Some pictures of the London North Eastern Railway (LNER) "Together" pride livery Azuma train featuring the 7-stripe original version of the flag!
It's permanent and features eight flags in total (Intersex-inclusive Progress Pride Rainbow, Bi, Trans, Lesbian, Pan, Nonbinary, and Ace). I've included a link to it's page in the post source for anyone interested.
Credit for the photographs goes to Wikimedia user TheFrog001.

The /global page has been updated again, this time with a link I erroneously thought I included before due to retweeting a post about it on Twitter and an entirely new submitted one.

hello, a reddit user is claiming that he made the flag and you didn't, is he telling the truth?
Tumblr media
asking because idk who to credit the flag to since he seems sincere :/
No? I haven't had a reddit account in years, and unless this is the account of Mod Hermy from ask-pride-color-schemes (who spoke on the original flag here), this is someone Lying On The Internet Again
EDIT: This seems to be someone who made a similar flag and claims they made theirs with "the exact same meanings as [this one]" to claim I "plagiarized"
You can see the original post they made in this reblog chain from June 10th 2021, and the edited version with the meanings of this flag copy pasted onto their post from September 9th, 2021. I also can't find any other reblogs with those meanings or even mentions of them prior to the Sept. 9th, 2021 one above. (Wayback Machine links)
for clarity this is the flag they designed and this is the reddit thread from the ask
Tumblr media
Which this MLM flag looks much more similar too than mine does. Mod Hermy's flag was also made and posted earlier than this flag on August 24, 2016 (a point people mention to them on the reddit post they don't seem to have addressed, see the first link on this post) so that's still the original flag, however this person is claiming to have made "the first flag" and as I mentioned, wants "credit" for "plagiarism".
I find it very hard to believe they didn't reference Hermy's first design or that they were completely unaware of it (since it was pretty much the only flag design that popped up consistently pre-2019 for gay men.) I originally had a section here about convergent flag evolution trying to be charitable, but seeing as they're trying to actively claim they made the meanings that both I + my followers came up with together, I've decided to remove it.
This really is just someone Lying On The Internet and I'm not sure why. Getting "credit" and "recognition" for the flags I host here has honestly just gotten me a lot of harassment and has left a negative impact on my mental health at certain points.
Again if anyone would like a more comprehensive history of both the original design and the flags I've hosted here (with dates/screenshots/links and all that good stuff), you can head on over to @archivalflags or you can browse through the /archive here (as well as the posts on my Twitter/X account, if that site is still functional)

