Saw this and wanted to share here. Just like the scene itself, it's both achingly beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. But it's comforting to know there's a real, tangible piece of "Midge & Lenny" one can visit in New York.

The cooking show in ‘78 is a big hit, which doesn’t really surprise Midge, much. She’s always been a whiz in the kitchen, and she’s funny as hell on top of that, and so the combination of her quick humor and delicious food winds up being an irresistible one-two punch.

2 Maisel
It takes her a while to realize that Joel has been avoiding her since he caught her with Lenny's lips attached to her neck in the alley behind the Button Club the week before.
"Have I suddenly become scary?" she asks him teasingly as she leans over the bar at the Button Club to catch his eyes. "We haven't set up the kids' schedules for the next month. We need to before we're Schedule-less and that's not good for any of us."
"Fine," he says tersely.
Midge tilts her head in confusion. "Joel..."
He doesn't respond.
"Joel."
"You've changed," he blurts out. "You're different than you were."
She gazes at him for a long moment, this man that she loved so much; that she maybe, in the back of her head thought she would love forever, even after he left.
"We're supposed to change," she says softly. "Haven't you changed, too?"
"Not like you have," he tells her, not meeting her eyes. "Not like you."
She goes quiet again, watching him carefully. "Maybe I was always this person," she tells him. "Maybe you just saw what you wanted to see, and ignored the rest."
He finally looks at her.
"You can't handle that I'm with someone else," she says softly.
"Him," Joel corrects her. "I can't fucking handle that you're with him. That you..."
Midge doesn't respond.
"He told you he loved you," Joel says. "I heard him."
She nods slowly.
"And you said it back."
"I did," she confirms quietly. "Because it's true."
She gets no response.
"Somewhere along the way, I became too much for you," Midge shrugs. "I became overwhelming, and you didn't want that anymore. I...I have found someone who does."
Joel looks away. "We'll work out the kids' schedules tomorrow."
"Okay," Midge agrees softly, getting to her feet. "Okay."
She walks out without looking back.

The blind date we'd love to see in Canon. But I'm happy it exists here. Another JackalJackpot!
If you’re still taking fluffy prompts…continuation of their accidental blind date? 🤗
Pairing: Lenny Bruce & Midge Maisel Rated T Warnings: Mild Sexual Content
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
His lips are on hers the moment they enter his apartment, her body pressed between his and the wall.
“I’m so glad this isn’t a first date,” she pants as she shoves his jacket from his shoulders.
“You don’t do this kind of thing on a first date?” He asks. His mouth finds the crook of her neck, and she moans softly as he sucks at her skin.
“I’m a lady,” she reminds him as her fingers twist into his hair, pulling him back to kiss her again. He reaches around her, working the zipper of her dress. “If I’d known it was you tonight, I would’ve worn a prettier corset,” she says, tugging at his tie.
“Me too,” he replies, making her laugh quietly as her dress hits the floor.

A lovely moment between these two. Who wouldn't want this support and love in their corner?
"How would you feel about going away for a few days? Just you and me, leaving all the problems behind us for a moment."
Pairing: Lenny Bruce & Midge Maisel Rated T
"Lenny," Midge says, leaning in the doorway of her husband's office.
"Almost done."
"Lenny."
She watches him typing away at two in the morning, his shoulders tense in a way she hasn't seen in months. "I'm on a deadline, Midge. I've gotta get this finished by Friday."
"It's Tuesday," she reminds him. "You have two full days to finish, and you're running yourself ragged."
He sighs, his typing slowing but not stopping. "Just let me finish this thought," he breathes, relenting the slightest bit.
She nods slowly in acceptance and moves toward him, her feet cold on the hardwood floors of their apartment, and she's grateful for the warmth of the rug under her feet when she steps into the room. She stands behind him, slowly resting her hands on his shoulders in an attempt not to startle him.
Lenny's typing slows further and eventually stops. He takes a deep breath and sighs, letting his head fall back against her chest. She starts working her fingers firmly into his shoulders, trying to massage away some of the tension.
Midge presses a kiss to the top of his head. "You've been awfully tense the last couple of weeks," she murmurs into his hair.
"You would be too if the potential of ending up in a workhouse was looming over your head."
She sighs, lifting her head. "Yeah," she agrees, digging her thumb into a particularly nasty knot in his shoulder. He hisses and then groans as it loosens under her ministrations. "How would you feel about going away for a few days?" She asks. "Turn in the article on Friday, and then we go upstate somewhere. Just you and me. Leave all our problems behind for a little while."
He sighs. "You've got the show," he reminds her.
"Gordon will understand. They'll get someone to fill in for a show or two." She stops massaging and slides her hands down his chest.
Lenny tugs her hands, guiding her around to sit in his lap, where he wraps his arms around her waist and rests his forehead against her shoulder. "What if the appeal fails?" He asks after a moment.
"Then we'll have conjugal visits," she quips in an attempt to lighten the mood.
"I'm being serious, Midge," he says, lifting his head to look up at her. "I could..."
She cups his cheek in her hand, stroking her thumb over the stubble there as she looks at him, understanding what he's reluctant to voice. "It's not going to happen," she assures him, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead. "We're going to take a break. I know I could certainly use it. And then when we get back, you'll be refreshed and ready to take on the appeal."
He nods slowly and tilts his head up to kiss her, his arms pulling her close. It's a slow kiss, but there's a gentle desperation in it that nearly breaks her heart.
When he pulls away, he buries his face in her neck, holding her tightly as she combs her fingers through his messy curls. "I love you, Lenny," she promises, pressing a kiss to his hair. "We're going to fight this."
She feels him nod against her. "I love you too."
"I had a feeling," she teases, smiling to herself. "Now come to bed. I miss you."

