I highly suspect this happened to me, since none of my interactions show up and I quoted a part of my previous posts at least once, which could have trigged an automatic spam filter response.

I can understand spam restriction measures at such a large platform to a certain point, but being unable to quote yourself at all without falling under the raster is just too much. @staff

Outdoor cats being mainstream in Europe doesn’t make it right. There’s no reason to treat cats roam around freely, you wouldn’t do that with any other pet. What you can do is taking walks with your cats on a leash like with a dog! But all evidence is in favour of indoor keeping. I once had a neighbor who was thoroughly convinced their indoor/outdoor cat never strayed further than a couple houses around. As proof, she put a GPS tracker and little camera on her cat. 24 hours later she had the proof she didn't want. Her cat went as far as a mile away, into the nearby woods where their were coyotes and other predators that would a snack of her cat. Her cat crossed the interstate several times, went to a construction site, and various other places that had me surprised her cat was still alive.

The following week was full of them building a catio and enriching their home. The cat became an indoor cat and chilled out very happily in the catio. They spent the summer harness and leash training their cat as well.

Oh, and the cat killed over a dozen birds and didn't eat any of them in the single day my owner tracked them with the camera and GPS. They had been going out daily for over a year. Imagine a cat killing 12 birds a day, everyday, for just a year. That devastates the local bird population and leads to the extinction of entire species.

Enrich your home, install a catio, get a few cat trees/towers, play with your cat, and they'll live long healthy lives. No worries about some random person killing them with poison or shooting them, no worries about them getting hit by a car, no worries about destroying the local ecosystem. My cats are 17 and 15 years old, 100% indoors their entire lives, and they're happy.

Oh and since avian flu aka bird flu is spreading, please remember that it kills animals that eat the contaminated meat. That means if a cat kills an infected bird and eats it, they will get sick and die.

In my opinion, not only donating, but hosting fanfiction there (which still allows others to come across the “underage”, “non-con” and real person-fiction content) and staying “neutral” (aka, in favour of such content) about this fiasco rather than taking a stance against this. It will take some time for the others still continuing to use it, but if others stop commenting on their fics on AO3, but instead note their boycott in the comments of sites these stories are crossposted to (Tumblr, Twitter etc.)  “Great story, I won’t leave you kudos on AO3 though since I’m boycotting them because they support CP ... I use site X for my fanfiction now ...” will motivate others to move away from AO3 as well.

As long Fanfiction.net and Wattpad exist for SFW and Fanfiction.online for NSFW stories, I see no reason to use AO3. PS: Just in case someone tries to spread misinformation on Livejournal: It was bought by a company in Russia, where all LGBT-positive content is illegal. It was not a choice the previous owners made and there’s no reason to assume that renowned pro-LGBT sites like Fanfiction & Wattpad would do that.

A quick question for the anti shippers out there, regarding Archive of our Own: What specifically constitutes supporting it? Is it giving them money? Or just having an account and posting there? I'm asking because I recently made an account but I don't know whether or not I should've, or if I should keep it up. I've seen someone in the anti tag (who's name I don't remember) claim that they still use Ao3 to either read or write fanfics because there were no better alternatives, something I partially agree with. I've only found a handful of good fanfics on Fanfiction.net, and I've found almost nothing worth reading on Wattpad.

Just to clear it up, I'm not gonna donate to Ao3. A site that proudly hosts child porn doesn't deserve a cent of anyone's cash, and I don't have any money to donate anyways, and if having an account counts as support, I'll delete it.

I completely agree with this and it’s important for antis, especially those that were not CSA survivors themselves, to always keep this in mind without excusing their apologism that might victimise others, but isn’t just pointing out how proshipping does harm is exactly what most antis are doing, though? Many antis report to have been harassed as well, but it’s hard to estimate how much either group gets on average, since they don’t publish every single ask they get.

