Aaaaaah. “Livvy, my baby, please, sweetheart, open your eyes, it’s Jules, I’m here for you, I’m always here for you, please, please—” and "High above the Council Hall, the golden clock began to chime the hour.". Kills me every time.
Finished Lord of Shadows and now I’m silenced. Gagged.

Actually it was proven by historians that Will Herondale was the first person to say "If there's a Will, there's a way." It was such a cool quote that it was used by people all around the world and in time the name "Will" changed to the noun "will". But we can't deny it's origin.
RIP William Herondale you would’ve loved to say “if there’s a Will… there’s a way” before any / every big mission

We should appreciate Cassandra Clare more.
Can you imagine the amount of effort Cassandra Clare puts in her books? Every single book is filled with literary, historic and religious references, mentions of various cultures and foreign languages that I am sure needed a lot of research that took so much time.
- There are so many characters with different nationalities such as Cordelia, Alastair and Sona who are Persian, Cristina, Jaime and Diego who are Mexican, Jem Carstairs who is Chinese and Celine Montclaire  who is French. Throughout the books they often speak their mother tongue and those parts are written with help of speakers of those specific languages. Their overall cultures and language are reflected very well throughout the books.
- The entire Infernal Devices series is based on A Tale Of Two Cities.
- The titles of the stories from Ghosts of The Shadow Market are references to novels, poems, proverbs etc.
- The chapter titles of Lady Midnight are from the poem “Annabel Lee”.
- Characters such as Will and Jace can quote from any literary or religious text.
- The locations of the books such as Devil Tavern and Chiswick House from The Last Hours and Hidden Treasures from Lady Midnight and so many more are real places. Cassandra Clare has visited most of them and writes the descriptions accordingly.
- The route Will takes in Clockwork Princess as he goes to save Tessa was mapped and most of the inns he visited and roads he took were real.
- The excerpts from Layla and Majnun from The Last Hours were taken from the 1836 translation because it is said that’s the one Cordelia would have owned.
If you skip the “Notes on the text” part at the end of the books like I used to I suggest you read it to understand how much effort has been put into the book you have read, now that I have the books are much more valuable and important to me. I think Cassandra Clare is more than just a young adult fiction author and those books aren’t simply young adult fantasy novels. There is real passion and effort behind them and they and the author should be appreciated more.

Jem Carstairs: the biggest plot twist to ever exist
Jem during TID: *is dying slowly, has barely a few years to live, doesn’t think he will get to live his life*
Also Jem: *almost dies, becomes a silent brother and lives for over a century, gets burnt with heavenly fire which rids him of the drug contaminating his blood, steals his cat, looks for the lost Herondale line, fights in three wars, marries a warlock, has a child and adopts another, lives happily ever after*

Isn’t it funny how the main couples of TID and TLH both follow the „two parabatai fall for the same girl“ trope and TMI and TDA main couples are based on the „forbidden love“ trope?

Thinking about the funny age misconceptions that would occur in TSC due to immortality & faerie
Like Tessa and Lucie def had a period where they were mistaken for twins when out in public together
Emma and Julian are out to lunch with Tessa and Jem and someone calls “Carstairs” for an order and both Emma and Jem stand up out of habit but then the staff thinks that they are the one’s who are married (bc they look nothing alike)
Poor Clary would be triggered bc she and Ash don’t look that far apart in age to begin with combined with the fact that Ash is way taller than her someone would mistake Clary for being Ash’s younger sister 😭
Tessa eternally looks like a college kid and Kit will be 18 so some mundane could def mistake Tessa for being Kit’s girlfriend if they saw Kit hugging her 😭

“The perfect declaration of love doesn’t exi-“
Jace Herondale: Hold my quote.
“There is no pretending,” Jace said with absolute clarity. “I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there’s a life after that, I’ll love you then.”

Y'all don't understand, cause my eyes will fall out from crying when Janus dies in TWP. I know he committed unspeakable crimes but cassie will find a way to make it the most heart wrenching story in tsc, I already feel bad for him and I know he will die protecting Clary

manifesting the Blackthorns have the nastiest, most nauseatingly angsty epic train wreck of a fight in TWP. perhaps in the second book or whenever they all find out about Livvy. like it's awful and you can't look away as they're all at their worst with the people they love the most, who they would do and have done anything for. it's the bloodiest fight any of them have ever been in and there wasn't even any weapons involved, just words they didn't mean and cannot take back. like they all care so much about one another but things have changed and none of them cope with it at all so instead it all just. blows up. like Ty only ever wanted to keep everyone together and go back to how things were, but instead he's the one who inadvertently fractures them; the unavoidabe fate of Blackthorns siblings.
