──── CHAPTER 04 : what is he doing here
"I can’t believe you," Aether spoke up, "could you not read the room? Can't you see the looks he gave Y/N?"
"How was I supposed to know that?" Hu Tao responded, rolling her eyes as she filled her plate with food.
"You are unbelievable," Aether sighed. "Where even is Xiao?" he mumbled before someone caught his attention.
"Oh look, it’s Childe!" he exclaimed, making Hu Tao turn to look. "Childe over here!—" But before Aether could finish his sentence, Hu Tao spoke up, "Who’s that behind him?"
"Kunikuzushi!?"
"Isn’t this fun?" Childe said happily as they both made their way through the crowd. "Sure," replied Kunikuzushi, rolling his eyes.
"I'm glad you showed up!" exclaimed Childe. "Well, I didn’t have a choice," grumbled Kunikuzushi.
"Let’s go get drinks!" exclaimed Childe. "You gotta try the punch; it’s amazing," he added.
"Oh wait— isn’t that Y/N?" Childe spoke up. "With Albedo!?" he gasped, making Kunikuzushi turn to look.
Albedo, also one of the smartest students and the only person who could keep up with Kunikuzushi.
"Let’s go talk to them," Childe suddenly spoke up. He must’ve seen the glares Kunikuzushi was throwing at you both.
"Keqing said you were looking for me earlier," you spoke up, trying to avoid the awkward atmosphere.
"Oh— yeah," Albedo nodded. "I just wanted to congratulate you on your win today," he smiled. "You played well— I mean, you always do, of course!" he continued, his face turning red.
"Thank you," you laughed. But before the both of you could speak, you were interrupted.
"Y/N!" called out Childe, a bright smile on his face as he approached you with Kunikuzushi trailing behind him. "Albedo, hello!" Childe smiled.
"Hi," Albedo greeted back. "Childe, hi!" You smiled, not noticing the person behind Childe. "Kunikuzushi?" said Albedo, finally acknowledging him.
Your mouth slightly opened in shock as you finally noticed him. You sent Childe a look that said, "Why is he here?" but he just shrugged it off with a wink.
"What were you guys talking about?" asked Childe, a cheeky smile on his face.
"I was just congratulating them," replied Albedo. "Ah, yes," Childe nodded. "Y/N really did play well today, didn't they, Kuni?" Childe smiled, nudging Kunikuzushi. "I don't know—I wasn't even there," he mumbled, sending Childe a dirty look.
"Oh, um, Y/N, why don't I get you a drink?" Albedo spoke up. "Thank yo—" Before you could even finish, Childe interrupted. "Why don't we get drinks together instead, Albedo?" Childe offered, a smile on his face. "I'm sure Kunikuzushi can accompany Y/N!"
But before Albedo could reject Childe's offer, he was being dragged away. "Have fun!" Childe yelled, winking at you both before walking away with a struggling Albedo by his side.
