When People Think Canada Is Great
For those that don't know the Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms has a clause anyone can invoke making it so that the law they specify can go against the charter and not be challenged. It doesn't matter what rights are being violated and while it does expire after a while, the government can once again re-invoke it. No court in the land, even our supreme court can overturn it. Quebec loves, loves, loves this clause cause it's what allows them to discriminate against language with it's laws. The only trigger it has is that the people in power have to say they are giving themselves permission to take away our rights. It does not matter how heinous the right violation is though it can only violate sections 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15. Wanna see some of those?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Sure there is a drawback where Canadian media will say; "Wow didn't it suck they invoked the NotWithstanding clause?" But that is the full extent of the negativity they will receive and potentially twice as much as the average Canadian citizen can do. Ol' PP (Pierre Poilievre) of the Conservative party here will most likely be the next Prime Minister and no despite what people are screaming he won't be the next Trump no matter how much he loves seeing those MACA hats; he'll be the next Greg Abbot. The only difference being he'll have a rubber stamp and no one that can say no. This is a reminder to Canadians who think they can look down on Americans or anyone else just how truly free and great we are. P.S. This isn't me saying to vote for Trudeau. I'm not, I believe everyone should be able to vote for who they feel is the best. But if any of this scares (or excites) you then I will say this is a good reminder to go out and vote.

Please go watch Sex Explained on Netflix. Not only is it a great resource for the basic sex education that is sorely lacking in the U.S., but some of ya’ll need to take a deep breath and remember the difference between fantasy vs reality. This purity culture thing that we’re going through right now is directly harmful to responsible, healthy sexual expression. BTW this woman, Lisa Diamond, is a noted psychologist and has been pushing for greater understanding of womens sexuality as a whole.

When I encounter a piece of Backrooms or SCP lore or works I enjoy I have to deal with an ever increasing number of people randomly warning me that it isn't "the real" content. Please just leave me alone. I read DC comics I'm quite used to experiencing and enjoying alternate canons.

Help Fellow DBD Players I've Made A Terrible Realization...
I'm a huge Scooby-Doo fan and I've been thinking about what killer or killers I want to play because I'm weird and want to play things I will enjoy beyond just their ability to win or mechanics. I've been loving Naughty Bear but I had a very sudden and weird realization; as a Scooby-Doo fan I should be maining the Knight.
Tumblr media
How could the Knight possibly be related to Scooby-Doo. Well the very first episode of Scooby-Doo was 'What A Night For A Knight!'. I even have a Scooby-Doo themed build in my head I could on him, though it has no regression so I will get blown out all the time but who cares? The only thing less important that 4King as a killer is escaping as a survivor as long as you have fun during the match. But the Knight is the Knight which is a huge downside but I am still so tempted. Help talk me out of doing something stupid!

I know I was supposed to just tag but I had to share. Zikali doesn't just do music for video games, they also do music for documentaries and I have to say they are incredible. I know the video is a little random but the only way to share this song with you since not everyone has Spotify is Youtube and my two options were to give this random gamer a couple of extra views of the official Ubisoft account. The choice was obvious. I won't lie I miss listening to the radio while we drive but there is so much Taylor and she only has two songs. "I'm a terrible person which is why the person I broke up with sucks." and "My fans are too stupid to know I spend the whole song backhandedly mocking them." which would be fine if she didn't release fifteen same sounding versions of those two songs every two weeks. I will give Taylor credit for one thing. I don't know anyone else who could take everyone of their old songs, have random drummer machine sample tracks loop over them in a way where they drown out the flow and nature of the song turning them into something that sounds akin to being stuck between two radio stations and get them constantly played on the radio anyhow. Anyhow Zikali is fantastic give them a listen!
enough about taylor swift already. reblog and tag the smallest, least known artist you listen to

