I had a really good revelation with my therapist today. I told her basically this rabbit hole thought process about my health and then that lead into another one losing my job and my livelihood in general.
She stopped me in my tracks saying “It sounds like you’re really scaring yourself!”
I paused and thought… wow. That sums it up. So many thoughts are just summed up as scaring myself. I used to categorize my internal dialogue as “oh that’s the adhd/ocd/ptsd/anxiety/or depression talking, and I need to figure out how to undo it or prevent this disaster” But no. I was just scaring myself. That is all it is. And just stopping and saying “Hey me, that’s a scary thought. How about we just acknowledge it, and we can know that it isn’t going to help dwelling on the scary stuff. This present moment isn’t scary, and the scary end-of-the-world stuff isn’t happening right now.”
So, do yourself a favor, and be gentle with yourself when you have scary thoughts. It’s okay. 💕

Your best is what you can do without harming your mental and physical health, not what you can accomplish when you disregard it.

having to come to terms with the fact that love is not an everlasting performance in which you attempt to retain the attention of your significant other but rather a release of control and putting faith into them and trusting them to choose to stay with you no matter what you have to offer

When your head hits the pillow tonight, remind yourself that you’ve done a good job. You are headed down your path at your own pace, and with every obstacle you are trying your utmost best. Be patient with yourself, and remember that big things are achieved not all at once, but one day at a time.

things that made me stop wanting to die that require no effort whatsoever
change the color used to highlight text on your laptop
move the pictures on your wall
stack whatever clutter is in your room into piles even if you don’t have time to clean it all
slightly vary your commute, even just by one street
change where you sit and scroll aimlessly on your phone even if it’s only to the chair in your room instead of your bed
drink water or juice out of a wine glass in the morning because nothing is real
shower with the lights off, without music
buy $3 flowers at trader joe’s—they look bad next to the more expensive ones but they look so good in your room
start typing things you don’t post into your notes. your thoughts can be worth documenting even if you don’t deem them worth sharing
wake up super early just once. you don’t have to make it a habit it’s just extra satisfying to go to bed that night
listen to the entirety of your favorite album from 2015
