I know I’m a bit late to the “10 year olds in Sephora” conversation but it honestly makes me feel so ill.
I am all for older people using makeup if they want! Hell if a kid wants to try on some eyeshadow or get a small makeover for fun then that’s fine by me.
My issue is these young girls are using products that they do not need and will damage their skin because some beauty influencer is telling them they need it.
People are also treating it like a meme, like it’s the kids’ fault for acting like this. Even the “entitled” kids deserve love and respect, I genuinely do not think kids can be at fault for being “entitled” or “spoiled” since it is up to the parents for the most part.
Now we have another group contributing: Media. The beauty industry has taken over youtube, tiktok, instagram, etc. Ads saying “you need this cream for your wrinkles!” targeted at someone who hasn’t even gotten their first pimple.
And to be fair this is still to the fault of the parents for the most part, monitoring what they’re viewing and what is happening is a big part of being a parent.
It can be difficult since being seen as “uncool” at school does mean a lot of bullying. Back when I was a kid I was bullied for not wearing name-brand things and not seeing the point in it, I was bullied for being fat and “unattractive” to my peers. Even when I tried to fit in and act super feminine it didn’t work.
This is obviously a multi-faceted issue and I am just rambling off my opinions. If you want a well scripted and though out take on all this I suggest this video by FunkyFrogBait

To me it feels like the 2016 era of “feminists getting owned kek comp” was just the starting point of feminism being seen as “cringey”
Now we have the manosphere, redpilled ideology, etc. and with the commodification of feminism it seems like using the word “feminist” is weird to a lot of people.
can we just have, like, any feminist movement whatsoever. did everyone just stop caring?

I usually don’t respond to conservatives but I haven’t heard something this batshit crazy in a while.
being trans isn’t a choice, just like how being gay isn’t a choice. you don’t just wake up one day and say “welp time to be trans”

the biggest thing i don’t understand about sw3rfs is a lot of them are pro choice for the same reason i am pro sex work.
Banning abortion doesn’t mean abortions will stop, it means abortions will become unsafe and someone in need of an abortion will be forced to put themselves in danger.
Sex workers deserve the right to their job. They deserve the right to have safe encounters, std testing of their clients, and protection from sexual assault. Sex work is real work and legalizing it will put more protections into place.
Banning sex work will not stop it from happening, it just makes it unsafe for the worker.

i hate the new reddit mobile update where when you try to swipe though your feed it gives “related” subreddits (even if you mute said subreddit)
i browse r/gendercynical and r/arethecisok sometimes and now i’m getting recommended transphobic subreddits because reddit thinks they are similar. even when you go to a specific subreddit it’ll eventually give you different subreddit’s images.

URGENT UPDATE!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Due to the heavy rains in Gaza, many camps are experiencing flooding! To counter this, people have begun digging canals between the camps to try and keep the water away from the tents.
Unfortunately, there isn't much else we can do about this other than digging waterways. Wood is in limited supply and used mostly for cooking and boiling water so they can't build platforms for the tents.
Please donate today. Hussam has said he is trying to put together menstrual hygiene care packages to aid the women and girls who are experiencing such limited supplies!
All your donations go directly to people in need with NO middle man in between! Please consider donating or spreading this link around!

Abdalhadi Alijla - "What can I tell my 76-year-old mother and my 10-year-old niece? "The ICJ does not see ordering a ceasefire as necessary for your survival." Gazans' eyes and ears were eagerly awaiting the word "stop" or "ceasefire”."
Abla Abdelhadi: "Please keep in mind our Palestinian people in Gaza don't feel like celebrating incremental legal "wins". They're allowed to express outrage, disappointment & whatever they want. They're still under Israel's bombs, nothing for them to celebrate!"
Remi Kanazi: "The ICJ isn't the authority here. Palestinians are. It is they who have experienced the genocide. It is they who have faced the gruesome crimes detailed in those halls. It is they who continue to bury the dead, search for food & hope to dodge the next bomb dropped. Ceasefire now."

