Oneshot update

Hi all, I have a little update concerning my oneshot collection that I want to release (I've made a couple of posts about it already.)

The semi-official title for the one-shot collection will be titled "Tales of the Valley"

I don't have a release date yet, but when it does get released, it will be on both A03 and Fanfiction.net, and I will post the links here on my blog.

Attention KFP fans

We are getting an official trailer drop on December 13th, 2023!

I saw ur kfp2 post about father and son writing ideas, so lemme throw my hat into the ring! Since Po is the only panda in the VoP, maybe u could make a oneshot about Ping comforting his son when he feels too much like an outcast?

I think that this is a great idea for a one-shot exploring the relationships between Po and Mr. Ping. It was hinted at during the first movie, and addressed somewhat in the second and third films.

I may already have a prompt for it in my one-shot prompt pool, and if its not there, than it will be added in.

This would likely be a post-kfp2 type thing as prior to that, Po had no memory (or rather, they were suppressed) of his past prior to being adopted by Ping (Because he was so little.) But I might be able to work with something pre-KFP 1 as well. I'll just have to do some thinking about it.

I think I have seen this done before but I'm happy to put my own spin to it. I'll just need to draft it out.

I just rewatched Kung Fu Panda 2

The ending scene where Po and Mr. Ping reuniting at the end never fails to not make me cry.

With that being said, does anyone have any ideas for any Po and Mr. Ping father/son ideas that can work as a oneshot or something? I just don't see enough of these in the fandom.

(I may also do Po, Ping, and Li later on down the line.)

So, this thing did end up being added to one of my oneshots, and its described like briefly in a paragraph.

I don't imagine Tigress or Mantis to have or know an instrument. Viper mostly sticks to dancing because I could not really find a Chinese Instrument that was suitable for her to play. I do have it to where show knows others who know instruments because they would often times play them to accompany her dance performances before she entered the Jade Palace. For Tigress, I do mention though that the only one she knows that really plays an instrument is Master Shifu, who occasionally plays the Dizi (he played a flute similar to one in the first movie)

For Crane: He would mostly play a bow-and-stringed instrument, such as the Erhu or the Sanxian (Similar to the Erhu in shape, and the way its played.)

For Monkey: Monkey can play a few types of instruments, and I mention that he has experimented around with different kinds of instruments before selecting ones like the Ruan (think of a guitar). He mostly played it to entertain the youngest (kids and such) of the village he lived in (the one in SOTFF.)

Sadly, the oneshot is not finished yet, so I can't say when it will be posted, because there's quite a lot of things that I want to add it.

I'm kind of curious as to what kinds of Chinese Musical Instruments do you see any KFP characters playing, more specifically, the Furious Five?

We already have a character (more specifically, Master Shifu) that already canonically is shown to play the flute, which really reminds of the Dizi (Chinese Bamboo Transversal Flute) with the way he was playing it.

Well sort of.

So out of the Jade Palace family, we can perhaps conclude that Po is the ones who know the most recipes. ( I don't just imagine noodles though.)

But what if we expand that a bit?

What if the majority of the Furious Five know at least one or two recipes? Let's just say that the majority of the Five are from different proviences in China, to make things a little more interesting.

I personally headcannon that before Po came around, the one who likely know the most recipes would be Viper, since in the holiday special, she recalls cooking with her sisters.

I think a certain someone would be delighted to learn of these new recipies.

Aah, I did not see your reblog until now. Yes, I agree that Monkey could play other kinds of instruments, but why do I imagine him bring able to play a few as a way to cheer up some kids (cubs and whatnot)? Considering how good he's with kids.

Ooh, I did not think about the drums thing. As a teen, I suppose I could see the whole "messing around with instruments" type thing to be a bit of a curiosity type thing. I see the smaller hand drums (yes, I've seen them as Chinese instruments I think) would be more suitable.

I'd imagine that Viper would have a really sweet singing voice. Po singing is actually a pretty popular headcannon. I think people got inspired by it because Jack Black is also a singer and has his own band. Po sadly won't be in the one-shot that I'm planning on incorporating this into. But I may incorporate it in a later one shot type thing.

Additionally, there is a Chinese instrument similar to the Erhu called the Sanxian.

So I'm thinking of implementing this I my one-shot collection, so the idea is to use Chinese instruments. So that means I can't use the Chello or Piano (I can use the harp though), as for flute and drums, there are various flutes and drums used back in the day and still now. The two above instruments would only work if I was writing a modern day AU as western instruments are used in the present day.

Exactly, Crane is the artistic type.

Interesting thing about the flute, not sure how that's going to work (but that would suit her). Monkey playing the drums is pretty neat, Crane would do very well like a stringed instrument with a bow. I agree regarding Tigress, I don't really imagine her playing an instrument, considering that she's been in the Palace basically her whole life after getting out if the orphanage.

I'm writing a one-shot (for the collection I mentioned some time back) and I'm wondering about what activities do you see the five doing together as a team?

Let me give some context: the one shot takes place about a week or two (don't have an exact timeline) after SOTS (Secerts of the scroll). The newly appointed "four" new warriors, now dubbed "The Furious Five" were invited to stay at the Jade Palace to train in Kung Fu. The five were given some time off from training (well, time off for Tigress) and for the rest it's delayed start of official training so that the new residents would have a bit of time to aclimate themselves to the routine of the Jade Palace, and so that the new warriors can start to bond with one another, and it's a reward for thier defeat of the enemy. They decide to do some stuff together (out of the blue mind you), and I already wrote them exploring the Valley and flying a few kites together. Also of note, because this takes place about a decade before the first KFP movie, Po won't be in this one.

For the activities, let's try to keep them as close to Chinese culture as we can as I wish to add a little bit of authenticity to my one-shot collections.

Additionally, who do you personally see playing an instrument in KFP? Furious Five member of course. I personally headcannon that either Crane or Monkey would have some knowledge of instrument playing (with Viper already being an expert dancer.)

Least to say, I'm excited, as well as cautiously optimistic.
