“Have I ever told you how cute you are?” Emma asked casually,as if they were talking about the weather.
“Many times.”
“Good. Because it’strue.” she said, slightly dispirited. Bronwyn could be so dense at times –sweet, honest, caring, sure – but absolutely impossible to flirt with. She’dbrought it up with Hugh before, who had been avid that she made it clear she meantit in a romantic sense but not be over-the-top about it. Whatever that meant.
(The lesson there is not to go to Hugh for relationshipadvice, ever, she realised.)
Bronwyn spared her ashort look out of the corner of her eye and smirked. “Thanks.” She looked as ifshe were about to change the subject.
“I mean that, Wyn. It’sbeen really good spending so muchtime with you today. You’re so awesome.”
“We just went to thestore to pick up groceries for Mrs Portman.”
“That’s not thepoint.” Emma said through gritted teeth.
“What is the point?”She sounded genuinely confused.
This girl. “I don’t know. I’m just-” Emma tried to quell herfrustration and lowered her voice. “I’m trying to say that I like you.”
“Oh.” Bronwyn stoppedin her tracks, now even more confused. “As a friend?”
Emma scoffed in exasperation. “No, not as a friend, loser. I’mflirting with you. I swear to god I could kiss you on the lips right nowand you’d think it was a…” She made slow arm gestures looking for the words. “…platonicgesture of friendship.” She lifted her eyes from the sidewalk to Bronwyn, wholooked slightly amused all of a sudden.
“So go ahead.”

I'm going away for camp for two weeks!
see y'all! i may provide sporadic updates if i can’t get service (i think CITs can have their phones). but i’m super excited bc this is another stop the path to becoming a staff member at camp which i really wanna be!! also i get to work with horses and i love working with them so much!!!! like this is the first time i’m working with horses since i quit riding two years ago in so happy!!!!