[ID: A digital painting in pastel colors showing a colorful crowd of different animals holding a Palestinian and Indiginous Australian flags, with text above them that reads, "From the river to the Sea, always was, always will be", with white doves flying next to the flags. A small artist's signature at the bottom reads, "jesterpunk". End ID.]
🕊️ every year in my lifetime, I've seen an ugly blue british flag printed on single use cups and ugly tshirts on January 26th, celebrating stolen land, stolen language and stolen children. this year in particular, I feel the need to make my politics clear through art, as the horrors of colonialism and genocide are mirrored internationally in Palestine. I want to be clear, you do not get to enjoy my art without knowing clearly what my politics are, and you do not get to ignore my politics as an inherent part of my art. no one is free until everyone is free 🖤💛❤️🇵🇸
[Emoji description: A white dove with a green sprig. A black heart, a yellow heart, a red heart, and the Palestinian flag. End emoji description.]

Welp. Indiana is trying to pass a bill that denies all recognition of trans people and claims “marriage is between one biologically sexed person and another” which is very obvious preparation to make it “marriage is only between a man and a woman”
We all told transphobic queer people they aren’t safe, that after they are done fucking over trans people they are coming for the rest of the community. We tried to be allies with cis queer people but it fell on deaf ears.
They are coming for you too. It’s time to stand with your trans siblings.

This is a tempting parallel to draw, but it doesn’t tell a whole or accurate story.
The idea of autogynephilia isn’t just the idea that lesbian trans women transition because they think lesbianism is sexy so they want to be lesbians for sex reasons.
Autogynephilia is part of a larger sexological theory, dreamed up by a specific individual named Ray Blanchard, that there are two types of trans woman: the “homosexual transsexual”, who is male-attracted, and the “non-homosexual transsexual”, who exhibits autogynephilia - a sexual fetish for being a woman that’s also a romantic orientation toward oneself-as-a-woman that’s also a type of fantasy about female embodiment or crossdressing or doing traditionally feminine activities like having sex with men.
The theory of autogynephilia comes loaded with a bunch of other particular and nonsensical ideas, including but not limited to the idea of the “erotic target location error” and “erotic target identity inversion”, the idea that all erotic crossdressing fantasies are fantasies of being the gender one dresses as, and the idea that bisexuality in trans women is attributable to “meta-attraction” in which the women are not actually attracted to men but only to the sense of femininity that sex with men can grant them.
Blanchard and his associates J. Michael Bailey and Anne Lawrence have been responsible for propagating this concept of autogynephilia across numerous academic journals articles and multiple books over the past 34 years, including Lambda Award nominee The Man Who Would Be Queen.
The idea of gay trans men transitioning because they like BL
mostly manifests as the idea that young people who were assigned female at birth are experiencing a form of social contagion or susceptibility to media influence rather than a deep-set paraphilia (the way autogynephilia has traditionally been theorized),
has mostly emerged in a vernacular way inside of trans communities and as an explanation for offspring’s transgenderism by transphobic parents, rather than as a formal sexological concept (Blanchard didn’t pick up the torch on “autohomoeroticism” until something like 2018, well after trans people had been commenting on the idea for years), and
has not had the reach or impact the theory of autogynephilia has had.
It’s not the worst comparison in the world, but assuming 1:1 mirroring between the situation with autogynephilia and the situation with gay-tboys-are-just-doing-it-because-they-read-too-much-yaoi would produce a lot of incorrect assumptions about whichever the thinker is less familiar with.

People not grasping what "trans men hold power over trans women" means is probably the most frustrating part of talking abt intracommunity transmisogyny

I’m so fucking tired of this stupid fucking resurgence of people arguing that misandry is real or a coherent form of oppression at all so I wanna address this more directly. Most of the arguments I’ve seen rely on the fact that men are harmed and constrained by the patriarchy, and you know what, that’s true!
But cis people are harmed and constrained by the existence of the gender binary. That doesn’t mean that cisphobia is real. Straight people are harmed and constrained by heteronormativity, but that doesn’t make heterophobia real.
I really thought this stuff was obvious but I guess it isn’t. I need all of you who are complaining about “misandry” to understand that you sound like the down with cis bus post
