Zigfried is a bit of a flop in the Yu-Gi-Oh! villains' gallery.
First of all, the background: he's coming from a rich family selling military stuff then specializing in games. Just like... Seto.
When it comes to Seto, the transition is impactful. We know why he did it. We know how he did it. We know the obstacles he faced.
For Zigfried, it's 1) pointless because he had no reason to specialize in games other than the fact that Kaiba Corp was too powerful in the military field and 2) nothing special because it's a cut-and-paste of part of Seto's story.
Second, the feeling of inferiority. To be fair, anybody would feel inferior to Seto. In Zigfried's case, he's blaming Kaiba Corp for being more successful than his family's company and then Seto for succeeding in a business they both launched around the same time.
Third, the concept of sabotaging the rival company and showing you are the one behind it... in front of everybody. Like, the competition was broadcast worldwide. What kind of customers will you attract? What kind of trust do you hope to inspire?
I think that what would have been more interesting to change his background and therefore his motivations by letting him be the heir of a powerful gaming company (no need to involve the military-to-game-transition) that had monopolized the market for decades until the arrival of the new Kaiba Corp and its young CEO full of innovative ideas making a powerful impact of the gaming market forcing the European company to close its doors.
He could have acted in the shadows and stayed out of the competition. He could have worked hand in hand with his little brother to show the world just how inferior Kaiba's technology is.
It's a short arc and these are only a few changes from the original story but that would have given Zigfried a real reason for revenge, his own personality and backstory and perhaps a feeling of empathy towards him.