My kind of season 5 story line!
Tumblr media
little lenny and midge photo prompt because I crave them being soft to one another (and maybe a little smut too if you’re feeling it 👀)
Pairing: Lenny Bruce & Midge Maisel Rated T
Part 1 | Part 2
Midge wakes to the feeling of his fingertips trailing down her spine.
She smiles contentedly as her eyes flutter open and she sees him gazing at her, his eyes full of adoration. "Hi," she whispers, snuggling closer so she can kiss him tenderly.
A lazy grin finds his lips as she pulls back. "Hello," he breathes. His fingertips make their way back up toward her shoulders, and she shivers. "How are you feeling?"
She considers for a moment. "A little jet lagged. A little worried about my performance post-frostbite."
The chuckle rumbles in his chest. "I can confirm that even after frost crotch and nearly losing a couple of toes, you are still sensational," he murmurs, dipping his head to kiss her shoulder.
"And...I'm really happy," she adds a moment later.
He pulls her closer, and she shifts onto her side so her chest is pressed to his. "So...I know we don't do this..."
"What? Have sex? Our track record suggests otherwise."
He smirks. "No, I mean...I'm bringing my kid home today."
"Oh," she breathes. She was so wrapped up in this, in her feelings for him, that she'd forgotten part of the reason he's here is to spend time with his daughter. "Right. I should..."
"I'd like you to meet her," he says before she even has the chance to try wriggling out of his embrace.
Midge blinks slowly, wondering if she's imagining things. "You want me to meet your daughter?" He nods, and she asks, "What about your ex? Don't you need to talk to her about this?"
Lenny sighs. "She's not really...involved," he explains. "Kitty - my daughter - she's been living with my mother. Honey's not gonna care if Kitty meets someone who's...very important to me."
She looks at him for a long moment. "I don't want to impose on your time with her," she says.
"You're not imposing," he promises. "If we really are doing this - "
"We are," she promises. "I wouldn't have followed you out here if I didn't want this."
"Good," he replies. "Because I'm afraid, Mrs. Maisel, that I am powerless to resist you any longer."
She laughs quietly. "It's because I talk to my shoes, right?"
"Well, it is wildly attractive," he answers, and she laughs again. His grin fades into a more serious expression. "Midge?" He breathes.
"Yes?"
Lenny takes a deep breath, clearly steeling himself, and then he says the words she's been wanting to hear ever since the moment he kissed her for the first time: "I love you."
Her grin widens, and a happy little sob passes her lips. "I love you, too," she says before kissing him deeply.

