how the heck to digital again.  That pose is not a very cardassian thing to do

garashir is incredible because you have an exiled spy for an oppressive state with fucked parentage who doesn’t want to let himself be happy, but also can’t resist temptation; then you have a genius doctor who comes across as naive and too optimistic, but has had an ongoing identity crisis since the age of 15 because he learned his parents’ solution to his childhood disabilities was eugenics
and yet somehow they are so lame, just so embarrassing

i think this is canon for breen. it’s why their helmets have that long snoot, to protect the carrot.

He holds a cup of gravel in his throat and uses the sounds they make to approximate speech well enough for the UT to pick it up.
wait how does Odo speak? like humanoids and animals and stuff have vocal chords in order to speak, but Odo's just goop pretending to be humanoid, and im pretty sure he's just fully liquid inside... so what is he using to talk?
do shapeshifters just have the ability to talk/make sounds even as goop? or does he have to create a separate little voice box for him to be able to speak? how is he creating the sound??
like i understand that he doesn't really need eyes to see and stuff (they're sort of just for looks, aren't they? he doesn't actually need a face or anything. it's just to look more humanoid), so is it sort of just like that?
how do shapeshifter's senses work???? how is he talking?????