Finding a proper sociological analysis of DDLG is difficult - it's not as extensively studied as child abuse - but I found a paper outlining that convicted offenders who possessed child pornography felt their urges fueled by them, not calmed. I’m not making this up, this is literally what pedos do trying to get social acceptance by rebranding themselves as “MAP” or “NOMAP” to get access to CP and minor spaces. They are not “non-offending”, they’re lying. If they were, they would go to therapy instead of promoting pedophilia online.

Kinks, fetishes and paraphilia don't develop out of nowhere. They’re not a sexual orientation or gender identity, they’re learned. I really wish DDLG would be as harmless as many proponents like to claim, but from what I've seen, it's not just as easy as "a few predators using it as a cover, but that doesn’t mean that the practice itself is unsafe", but it seems very plausible that actively fueling a sexualisation of childish items, or even childishness itself (even if it's in conflict with the LG/LB participant being a physical and mental adult) could be a gateway to actual pedophilia - especially if it takes advantage of an age regression moment, a very vulnerable, non-sexual state of mind that is never sexualised in therapy.  An if you’re a CSA survivor that somehow uses DDLG (or writing fictional CP) as a “coping mechanism”: No therapist recommends re-enacting your trauma, but Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT).

And the main problem stands: DDLG sexualises children’s items and childish behaviour. How can you ever deny that it’s problematic when predators can so easily hide under this label and something like the above happens?

I can’t police what consenting adults do in their bedrooms, nor do I even want to live in a state which thinks they’re entitled to do that (beyond laws prohibiting the knowing transmission of STIs to others).  But it pisses me off how “no kinkshaming” is used to silence criticism of the kink itself. (I even came across a Reddit sub trying to ban everyone disgusted at the sheer amount of rape/incest/pedophilia fanart/fanfiction there and calling out fictional CP as illegal by US federal obscenity law and Reddit’s TOS.)  Not all kinks are equal and without a critical examination of each kink, a strict black-white polarisation towards kink will only intensify. Radfems are anti-kink (granted, they’re just anti-sex whenever it involves men, even if it means to deny female sexuality) and kink criticism is immediately shut down in sex-positive circles (or at least bad-faith actors claiming to be).

Granted, this may only be an online thing. I’m in contact with a BDSM Dom who completely agrees with me. Consenting adults have the right to engage in whatever kink they please, but kink should always remain up for criticism (e.g. exhibitionism, when it means exposing themselves to strangers who did not fucking consent to that. If you want it so badly, hook up with someone who consented to that, but the fact that a stranger did not consent to this has always priority over your desire to enact your fantasy). So I saw a proshipper/AO3 stan complaining about that she can’t write RPF (how would you feel if someone e.g. wrote fanfiction about you fucking your grandma? The owners probably don’t want to get their asses sued for libel. Many celebrities, including internet-based ones are extremely uncomfortable with that and asked people to stop writing or drawing porn of them.) and about “teenagers having sex” on Fanfiction.Online (amongst vague sour grapes grumbling about it “looking like a phishing scam”. 🙄 It literally has a One-Time PIN login option as an alternative to classic registration, a feature I wish more sites beyond Twitch used. This makes it potentially safer than classic password login sites.)

So, let’s look at the Guidelines: https://fanfiction.online/guidelines The rule just says “Sexual content involving characters under the age of 18 is not allowed.” But if you look further in their “Ratings” category, you also see that in contrast to “Mature: Stories may contain adult themes but not explicit descriptions of sexual or violent nature.” sexual or violent content must be tagged as “Explicit: May contain any content that falls within our content guidelines.” So, graphical descriptions about sex would fall into the “explicit” category anyway, meaning the only thing outlawed is literal CP. This is how I would interpret it (based on US obscenity law, where their server resides):

Probably okay:

A 16-year old confessing to her mother that she’s pregnant

A teenager pushing their highschool crush away for being grabby, which they don’t feel comfortable with

Teenagers awkwardly talking about their first kiss

Definitely not okay:

A sexually explicit description of minors having sex, which qualifies as CP

They could have worded it better, sure. But if you combine the Content Guidelines & Ratings implication, it’s becomes clear that it’s not about mention, but explicitely about CP.