So well said!
Love, but not timing
Tumblr media
Midge knows she's in love at the airport, and the realization is devastating.
I've been trying to track how Midge feels about Lenny for years. He's someone she aspires to be like. He's someone she can count on in a tight sport. He's the person guaranteed to make her laugh. And at the some time she craves a kind of intimacy from him. Midge wants his attention and loves that he flirts with her. And of course she's attracted him; she's got eyes. But Midge doesn't necessarily associate those things with love. Love is something women like Midge give to nice boys with day jobs who own property. For the first four seasons Midge is still an outsider in this other world of clubs and gigs, trying to learn its rules and its codes. Lenny is both an aspirational figure and a friend to Midge. But even when they sleep together I don't think she immediately sees it at love, but the natural escalation of a growing attraction. Oh its surprisingly lovely and wonderful. But before Midge can really parse that, Carnegie Hall happens.
At Carnegie Hall Midge loses face not just in the eyes of a lover but a mentor. He shatters her pride and lets her know she's been the one thing a Maisel never should be: stupid. That's a lot to process, particularly when you spend a few days in danger of losing a toe. But the conversation haunts her in a way that is familiar and awful. So Midge ignores it. And she certainly doesn't try to call. Midge wants the time to build herself back up again before she sees Lenny. She wants to come in from a position of strength. But there he is at the airport.
After she spots him, for a second Midge looks ready to bolt. But she can't, because for as much as she is hurting, the idea of ever walking away from Lenny is impossible. So she walks up using all of her willpower. And still, Midge looks like she might unravel when Lenny smiles, and even more when he tells her he's making a semi-permanent move to LA.
"Lucky girl," she says, when Lenny confesses his kid is moving in. Midge knows she's in love when she delivers that line, and also knows she can't possibly ask him not to go.
For his part, Lenny fell in love ages ago in a club in Florida.
To Lenny, Midge was a cute very funny girl who reminded him of the kind of girls he'd grown up with and the kind of girls who never paid him any attention. He revels in her gaze, in her wit, and in the way she thinks he's worth talking to. It's fun not to be the screw-up sometimes. Then Midge looks out for him, supports him, and lets him a little bit into her world, and Lenny has to admit Midge isn't just a girl anymore, but a friend. Everything Lenny learns about Midge is more impressive, more alluring.
In Florida he takes her out to his tv show and then to the club hoping to impress her in turn. He flirts with her because Lenny flirts with pretty girls. But you can see the world tilt under him as they stare at each other across the room. When they dance his ability to speak fails him. And when her head nestles into his shoulder Lenny knows he's absolutely gone.
If Lenny weren't in love with Midge he wouldn't have a problem waking up from a shitty night in her child's bedroom. Lenny isn't that fussy. But it's Midge, and he can't handle what he must look like, especially with this newfound glimpse into her home life. With Carnegie Hall Lenny can reclaim some dignity, let her put him back on his pedestal a little bit. He needs her to be impressed by him. Until, of course, he realizes the damage that little pedestal has actually done. Lenny doesn't call Midge. He's not good for her after all.
But at the airport I think he realizes she loves him back. It's just not enough to change anything. He can't offer her anything right now other than to push her towards her dream.
And maybe in a different world they'd meet again a few years down the line, and they'd fall back into the same dance, as if no time had passed at all.

Can we have a continuation of the continuation from the the prompt (argument with the maisels)? After the talk with Abe, Lenny finding Midge sleeping in her bed with the kids all together.
Let me see if I can wrangle all the parts to this:
The Fight
Abe and Lenny
Lenny and Midge in the Kids' Room

I have two Midge/Lenny prompts for you, if you please…
1.- Pillow-Talk in the Blue Room
2.- First date after Carnegie Hall
Thank you!
Let's go with #2.
It's a terrible date.
Just awful.
Sure they've patched things up after the Carnegie fight, but that doesn't mean that fate is at all working in their favor.
Not that Lenny believes much in fate, but still. It'd be nice if some imaginary whatever-the-fuck intervened on his behalf here.
But no.
The food is terrible at the spot he picks (it was fine last week) , and the band is shit (a better band played here last week), and Midge spots her ex and his chick over at another table, and it's just-
It's like Lenny has lost all his game. He has no game, and he doesn't have a clue what's happening, because this...
Hasn't happened in a long time.
Lenny is fully expecting Midge to get up and leave, and he'll never see her again and then he'll be all alone.
'Pull it together, you putz,' he thinks to himself.
At the end of it all, after Midge pushes most of her soggy salad aside, and the band plays three sour notes in a row, and they engage in some truly awkward small talk with Joel Maisel and whoever the hell his date is...
Midge smiles at him, like she knows exactly what he's thinking. "Let's get out of here."
He pays the bill, and takes her hand and they just walk.
They stumble on really good pizza, and then find ice cream, and they make fun of the band, and ruminate on whether either of them will get food poisoning. They trade terribly embarrassing stories about farting during sex. They snort and snicker about Joel's face when he spotted them, and imagine what it would be like to get both of their exes in a room together.
And suddenly all those fears that their one night, running from the cops in a snow may have been a fluke disappear.
And this feels like it's really something. Like it's really real.

Same here!
Sometimes I watch my favourite show Marvelous Mrs Maisel and a little thought pops up in my head - wouldn’t it be wonderful to live in the 60s? I quickly shut it down - racism, sexism, lack of contraception and antidepressants and so on… The truth is that I don’t want to live in the 60s at all, all I want is Midge’s apartment, wardrobe and to have sex with Luke Kirby.
