10 Tips for Improving Your Wildlife Photography
Ever since digital SLR technology has become more readily available, more and more people have become photography enthusiasts, and more and more photography enthusiasts have started venturing into a genre previously reserved for only a select few…Wildlife Photography. It seems that this field, in conjunction with Landscape Photography, has really seen a huge growth spurt in these last few years…at least as it pertains to the amount of people practicing them as serious hobbyists or budding professionals. This is especially true in my native country of South Africa, where it’s long been many a family’s tradition to visit legendary self-drive safari locations such as the Kruger National Park. Having neighbouring countries like Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe also doesn’t affect this trend negatively!

Working With Mixed Light
I started my professional photography career back in 1979. That year I sold my first image for publication. In the ensuing 35 years I have been continually selling images as an editorial photographer and a stock photographer, portraying the world as I find it rather than working in the controlled environment of a studio. Along the way I have continually evolved. I embraced digital imaging in 2003 and started to work with video four years ago.
Over those three and a half decades, the definition of what makes one a professional publication photographer similarly has been changing. I say this because, with the democratization of photography through digital imaging and smartphone cameras, it's more important than ever to clarify the definition of just what a pro is.

Best Techniques For Digital Exposures
Film photographers have known for years the importance of correct exposure. If you overexpose a slide, the highlights are gone irretrievably. If you underexpose a slide, the image will be murky, with no true black tone in the darkest areas. Negative films have a little more leeway, in that you can make some adjustments when printing the negative, but again, the image quality won’t be great if the image is over- or underexposed.
An all-too-common attitude among digital photographers is, "Oh, I’ll fix it in Photoshop."
Hey, I’m guilty of it, too. During my first few years in digital after 40 years of shooting film, I slipped into sloppiness with my exposures. But I’ve learned that while you can do some amazing things with Photoshop and other image-editing software—things that film photographers can only dream about—you can’t make an under- or overexposed image look as good as a properly exposed one.

Above The Landscape
As drones become more popular and easier to use, we talk to leading aerial photographers about how they’re making the most out of this new way of looking at a scene.
Drones, unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs, multirotor radio-controlled aircraft, quadcopters—whatever you call them, photographers who have taken their cameras to the sky are changing the way we see the world. As these devices get easier to fly and more affordable, we should expect to see more of them for a variety of uses. But with these devices comes the responsibility of keeping yourself and those around you safe, and following the laws and guidelines that are in place to ensure that safety. Drone User Groups are available in over a dozen states across the U.S., as well as in Australia, Africa and Europe, which offer educational events and a shared passion for the applications of this technology. The Internet also offers numerous resources to help prepare beginners for taking flight. To bring you even more insight into the various uses of drones and the safety measures that should be taken when flying them, we turned to some professionals who have years of experience using these devices for photography and videography.

Sharpen Your Vision
You can make sharp, properly exposed photos—so what? A technically flawless image lacking a compelling theme won’t do much for viewers. Ansel Adams once said, “There is nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept.” If you can’t make photos that excite people, then your work will never get noticed.
Making the leap past “fuzzy concept” photos won’t just happen overnight, and instead takes time and lots of practice. I’ve been making photos for 20 years, and I’m still constantly learning how to strengthen my artistic vision. Although I can’t offer any shortcuts, I can share five of my favorite techniques for making bold photographs to help you sharpen your personal creative vision and to inject energy, life and meaning into your images.

How to Capture Great Photos in Low Light
Tumblr media
The buttons you press on a camera to produce the right exposure in low light are all the same as when you shoot in the middle of the day; the same rules of exposure apply, it’s just a little harder to get there.
When there’s less light in a scene, you have 2 choices: create more light yourself, or change the settings on your camera to react differently to the light available.
This tutorial will show you how to do that.

Human Nature 4K
Director Amon Barker grew up exploring the mountains, valleys, and desserts of New Mexico and developed a passion for the outdoors. He was drawn to photography in order to share his experiences with the landscape. Along the way he met others with a similar connection to the environment even when living very different lives.
When we came up with the concept for the Human Nature short it was very simple. We wanted to create powerful images of the natural world that would remind viewers of their connection to the land and it's personal meaning to them. We hit the road on a series of production road trips and the story of the edit unfolded through our journey. None of us will forgot the moments along the way.