can we please stop discoursing about things that are fully explained on the /FAQ page ("I heard he was racist/supported this/was this random twitter user") in the comments, I don't want to turn them off but I've very close to doing so
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gay Man Flag
Russian /  Росси́я, Portuguese /  Português, Spanish /  Español, Polish /  Polski, French /  Français
Many people are unhappy with the current popular proposed flag because of a variety of reasons (no meaning behind the stripes, seemed to be “lipstick lesbian but blue for boys instead of pink for girls”, etc.) so I decided to make a similar proposal to address some of these issues.
[ THESE FLAGS AND STRIPE/COLOR MEANINGS ARE “APPROVED” BY THE CREATOR OF THE ORIGINAL FLAG, meaning they don’t mind that I’ve made this proposal to address the issues with theirs. We’re two separate people working on our own blogs, if you have a problem with them/their flag, I can’t help you. ]
1. First is that I’ve added meanings to each stripe and to each overall color on the flag.
Tumblr media
(Note: You might have seen a different version of the flag with the stripe meanings floating around that has “GNC & Trans Men” on the white stripe and non-green text on the bottom. This is the old version, I’ve changed the wording because people don’t know how to not be cruel to others & because black on darker purple is hard on some people’s eyes. That’s the only other version.)
Stripe meanings were inspired by my personal research of LGBT+ history, my (and others) experiences as gay men, and the meanings on Gilbert Baker’s original rainbow flag which I love dearly and hold close to my heart, this flag is not meant to replace or erase it in any way! I would love for them to be used in tandem like I personally do.
The green (Community) and teal (Joy) in the flag represent Nature. I thought this was important because love between men is often seen as “unnatural” in the eyes of society and in religion. Furthermore, gay men have historically used green flowers and plants (Carnations, hyacinths, etc.) to symbolize our love, reinforcing our connection with Nature.
The white stripe is adopted from the Trans Pride flag because trans, nb, and GNC men are often erased or talked over and need explicit representation. We have a lot of unaddressed and blatant Transphobia, internalized Homophobia, and Toxic Masculinity directed towards GNC/non-cis men in our community that we need to address and resolve.
I am aware that a white middle stripe may make people think it’s too similar to other flags but at this point in time, where the battle for what should be basic human rights for trans people is ongoing, even in LGBT spaces, it’s more important than ever to remember the crucial roles our trans and GNC family have played in building our history and to honor them.
The purple (Fortitude) and indigo (Diversity) in the flag represent diversity in  presentation, relationships, & life experience. We’re so often stereotyped as all fitting into these neat little categories, especially by those who choose to fetishize us & by non-MLM, but in reality there are so so many different ways to be a man and so many ways to be a man who loves or  who is in a relationship with other men, and this needs to be emphasized.
Purple is a mix of blue and red, and seeing as common criticism of other gay man flag proposals is “oh blue for boy? bleh”, I decided to have a light blue stripe leading into a deep purple to symbolize how some of us might be stereotypical, some of us might not be, and some of us are in-between or fluid. Regardless, we should all be celebrated and respected.
This flag is inclusive of all gay men. This includes Aro, Questioning/Unsure, NB, Ace, & Gay men that are Gender Non Conforming, be you Masc, Fem,  or Androgynous in any way! Same goes for gay men of any religious background.
Tumblr media
2. There are also many other versions/variants of the flag for those who would like them, please note that all of them still have the same meanings & symbolism as the original. Some of them are shown above.
You can view all of them & get separate images by clicking the link above and at the bottom of the post, please check that before proposing a different version to see if it already exists.
3. All of my flags are free to use for commercial and personal use, just please at least try to credit or link back/source to this post so it’s meanings don’t get lost.
(Just for the record, I am a trans gay disabled guy and I consult my GNC/NB/non-MLM [specifically Lesbian/WLW because of the similarities] followers on here and on Twitter frequently. If you think any language here is incorrect, please feel free to inform me, but I will consult others and hold polls before making major changes)
4. I am, and have always been, open to discussion on the flag but please read this entire post & at least search a little to see if I’ve already talked about that issue with someone else. If you’re intentionally rude, homo/transphobic, or you just don’t like the flag, I encourage you to find another flag proposal. Please don’t be like some of the people in the notes.
I am continually making new, improved versions of this flag! You can get similar updates and also interact with me on my Twitter @GayFlagTwit

This is an old post but with me updating the /FAQ page now, I would still like to request some suggestions on accessibility options for both the flags and the blog/blog theme from those who might be affected or who have experience with accessible design. Thank you!
“hey there! i was checking out this blog and your google survey, and I realized while looking for stuff you might wanna cover in your FAQ that like. with some types of colorblindness, the 5-stripe version of the gay man flag looks nearly identical to the aromantic flag and it might be hard to tell apart for those people. i’m not saying you gotta *do* anything necessarily, just pointing out a potential bug? Hope this finds you well! “
I would love to put a colorblindness section in the FAQ/general info page, however (like with every page I get stuck on) I’m unsure of how to format it so that it’s actually helpful/informative. I will be doing my own research but if anyone who experiences or has detailed knowledge of colorblindness would like to chime in so I don’t fall flat on my face, please feel free to respond to this post, send an ask, or hit my dms!

You may notice that some posts are "gone", I did not delete them. I've made some of the redundant/older update posts private as well as some of the more upsetting "discourse" related posts. This is both to streamline the blog and for my own mental health.
Having to look at certain posts in my notes was making me feel sick so for now, the important parts of them have been moved to the /FAQ page (also linked in my pinned). I encourage people to link to the /FAQ page as a source, but if you'd like a link or screenshot of one of the now-private posts you can shoot me an ask.
I've also updated some of the blog pages and removed others that haven't been updated for over a year. Some pages that weren't removed will have a notice at the top.
Moving forward I'd like to keep the "discourse" contained in the /FAQ page and have a heavier lean on places where these flags has been used, irl pictures of flags, and things like crafts made with the colors of the flags. I would still like to be made aware of serious (and I mean serious as in "people are accusing you of assault again" serious) concerns but I really need this to be a more positive account. I most likely will remain "mostly inactive" on Twitter (or "X" now I guess).
To avoid inviting harassment towards people who send me submissions (especially pictures with potentially identifying information), I will be posting non-anon asks as separate posts unless otherwise requested.
Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding.

