Bill seemed unsatisfied with this answer and began probing the professor for another reason, but his initial answer rolled right off Astra’s shoulders. While she thought Bill had several qualities that would make her stand out from the rest of the class, she didn't regard her own self as anything that remarkable. It was true she could play guitar and was fairly gifted in academics, but in the end she was just another face in a sea of people. Tiny in comparison to everything else, tiny compared to the vastness of the universe. She put a gentle hand on Bill’s shoulder, “Bill, relax.”
She then looked to the professor, and for a moment something seemed to nag at the very back of her mind, like a memory of a dream, but she shrugged it off, “All right even if we’re not special there has to be a reason for you inviting us to your office. So what is it then?”
Astra’s nose wrinkled, something about that answer was off. It was obvious an antique but if he didn’t build it then how’d her get it in the door? It was too big. Bill shifted in her seat and Astra knew that her friend was thinking the same thing. When he repeated his question they answered in unison, their voices lapping over each other.
“Because it’s the best.”
“Cause it’s amazing.”
The girls laughed, and Astra looked at the Doctor, “We love them everyone does.”
And she did, they were fascinating but it was more than that, somehow when he spoke in his lectures, when he really got going, she would get a feeling in her chest. Excited and warm, like a child’s joy. She felt safe and happy in that lecture hall, her migraines and nightmares didn’t bother her there.
Bill chirped up, “And, for the record, there are plenty of people that come to your lectures that aren’t supposed to-“
Astra caught on to what she was aiming at and finished her sentence, “what’s so special about us?”

Bill slid into a chair in front of his desk and launched into an explanation, except it wasn’t really one. It was the story about her giving the mystery hot girl extra chips ever day and Astra tapped her on the shoulder, her voice low, “Bill, I love you, but that story doesn’t answer his question at all-“
“Yeah, suppose it doesn’t. I was hoping something would develop,” Bill nodded and pointed at herself and then Astra. “but Bill Potts and Astra Smith-“
“We work in the canteen,” Astra finished.
She sat as well and her eyes darted back to the police box, which Bill must have seen as the next words out of her mouth were, “What’s with the box? Did you build it from a kit or something?”

Astra couldn’t tear her eyes away from the telephone booth. She and her mate Bill Pots had been told to report to a professor’s office. Their favorite professor in the school, neither of them were actually enrolled but they’d made a habit of sneaking into lectures, and his were the best. No lecture was like the previous one and he never taught what he was actually supposed to and they both loved it, so the invitation to meet with him had been met with tentative glee. On the one hand they got to meet him, on the other hand it might only be for him to kick them out.
In the office was a telephone booth of all things, one of the old deep blue ones for the police, and while Bill continue to look around, she simply stared. How had he even gotten it in there? And why did it feel so…comforting? Looking at it was like looking at a great work of art, it made her heart pound and her body warm for reasons she couldn’t place. In a trance, disregarding the out of order sign, she reached for the door handle-
The sound of an electric guitar jarred her out of it, and she jumped back, brown curls bouncing around her face, she spun to look at Bill, who was equally surprised and together they looked towards the noise. Bill cleared her throat and Astra nodded, “Hello?”

Hope was exhausted. Beyond exhausted. Essentially ready to just hit the ground. She had escaped Rassilon’s containment facility after a brutal regeneration had knocked out half the the place and she’d been on the run ever since. She didn’t even know what she looked like. Hopping from one edge of existence to the other just trying to find her family and stay safe and stay alive. But she had nothing left to give.
For reasons she could only blame on her regeneration she hadn’t been able to lock onto the TARDIS, she had tried, stars had she tried. So far she had ended up seemingly everywhere but there. Which is why when she saw a familiar blue and felt the warm presence of the machine on the swampy jungle planet she was currently on, she let out a sob. Her body screaming and her mouth tasting metallic she hobbled towards the police box. She didn’t care who was inside, at least she would be safe and somewhat home.
Saying a silent apology knowing the TARDIS didn’t care for it, she pushed her whole body against the doors and tumbled in.

Hey a bit out of no where but would anyone be interested in some roleplay? It’s been a while since I’ve got to use Hope and I miss it.