When I look at typical appeasers like Blaire White and Caitlyn Jenner, all they seem to have achieved is the opposite. The right-wingers whose sympathy they try to gain so desperately do not care. They have their base to cater to, which still gets offended (”shoven down our throats”) over gay wedding cakes, gay/lesbian couples holding hands in public and being shown in media doing the exact same things straight people do. They couldn’t care less about the tiny minority of trans people who mostly won’t vote for them anyway, their main base just sees them as “another type of gay”. White, Jenner & such are only courted and paid to show “I’m not transphobic, I have a transgender, pardon, transsexual friend!”

Also regarding the vegan position; Where is the moral difference between killing an animal for meat and killing it to protect crops from being eaten? If you have no alternative to killing wildlife for vegan food (just as some people have no alternative to eating meat, whether for financial, health or environmental reasons), then you cannot claim the harm done is unintentional.

I’m not surprised that many ideological ex-vegans that had to give up for health reasons directly switch to the carnivore diet (Another FAD diet often propagated with a lot of pseudoscience, when just “this is the best diet for me personally” would be enough. They’re mentally still stuck in the mindset that they have to justify their eating patterns to the rest of the world) because eating large herbivores would technically cause the least deaths.

Re: “troublesome arthropods”: Many people find arthropods and other invertebrates cute and keep them as pets! I personally find snails much cuter than cows and I would probably feel less comfortable in eating escargot over steak. But I don’t deny that this is also a product of anthropomorphisation, it would likely stop if I started farming them. Still caring for their wellbeing, yes. But not mourning their death.

“Animal Liberation” "Anti-Speciecism” is an ideology based on false analogies with human rights and double standards towards humans, parasites, agricultural collateral deaths and invertebrates. All species on earth eat each other to survive and that’s not going to change until we can synthesise food completely from anorganic materials.

Cooperates with local authorities, so unfortunately unsuitable for people trying to write political or LGBT-positive content if you live in an extremely oppressive country like Russia. I would personally not use it, just out of protest for this practice that might literally cost someone’s life.)

You can host 18+ fanfiction on Reddit, as long it doesn’t involve CP. Their moderation is slow and somewhat lazy regarding characters that are  technically “ancient immortal demons” etc. but obviously physically meant to be children or not physically mature for their species (see “Harkness Test”). If you see such, please help reporting it! All of them have still better moderation than AO3, which accumulated at least 1.1 % CP fics  (82,993 in total) during 2021. 

PS: The fact that “proshippers” feel entitled to write fictional and even RPF CP, which requires a shit ton of moderation to remove is the main reason why sites that previously hosted smut stop doing so (along with fearing advertiser loss by platforming sexual content at all).

I'm a CSA survivor which causes me to age regress, and it's really upsetting that people think that someone being attracted to me makes them a pedophile or I'm not able to consent despite being an adult, especially since they're comparing me finding a way to reclaim my sexuality in a way that's comfortable for me to the actual abuse I experienced. I know people find it gross and weird, but it's still really hurtful to see those kinds of comments when I'm not hurting anyone.

I know there are probably DD's who are actual pedophiles too, but I don't think it's fair to judge an entire kink based off that. There are also people in the general kink community who are abusers and use kink as a way to hide, that doesn't mean that BDSM is evil, it just means that there are bad people.

Making an exception here given the nature of the ask and I don't want you to feel unsafe. I wholeheartedly believe there is nothing wrong with you age regressing or reclaiming control of your trauma in that way

Disclaimer: The right of consenting adults to do whatever they please in their bedrooms has always priority over personal sentiment. But that doesn't mean that kinks are immune to criticism, especially the sexualisation of non-consent will always be problematic or even dangerous in nature.

I'm not a mental health professional, just another survivor fed up with a lack of middle ground between "all Sub/Dom kink is inherently abusive" Vs "all kinks are free game as long no one is directly abused". My Ask remains open, as long I don't get abusive crap, messages from assholes on my DNI list or similar shit.
