Anyone who knows me, knows I love a good cheese. Growing up in New Zealand, dairy was a staple in our household. Cheese, milk, cream, ice cream. And lots of it! One of my earliest childhood memories was helping mum put bottles out for the milkman. Today I decided to put down the TV remote and pick up the camera. While being mindful of lockdown measures, we ventured out to shop locally and found some wonderful produce and libations. I was reminded of how much beauty there is in simple, everyday things we often take for granted. It takes a hell of a lot of energy and passion to bring beauty into the world and these commodities are no exception. I felt it important to offer my humble gratitude and appreciation for to the farmers, growers, and merchants that keep us nourished and nurtured. Thank you. Historically, I have utilized this platform as a means to share my work and travels almost exclusively. Being in front of the camera or sharing photos of myself has never been something I’ve been very fond of. But in these trying times, I’ve found myself thinking a lot about community, the importance of staying connected, and the potential of this space as a tool to do just that. During these times of self isolation and #stayingathome I am reflecting on all of the amazing artists that I have had the privilege to work with over the many years. Going through my library of images, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to be able to collaborate with the some of the worlds best photographers, art directors, assistants, and production crews many of whom have become very dear friends over the years. Having this time to self reflect, I realize that it takes all facets of the creative process to bring an image to life and the people that support you through this. I look forward to the near future, when we can all gather again. With renewed passion and an instinctive drive to make the world an even more beautiful place to be.
