DAY 21
I AM STILL SCARED. BUT I AM TRYING TO RATIONALIZE IT.
I DON’T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. I’VE BEEN FEELING DIFFERENT FOR THE PAST FEW DAYS. FEELING LIKE EVERYONE WAS OUT TO GET ME. IT HAS HALTED MY RESEARCH.
THIS ISN’T THE FIRST TIME SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAS HAPPENED, THOUGH THIS WAS A DIFFERENT CASE. I WISH THIS WOULD STOP HAPPENING. I THOUGHT THAT BEING OUT OF THAT... PRISON WOULD FIX THINGS, BUT IT DIDN’T. I’M STILL BROKEN. AND I THOUGHT THE OTHERS WOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT, BUT THEY HAVEN’T YET, THANKFULLY.
MAYBE I SHOULD JUST TRY AND FORGET THIS ALL HAPPENED. I’M SURE IT WON’T HAPPEN AGAIN.
I HAVE LOTS OF RESEARCH TO CATCH UP ON, AFTER ALL!

DAY 18
THEY’RE ALL LOOKING
LOOK AWAY
LOOK AWAY
THE MASK IS MINE
I WON’T LET THEM GET TO ME
I WON’T SURRENDER
I WILL BE THE ONE TO SAVE THEM WHETHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT

[ For the past day, Doc has been feeling strangely paranoid. ]
[ Every movement made toward him felt like an attempt to grab at his face, to pull his mask away. Every time someone gave him attention, he feared for the worst. He tried to do his usual observations, but he just didn’t feel safe. ]
[ He felt like everyone was out to get him. No, that can’t be true. But the way they moved and spoke, oh, they’re all talking about him, aren’t they? Plotting his downfall, right in front of him, they want him to know, they’re trying to rile him up. ]
[ They wanted revenge. They wanted his mask. They wanted him shunned. No - they want him gone. He couldn’t trust anyone. ]
[ They all wanted his mask, they want him to reveal his atrocities, his abomination of a face, to force him into hiding. He can’t let that happen. He won’t let that happen. ]

DAY 16
TODAY SOMETHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENED. ME AND OTTO GOT INTO A BIT OF A FIGHT. AND DURING IT, MY MASK WAS TAKEN; A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE. BUT IN ALL HONESTY, THAT’S NOT WHAT I’M FOCUSED ON.
OTTO MADE ME THINK ABOUT MY PAST ACTIONS. I AM AWARE THAT THE OTHERS DON’T REALLY LIKE MY STUDIES. I DIDN’T REALLY CARE ABOUT THAT UNTIL I EXPERIENCED SAID DISCOMFORT FOR MYSELF BY OTTO. I THINK HE WAS RIGHT; THERE’S NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHAT I DO, AND WHAT OTTO DID TO ME. UGH, I HATE ADMITTING TO THAT.
I DON’T REALLY KNOW WHERE TO GO FROM HERE. I DON’T LIKE IT WHEN HE IS UPSET WITH ME. I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHY I CARE ABOUT HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT ME SO MUCH. AND YET, I JUST DON’T WANT TO AGREE WITH HIM.
I HAVE A LOT OF THINKING TO DO TONIGHT.
NOTE TO SELF: ONE DAY YOU MAY HAVE TO GO BACK TO THAT PLACE TO FIND EXTRA MASKS. THIS HAS BECOME A BIT OF A RISK.
ALSO, THAT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN OTTO?? FURTHER RESEARCH IS REQUIRED.

What is your favorite currency to eat?
I have a $5 bill, you can have it?
I’D ONLY EVER EATEN ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR BILLS UNTIL A FEW WEEKS AGO. MY FAVORITE REMAINS THE SAME. BUT THANK YOU FOR THE FIVE!
[ Doc eats the $5, weirdly slowly ]

the real benefit to being a mad scientist is no one really knows what you're capable of. As long as I say it with confidence, why wouldn't you believe I made a ring that's actually a detonator to my security system that's filled with a deadly nerve agent? Is that really any less likely than me keeping a human brain alive and conscious inside a tube of green goo so I can later implant it into a body constructed out of stolen corpse parts?

( “OKAY! SLEEP WELL!” )
[ Doc grabs the lamp from the shelf, and his journal, and then gives a little pat-pat to Otto’s back. He then leaves and closes the door. Once he’s out and the door’s closed, he pauses to let himself process everything. ]
[ Wow. Tonight did not go as planned. But it didn’t really seem like a bad thing either. He still got to do the research he wanted in the end - with Otto of all robots! ]
[ It was only then he realized how much he really enjoyed that, being with Otto. He didn’t really know why, though. Maybe Otto’s model interested him more than he initially thought. Or maybe it had something to do with the weird emotions he had felt in connection to theirs. Whatever it was, it made him smile. Hmm… Doc comes to the conclusion that he should run more studies and tests on Otto specifically to figure it out. ]
[ …With their permission next time. Probably. ]
[ He enters his own room to sleep. While yes, the beds aren’t as comfortable as they could be, to Doc, it felt like sleeping on a cloud when compared to the months he spent sleeping on the ground, so he was just fine. ]
[ It was an odd hour, around 3am, where most would be asleep, but Doc had other plans. As he made his way through the dark room, he grabbed a hold of Otto and very carefully pulled them over his shoulders. ]
[ Now at Doc's office, Otto's lying face up on a hospital bed tilted slightly upward, their arms and wheel restrained. Doc is in the background, cycling through some notes as he prepares for the experiment. ]
- @everyday-normal-medibot
[ Otto winced as he woke up, the pain in his eye very much still present. Despite not being able to see a thing in the dark, they knew immediately that this wasn't home. ]
[ That was already bad enough, but being met with resistance from the restraints when he tried to get up made things a million times worse. Their mind began to spiral as they stared off into nothing. Deeper and deeper, darker and darker. ]
[ With a loud SNAP, he broke one arm free, undoing the restraints on his other arm. Getting up, he unsheathed the vita-messer, a quiet shhhhing noise ringing out throughout the office as he moved closer and closer to Doc, not registering who he is or the fact that he was even a fellow robot. ]
[ Without any warning, Otto rushed the other medibot and pinned him to the wall, putting the blade up to his neck as they stared him down with the rage of a prey animal that knows its destined to be killed and eaten, but refuses to go down without a fight. ]

[ And so, Doc starts the process. Plucking out the glass shards, it feels like splinters, and he can’t be gentle about them either. Then, he starts replacing the broken wires. Fortunately, the origin of the wires didn’t matter. And, after a long while of trial and error, with the wiring, he finishes; or at least, he really, really hopes he’s done. Now, he just needs a lens, so he leaves to find one. He ends up being gone for a few minutes. ]

[ The tone shift in Doc’s voice was sudden and a little alarming. He giggled as he prepared his work space. He picked up the lamp from his desk and moved it to a shelf above the bed, it pointing down at Otto. He then grabbed his journal and a couple of required tools. Not the most professional setup, but it’ll do for now. ]
[ He wheels over to Otto to get a close look using a slightly chipped magnifying glass. He leans closely toward the damaged eye. The lens is shattered completely, and there’s glass shards stuck in their eye socket, cutting into a few wires. Doc grimaces as he realizes the extent of the damage. ]