Hi, I'm bringing this post back from the depths because a lot of people are coming to me w/ info about the term "Cinthean" (a term + flag that were apparently made in opposition to this flag at a later date?) and I wanted to clarify that yes, I did coin a similar term in 2020 (see OP)
Sometimes my terms (Hyacinthine, Hyacinthian, Hyacinthi) are grouped together with “Cinthean” on wikis. I think this is where some of the confusion comes from
Tumblr media
Image description. A screenshot of a LGBT wiki terminology page. It reads “ Hyacinthine, Hyacinthian, Hyacinthi or Cinthean: Based on Hyacinth/Hyacinthus from Greek mythology”. The first two terms have links to their respective wiki pages, there are three reference links at the end of the sentence. End Image Description.
I address this in the reblog but I did delete the OP in July 2020. It was burying my flag notifications when it was active and I was focused on that feedback at the time. I was also given a lot of conflicting information on different myth(s) as well so some of these statements might be inaccurate or not completely accurate.
I am fine with people still using these terms by the way! I believe they were coined before Cinthean was (I can’t find an exact date for it) and I don’t dislike them or anything. There should be no issue.
Thank you for reading!
(Also the statement about the flag(s) being able to be used under any applicable terms still stands. You don’t have to use only my terms to use them and they aren’t the “Hyacinthian/etc. flags” or anything now. Just wanted to clarify that!)
EDIT: Link to the Twitter thread, which I’ve edited this post to be closer too for consistency! (You do have to be logged in now to view it).
(There are also a few other term suggestions + discourse in the notes? but those aren’t mine and some are from people who weren’t/aren’t following the blog.  So please don’t mistakenly attribute them to me or say I’m endorsing someone that I don’t know. Ty again.)
ANOTHER EDIT: If I made these suggestions today, I probably would have worded some things differently and been more clear about others (like pronunciation). If anyone has any real desire for me to remake this post I will consider doing so.
I’ve noticed some discussion on a potential term for gay men/guys that isn’t as clunky as fully saying “gay man/men” and is also based on historical greek myths/figures minus r*pe conotations (AFAIK) I’m going to chuck the suggestion for a term centered around Hyacinth/Hyacinthus.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyacinth_(mythology)
Potential terms:
Hyacinthine (existing definition is “of the light purplish-blue color typical of some hyacinth flowers”)
Hyacinthian
Hyacinthi
Personally, I prefer Hyacinthine, as I have a bias towards the flower and also things that are “hyacinthine” are seen as very beautiful.
Thamyris could also be another figure, seeing as he’s cited as “the first man to have loved another male”.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thamyris
Potential Terms:
Thamyrian
Thamyri
I’m just throwing suggestions out there! If you have any input please let me know! Feel free to rb/spread this, I’d really like to know what people think of these and if there is already a discussion out there on them.

Hi, so if you’ve used the thread I quote-retweeted here as a source, it’s unfortunately down right now, however a very kind person sent me a snapshot of it from Wayback Machine that preserved everything.
You can find the new link at the bottom of the twitter thread (image below). Please make sure to update  the link if you’ve used it anywhere!

Link to the twitter thread. If you boost one thing from my blog and Twitter it should absolutely be this. I cannot overstate how disgusted I am right now. I’ll add/link image transcriptions when I can.

Unless it’s a serious allegation I haven’t already addressed (or something similar), please hold off on dropping flag discourse in my asks and DMs atm.
I’m currently focusing on my family as well as the increasing hostility towards LGBT+, GNC, and other targeted groups in my country and state.
A lot of people are doing a lot of good work right now; so if you can, please look into ways you can help those in your area/country and your local/national resources (If you’ve done that already thank you for doing what you can, even if it’s just spreading resources around). Community matters more than ever right now
