Jimmy Gadd is the excellent editor of The Mentalist and he has always been very active with the fans. He still posts Mentalist content even though the show finished 9 years ago! This Instagram post was from July 2022 and explains the origins of the show, which is quite an interesting read! The worst thing possible happened, and you saw the aftermath, and you blamed yourself. You crawled from the grave, left two closed casket funerals, and vowed yourself to revenge. You live a half life because the two people you loved most are dead. And you think it's your fault. You are a dog on the hunt, you are a sword begging for blood, you are unreachable, you are a liar, but you speak only the truth when it matters.

You came for revenge. But you found love. She, who still believes in absolute goodness and looks at you and sees the man, not the sword, not the liar, and not the killer. She, who brushes the grave dirt from your shoulders and gives you a reason to see the sun again. I know it hasn't been the most pleasant experience having a camera crew here. But you gotta cooperate. Deputy AG's orders.

#i love moments like this in the mentalist #because like you can be the closest person to someone and see their grief more than anyone else and inevitably we are all going to say #something thats like 🤦🏻‍♀️ to the grieving person #and i just love how they show how jane and lisbon handle that and that its not awkward but thatbhe actually uses this as a moment to open up #to her instead and its just soo...#like aometimes i wonder what bruno heller went through in his life to write grief to such a nuanced level #and im grateful everyday for this show because lil 15 year old grieving me desperately needed it #actually have more to say lol...i think its just shows that the team and of course especially lisbon are janes protectors in the way they #are the ones that truly know him...they are the few thatbget to see him and even then only lisbon sees the true him #but even though they arenin the inner circle they arent exempt from saying stupid stuff #because we all do it...it will just happen... anyone whoes lost someone knows it will happen #but the difference is so strong that instead of fully withdrawing or just being angry he just decides to open up #and it makes me wonder how much hes grown over the 5 years to be able to get to this point...to be vulnerable enough to say this instead of #letting the emotion come out in a different way #anyhoo this is all iver the place but its just ugh this scene #the mentalist #patrick jane #jisbon #teresa lisbon
