taylor happy 15 years,

i first heard your music during the fearless era when my mom played me “fifteen” in the car, i was 6 years old. i remember watching the music videos for “love story” and “ybwm” and loving them. when speak now came out i was 8 and remember loving “mean” and when i was hurt by someone, my mom would always tell me “don’t you worry your pretty little mind people throw rocks at things that shine.” i first remember memorizing the entire album, lyric after lyric, in the RED era. i would dance around in the basement to my favorite songs (at the time these were state of grace and holy ground) and i wanted concert tickets sooo badly, i was 10. then when 1989 came out i did the same thing. downloaded the whole album, memorized lyric after lyric and wanted concert tickets (that i still didn’t get but my friends did lol). at the time i was 12, i didn’t have any social media and didn’t know what a “swiftie” was, i was too young. then reputation hit. and this time, at 15 years old, i got concert tickets and made a fan account. this is why i adore the reputation era so much! with lover, my first FULL era ONLINE as a swiftie is so exciting and i’ve had so many wonderful memories including my very first target release week. with both folklore and evermore my world was turned upside down and the friends that you gave me became inseparable from me though the pandemic, thank you so much! now with re-recording it means so much to me because next fall i will be in the music industry, that’s my major in college!!! Seeing you own your own work as it should be makes my heart beyond proud. i love you so much. thank you for inspiring me everyday. cant wait to hug you buddy♥️🥲 @taylorswift @taylornation

I’ve always said that the world is a different place for the heartbroken. It moves on a different axis, at a different speed. Time skips backwards and forwards fleetingly. The heartbroken might go through thousands of micro-emotions a day trying to figure out how to get through it without picking up the phone to hear that old familiar voice. In the land of heartbreak, moments of strength, independence, and devil-may-care rebellion are intricately woven together with grief, paralyzing vulnerability and hopelessness. Imagining your future might always take you on a detour back to the past. And this is all to say, that the next album I’ll be releasing is my version of Red.

Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person. It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together in the end. Happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric, wild, and tortured by memories past. Like trying on pieces of a new life, I went into the studio and experimented with different sounds and collaborators. And I’m not sure if it was pouring my thoughts into this album, hearing thousands of your voices sing the lyrics back to me in passionate solidarity, or if it was simply time, but something was healed along the way.

Sometimes you need to talk it over (over and over and over) for it to ever really be… over. Like your friend who calls you in the middle of the night going on and on about their ex, I just couldn’t stop writing. This will be the first time you hear all 30 songs that were meant to go on Red. And hey, one of them is even ten minutes long.

Red (Taylor’s Version) will be out November 19.