The Doctor’s joy brought a smile to Hope’s face and she couldn’t help but laugh at the appearance of the small swing set in her room. But a strong sadness tugged at her hearts. This was recognizable behavior from her father, it was the dreamer in them. They would find a shreds of good thing and cling to it, jumping into impossible wonderful scenarios and disregarding logic and questions. Because once one began to lean into those things the fantasy began to fade like breath on a mirror.
Things like, the last time the Doctor had seen her in her current timeline would’ve been on her eighth birthday on Darillium when she was stolen away. Questions of, what about the chameleon arch and where had she been for the last decade of her own life. Because none of those things should matter because she’s here now, but it did matter.
“Dad, I can’t.” She scooted to the end of her bed, her long legs dangling of the edge. Her father’s legs, her mother always said. “At least not forever, it’s not time yet. I have-“
She was going to say she had to get back to her family but that felt silly, the woman in-front of her was her family. But she had her own version of her father to return to, and her mother and sister and her best friend and girlfriend. She couldn’t stay forever, and instead of finishing her sentence she simply pointed to the picture frames behind the Doctor.
There were four on the shelf. The first was a couple, River Song’s famous curls framed her smiling face as she laughed with a man with salt and pepper sandy hair, a beard, half moon glasses, and a large birthmark across his face. The next was of Hope with two people her own age, a blonde girl in military green and a boy with dark skin and smart eye- all three were covered in grease and working on a K-9 unit. The third picture was of Hope laughing as her face was being kissed by a tall girl with dyed green hair and patches of shining green scales. And the last was a group picture was of all the previous subjects with the addition of a put off looking woman with platinum hair, all standing in front of the TARDIS.
“They’re waiting for me.”
@doctor-jane-smith
The Doctor leaned forward slightly on the swing seat she sat upon, her trusty welding goggles covering her eyes as a flurry of sparks emanating from the small welding torch she was using danced around her. The TARDIS made a series of VWOORP-ing sounds as it addressed the Time Lady, whose tongue was stuck out in concentration.
"I'm almost done!" The Doctor replied, as she welded the loose wire coupling back into place. "Just give me a tick." The TARDIS responded back with a short VWEEP. "Once I've re-aligned the spacial and temporal co-ordinators and reversed the polarity of the Harmony stasis, your defences will be fully operational and we'll be on our way."
Having secured the coupling back into position, The Doctor turned her attention to a series of loose wires next to her, which she proceeded to connect back into the appropriate ports that fed into the TARDIS console. The TARDIS emitted a high VWOOP noise. "I promise Tiny won't get near to the mainframe again. I've put him in a hard light cage that even his sharp Pting teeth can't get through."
All of a sudden, the TARDIS and The Doctor were alerted to the surprise visitor who had made their way into the console room, the latter removing her goggles and immediately leaping out of the swing seat, her legs propelling her quickly up the flight of stairs back to the centre of the room, where her startled eyes immediately locked upon...
"HOPE!?!"

Hope awoke in her mind first. It was quiet and she was sitting on her bed in the TARDIS. Of course, it wasn’t really her room. Just a mental projection of it in a psychic space. One of the giveaways was that her bed, with its plush pillows and alien stuffed toys and deep blue blankets, was completely still. Which she knew was normal for most, but as her bed was suspended from the ceiling by heavy chains, was not her normal. The quiet and the soft light of her room was nice. The dark brass and copper walls inflated with shining stone and her metal and crystal baubles all glittered and twinkled. The familiar bookshelves and cabinets cluttered with knick knacks, books, manuscripts, and photos soothed her. Everything was in its place and with a flick of a switch she could lower her walls and see her friends, if this was her actual room that is, which it wasn’t.
She sighed and stretched and wondered where her body was. Based on the truly blissful quiet, the alleviation of the constant knocking of the vortex on her mind, she had to assume the Doctor had moved her to the zero room. Was she still out there? Sliding off of her bed, Hope went to her door, she couldn’t leave the room currently, it would be impractical to leave her own mind, but she could unlock it. She unlatched the door and pressed her forehead against the cool metal, feeling the edges of her mental space. Psychic and telepathic abilities had always been her forte, so this would be a snap. A little message floating in the enclosed telepathic space created by the zero room saying, ‘Come on in if you like.’

The blonde girl, the one that came after her father, all that pain and sadness stuff fresh in mind. Hope groaned and gripped the edge of the console, a wave of exhaustion and nausea shooting through her. Jumps drained her and her body was automatically knitting itself back together. Which should be good but it meant her body was automatically using energy it did not have and internal organs would start to shut down.
She let out a hoarse laugh, “Really? First time you saw me again you had no idea who was, neither did I but my consciousness was locked up all nice and tidy in a watch. That’s also a long time in your future so this interaction is going to cause some problems, nothing that can’t be fixed in a snap and oh-!”
She kneeled over slightly, it was starting and the TARDIS made a noise that can only be described as anxious and worried, “explanations later I think, first medbay and a nutrient IV, quickly.”

