Crosshair tenses at the contact, and Hunter can hear his breathing hitch, but he doesn’t otherwise react, his hand steady as he paints. But he needs to be closer, and he shifts, throwing a leg over Crosshair’s, draping his arm over his back, and resting his chin on his shoulder to watch him work.

Crosshair huffs out an amused breath. “You know I’m busy, right?”

“I know,” Hunter answers, nuzzling Crosshair’s neck and just inhaling his scent.

Hunter had never expected that a supply run gone wrong could lead him and Crosshair to where they are now. He’d wanted Crosshair back from the moment he heard from Echo that Crosshair had been rescued from a prisoner transport. No, that’s not true. He’d wanted Crosshair back from the moment they left him behind on Kamino the first time. But finding alone time with just each other is harder than they’d anticipated.

He knows Crosshair, and he doesn’t need to hear the details to get a full picture in his head of what must have transpired. Even after all this time, they can still read each other. They just need some time to adjust to the way each other has changed.

“Crosshair –” he starts, and he doesn’t know what he’s planning to say yet. Just – something.

He doesn’t get the chance to finish.

Crosshair shoves him back against the tree trunk, and his mouth is on Hunter’s before he even registers what’s happening.

It’s been a long time since Hunter has seen Crosshair, over a year since they left him on Kamino. But now they’re together again, and he’s just as conflicted as he was then. Crosshair left, but then he turned on Empire, and then they got him back. Or rather, and then he came back to them, Omega in tow. Hunter’s glad to have them back, but he doesn’t know what Crosshair wants from them. If he wants anything. It’s the if that hurts the worst.

Something I haven't seen mentioned much since the episode they came up in - The Return was all about unlocking Nala Se's datapad full of medical records, which Echo took with them and we have not heard back on those. We're down to the finale, and I don't think Nala Se's medical records have come up at ALL.

So. What's on those that it was so important we spent a whole episode on it? Does it have something to do with the CX program? Is Tech's information in there?

Anyway theory that this is how we get the tracker out of a CX at some point, hopefully CX-2. We've already set up that they know how to remove the zapper, the tracker is the only other barrier.

Crosshair’s plan is sure to be terrifying, but it’s good to know that Crosshair and Tech are spending so much time together. They’ve always been close, all of them, but those bonds have only deepened with the way their relationships have morphed. And if Echo is insecure about his body, well, they had best show him exactly how cared for he is. “What’s your plan?” Crosshair’s grin is both evil and feral, and Hunter thinks he ought to be way more terrified of it than he is.

Not this time. He was in Crosshair’s lap within the span of two heartbeats. Hunter took the bottle out of his hand and set it aside, uncaring that the mostly empty bottle tipped over. He cradled Crosshair’s face in his hands, and kissed him.

appreciation post for the Bad Batch writers leaving Batcher to live her best civilian life on Pabu so we don't have to dread her protective instincts granting her an untimely end back at Tantiss

At the risk of going full clown hours though, this is one of those things I took to signal we'll get a fairly happy ending and a return to Pabu (even if not permanently?). Can't just leave her forgotten and separated with no further screen time, considering how present she was until ep 12.

Similarly, as things that started forming up my optimistic finale expectations early- episode 10. Sad and dark as it was, it sort of... raised the stakes *too* high? Can't not save the literal baby.

Anyway I miss Batcher though and I look forward to the very nice everything is fine now we're all together in our beach attire sipping fancy drinks and lounging with our emotional support dog epilogue please and thank you.
