I am a big fan of Rembrandt Van Rijn and had studied some original works of his held in the National Galleries of Scotland collection. This portrait is in part a reflection on Rembrandt's painting technique: ‘Chiaroscuro' This portrait was composed over time using a large format camera and printed by hand. May,2016.

'Untitled' (Portobello Sunset) 4th February,2015.

This is the second image I took with a 5x4 large-format Camera Obscura (pin-hole camera) It was a particularly magic evening and the sea and the sky seemed to merge in inky colours. I liked the inclusion of the man and his dog who took time to stand and stare out to sea.

I used expired Kodak film to take this image. Thanks to George for assisting.

Theo very kindly sat in my studio for me recently. He is a very talented award-winning sculpture student and I find his work to be exceptionally fascinating and visually challenging. Copyrighted Image, April, 2014. Thanks to Zoltan Cserfalvi for assisting.

Scotland shares many traditions with the rest of the UK and Ireland and tea drinking is one.

The model appears to dissolve into the darkness which surrounds him and yet his face and hands convey confidence, control and resolve.

I would like to thank curators at the Scottish National Galleries for allowing me access to Rembrandt's curatorial file and portraits.

I found myself randomly sitting next to this boy who got on the train at Berlin Hauptbahnhof station. This portrait was taken with a Holga camera which had loud colors and invited giggles from passers by. The camera leaks light and the results are always unpredictable. Copyrighted Image. 2014.

Light Over West Sands, Fife, Scotland. Digital C Type Print Size: 841 x 1189 mm.

Following in the footsteps of centuries of Scottish landscape artists I have been exploring Fife with a large format camera before Scotland becomes independent again. The landscape changes so dramatically even within a minute and so as an artist I have had to step back and connect in a spiritual way with the land and the sky waiting for everything to come together in my minds eye.

As I stood on the beach I watched the RAF warplanes from the nearby airbase conducting war games in the sky. They they all landed for lunch and the clouds began to drift inland as if gestured by the sun. The sun then picked out the detail including the bunting I placed in the landscape which was made for my friend Amelia’s 19th birthday by her Devonshire Mum, Jane. Copyrighted Image.
