The timeline has always been pretty clear, so i don't know why that side is acting surprised right now.
Sjm has only addressed Elain and Lucien 3 times (2 in 2016) and one time in 2017.
The last one was during a Q&A during the Tower of Dawn Tour and giving how Acofas/Acosf turned out, i think we all have the answer for the question it was posed :
INTERVIEWER: So the next question is from Abigail, and says: Will Elain accept the mating bond with Lucien? And congrats on your announcement!
SJM: (people cheering) Aw, thank you! So if you guys don't know what we're talking about... I'm preggers. (Laughter and cheers) --talks about it some more before coming back to topic--
You... might get an answer to Elain's fate in the upcoming spin off books. I'm not gonna tell you when. Once you read ACOFAS, you may get a sense of the timeline and layout and things, but I've been planning and thinking... I know everyone's fate and (hesitates and laughs) romantic situation.
Interviewer: Not ominous, at all.
SJM: (literally cackles maniacally) Jusf - I have so many secrets I'm keeping from you guys!
Charlie Bowater: How do not let anything slip?
SJM: I live in constant terror of just accidentally being like, "oh and by the way these people are mates. Surprise!" I have no self-restraint in any regards except trying to keep secrets. (...)

Hunt risking his life to save Bryce :
Ruhn knew Sandriel had signed her own death warrant when she didn’t bring her triarii back
with her. And stamped the official seal on it the moment she’d revealed that she’d put Bryce in
the Asteri’s line of fire.
There was no hesitation in Hunt. No fear.
Hunt leapt out of the helicopter, his wings tucked in tight. A one-way ticket. His last flight.
Azriel risking his life to save Elain:
From the shadows near the entrance to the tent, Azriel said, as if in answer to some unspoken
debate, “I’m getting her back.”
Nesta slid her gaze to the shadowsinger. Azriel’s hazel eyes glowed golden in the shadows.
Nesta said, “Then you will die.”
Azriel only repeated, rage glazing that stare, “I’m getting her back.”
Az hadn’t so much as hesitated before going into the heart of Hybern’s
war-camp.
Ruhn in Hosab telling Bryce that Hunt had displayed the first mate behavior towards her back when she was in danger during Hoeab :
This was how he was that day with Sandriel, Ruhn said into her mind.
When he ripped off her head. He added tightly, You were in danger then,
too.
And what’s that supposed to mean?
Why don’t you tell me?
You seem like you know what the fuck is happening with him.
Ruhn glared at her as Hunt continued to glow and menace. It means
that he’s going ballistic in the way that only mates can when the other is
threatened. It’s what happened then, and what’s happening now.

Stop painting Azriel as this desperate, introverted, loner type. He is nothing short of beautiful with a midnight voice and the biggest wings. Feyre wonders if he gets his information through stone-cold manners as much as stealth and shadows and even Lucien thinks he seems like a decent enough male. Rhys notes his sly, wicked sense of humor and Cassian observes he can waltz as easily as breathing. Even Mor who is only romantically interested in women considers sleeping with him just to make sure. The boy is good. Lucien is not better suited for Elain because they both like socialising— Az is charming the masses left, right and centre. He could bed (and murder) most of Prythian. You know it, I know it, SJM knows it and Elain Archeron knows it too. Good day.
