When I was reading Global Examination I was pretty surprised at how easily You Huo and Qin Jiu fall in love considering danmei is notoriously angsty. They start out cold but partial to each other as they recognize talent and it evolves into partners because no one else can keep up with them. Neither admits it but they have fun doing exams with another crazy anarchist bastard, and before they know it they care for each other.
They lock their relationship in (again) about halfway through the novel, openly admit to dating to the people around them, cuddle when they sleep, and flirt incessantly. I think it’s sort of sweet that they went through the motions of doubt, shame, self sacrifice, miscommunication, eta before the novel even started. It’s their third time on this and dammit they just love each other

was rereading that part in qqgk during the foreign language exam where huo wrote GI instead of 001 and i just had to stop and take in the fact that love is so *gestures wildly* because what do you mean neither of them remember each other but they do
what do you mean the mind forgets but love persists and insists on remembering? what do you mean that they can't remember if they've met or when or where or how but a part of him remembers these two seemingly insignificant letters? what do you mean he didn't know what those letters meant or who it would call for or what it would do but knows their call will always be answered?
what do you mean they've forgotten when they're a part of each other that they cannot lose, not willingly — not essentially.
