Grand Canyon West.  It is less visited than the other ones, but in my opinion a little more authentic (no barriers, etc).  It is also on a native reservation, which I’ve never visited in the United States before.  The surrounding towns reminded me of the UFO abduction Sci Fi movies from the 50′s.

Driving through Arizona, one is compelled to stop at the side of the road just to take in the vastness of the terrain.  Compared to Ontario, this is like going to another planet.

In the entrance of Mandalay Bay.  Las Vegas, Nevada
No photographic tricks here - it rained hard during our first day, which is considered a very rare occurrence.  Of course the drainage along the strip is not equipped to handle such sudden and heavy rain so everything became puddle-esque and refelctive.

Entrance to Mandalay Bay casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Indeed that is an umbrella and rain you are seeing.  This is a rare occurrence in Vegas (4.17 inches/year on average) but my first day there was a total downpour.  I thought I was cursed ... until everything started reflecting.

Chantry Island, as seen from Southampton’s coast line.  It was terribly cold that afternoon, but well worth the shot.

The bench looked beautiful, to be sure.  Alas I was not going to sit (Port Elgin, Canada)