Hope really did not want to make a habit of getting shot at on spaceships, but given her family that seemed completely inevitable at this point. So here she was, she had broken off from the others claiming she would get back to the TARDIS on her own, which was proving easier said than done. A hot bolt of plasma whizzed by her as she skidded round a corner, nearly vaulting herself into a wall as her trainers lost traction on the metal floor. Scrambling on, the young Time Lady turned another corner which, to her dismay, came to an abrupt dead end. With no other way out and guards closing in fast, she knew she had to make a jump, she didn’t have a choice. She closed her eyes and began to concentrate. Focusing on the TARDIS and the vortex, a warm rushing feeling filled her and light grew around her. ‘It’s just a simple step,’ she told herself. ‘Into the vortex and then popping out-’
Gathering her courage she stepped forward, but suddenly something hit her in the side and she stumbled. Pain exploded around her side and her eyes flew open as she fell forward and against a railing; a familiar comforting hum filled her ears. She had made it to the TARDIS, but something was wrong. She leaned against the console, a bit dizzy and disoriented from the vortex jump and the growing feelings of agony that she presumed was from a minor plasma bolt wound on her side. The console room desktop was wrong, she realized. Was she in one of the archived ones? No, because then the power would be off. This left her with a singular option- she had gotten the wrong console room, which meant in turn, likely the wrong Doctor.
‘I’m so going to get a lecture when I get home-‘

Hello! I'm 18+ and looking for a Doctor Who roleplay with original characters. My OC is a non-canon version of the Doctor, and I'd like to write him against an original companion or rival. I'm hoping to find writers who like adventure, character building, and collaborating as a creative pair. Please be someone who's patient with replies as real life comes first for us both. Interact with this post for more information!

———-
Author’s forward: This is a brief and incomplete history of my oc Hope Song as, in the true spirit of the source material, I am continuing to write her story without a clear end (also to make roleplaying a little bit more flexible and fun). Hope is my own character and I try to formulate her into the events of the Doctor Who universe as well as I can though I am met with struggles as I have not taken in every piece of Doctor Who ever to be published and because I have actively changed some parts to fit my narrative (which I would like to teasingly say is also in the spirit of the source material). The main things I’ve changed is the conclusion of season 9 of ‘new who’ with the Doctor being the hybrid (which to speak honestly is partly because I just didn’t like how it was done) and by being very selective with which major plot points I include in my universe after the twelfth Doctor (such as the timeless child). This being said please enjoy a brief rundown of my little unofficial addition to Doctor who.
Hope Gallifreya Song was born to River Song and the Doctor during the couple’s third year of their occupation on the planet Darillium. They lived in a large house along the far outskirts of where anyone else lived, for the sake of privacy. Growing up, Hope was loved deeply by her parents and met and was watched by many of their friends, she also had a K-9 unit that performed duties of a nanny, guard, and companion.
When she was almost five years old she began exhibiting strange and unnatural behaviors revolving around the vortex and artron energy. As a child she had the ability to levitate and cause changes to objects, heal small ailments, and showed vast telepathic ability, but she was unable to always call upon these abilities making it near impossible for real control to be taught. However it did become clear that strong emotions could amplify them and that the potential for what she could do as she got older and gained more control was great. It did also inspire fear for her safety in the Doctor and River, they were worried that these abilities would lead to others trying to hurt their daughter. They were right to be afraid.
---------------------
TW for some distressing themes
On Hope’s eighth birthday, the happy family were celebrating at Darillium’s famous restaurant when the forces from Gallifrey surrounded the area and stormed the establishment. In fire and chaos the family found each other and the Doctor told River to take their daughter and get back to the TARDIS, hoping that he could reason with his people. River took Hope, intent on reaching the ship and running away to hide with allies that the Time Lords were unaware of, but she was pinned down by falling debris. Hope, after being begged by her mother, went on but was captured by a guard. Taken before her parents and the leaders of Gallifrey, it was revealed that the Time Lords had identified Hope as the Hybrid and wished to dispose of her for the greater good of their planet and the universe. After desperate pleas from the Doctor, a bargain was struck- Hope could live but her true self was to be locked away in a chameleon arch and she was then to be placed on Earth. If they searched for her then the bargain was off and she would be put to death.
Hope then lived out the next ten and a half years as a human in the foster care system, going by the name, Astra Smith. To her knowledge, she had been in a terrible car accident with her parents as an infant, an accident which only she had survived. The only thing she had to remember them by was a broken fob watch. The accident had also done damage to her body and she grew up with constant awful headaches