You're Not Doin' Fine, Oklahoma!
Tumblr media
In case you haven't heard last December AEW filmed one of their shows in Oklahoma. On this show AEW star Nyla Rose had a squash match honestly the same type of squash match she's had dozens of times now. And before I go any further into what happened as a result I just want to point out that Nyla Rose has an online merch store with plenty of awesome designs. I personally love the cereal box design myself! https://www.prowrestlingtees.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=+Nyla+rose
Tumblr media
It turns out that the Oklahoma Athletic Commission has a snitch line in case YOU catch a transgender individual living their life within the confines of the state. What did this result in? Well it resulted in AEW being issued a warning at the January board meeting that if they let it happen again there would be 'punitive damages'. Here's a quick little video snippet from a wrestling news site in the UK talking about it. (Spoilers they do reveal that professional wrestling isn't actually real.) https://youtu.be/kPsyIQpRXyI?si=t1F-MWa0ziai3W-m&t=448 Also for all you TERFs, and transphobes going on about how it's enough of a sport. You need to research all the times where it's legally been deemed a performance and not a competition. I'll start you off with the easiest most well known one; New Jersey State Senate 1989. That was the case that proved globally that wrestling was rigged, fake, etc. I know that many of you are allergic to facts but if there are some that do want to know you can start your search. Anyhow, though I shouldn't be I am surprised that a governmental agency believes professional wrestling is.

WARNING TO SAMSUNG GALAXY USERS!
Yesterday my phone updated and today I got a notification that something needed my attention. Turns out Samsung as put AI into the gallery that scrolls through your pictures and makes quirky little AI generated reels of images with quirky music, a quirky title, and emojis! he thing that 'needed my attention' was an AI generated cutesy 19 second long video of the days leading up to my husky dying right before Christmas. How random! How fun! And it forced the video to play before I could gain access to the section to turn this shit off. The amount of FUCK YOU SAMSUNG I feel right now I think may be undefinable. If you want to turn this shit off, go to your Gallery, stories and then the three dots, then 'Hide content'. That's right you CAN'T TURN IT OFF or stop it, just hide the knowledge it's doing it from yourself.

Is it currently bad to like things?
Tumblr media
Is the idea of 'the guilty pleasure' dead yet? I was just listening to some Descendants music and being excited about the new Rise of Red trailer they just dropped. I was reminded when I got excited for the trailer for Descendants 3 and someone asked me 'Oh so Descendants is your guilty pleasure? Your an adult." No. There is no guilt. The funniest thing is that there are songs they heard because of me from Descendants that have ended up in their Spotify lists. I noticed there's this weird Puritan stain streaking across social media looking to attack people over the smallest bit of joy. Are they the majority? Are pleasures guilty, extra guilty or simply pleasures at this point?

A Retro Gaming Perspective
Online social media tends to show three types of retro game collectors.
One being crypto bros who use the buying and selling of retro games and many other collectables as a money laundering scheme.
Then there are those that collect every game ever made usually through bargain hunting. These people tend to have huge man caves dedicated to showing off their collection of games and endless consoles.
The third is the person who started collecting a particular system to get the games they played but end up going after every game for that system.
Now, there is nothing wrong with the second and third options, collect what you want. I'm more just pointing out the believed standards social media has trained people on.
I also want to show that there are other reasons people collect retro games. For example I collect retro games to collect memories.
Tumblr media
And when I am feeling bad or having medical issues there are times where I will be drawn to one of games on my shelf, pull it off, hold it, stare at it, and remember the memories attached to it. Usually this is done to try to make myself feel better though not always.
Tumblr media
When it comes to the original Nintendo Entertainment System what games must be complete in box and of acceptable condition versus just being a cartridge of acceptable condition comes down to whether it's associated with good or bad thoughts.
I won't go into detail but this Bart Vs The Space Mutants was at the heart of a series of events involving blood, child protective services, and me being a dumb kid being convinced to lie to CPS.
There are a lot of dark thoughts connected to this cartridge but there are also lessons, and reminders of strength as well.
The truly heartbreaking pieces in my collection though are pieces that represent happy times, and memories with a specific person but the other person has no recollection.
Tumblr media
Ka-Blooey here comes with a whole host of memories of a person who doesn't remember it at all. This game was a central point in our lives for years and...all those memories are lost apparently.
For some reason that makes Ka-Blooey more important to me though it also hurts more often than not when I look at it. A history half forgotten.
I will end up with quite the eclectic collection by the time I am done. A dozen or so games from one system, four from another. Not the type of collector or collection you will see on Instagram or TikTok but it is a collection that makes me happy.
Given that I wanted to share with you another way in which people collect retro games I think I've done what I wanted to. Thanks for reading and if you are on any sort of collection grind, happy hunting!
