In Islam, during Ramadan, dates are used to break the daily fast that Muslims engage in and are sacred symbols of faith, abundance, longevity, hospitality and peace. In other faiths, they are also used to represent faith, power and pilgrimage. Dates, being high in sugar, are prosperous in desert regions and were known for keeping men from starvation. In the same way dates are subtly sweet, so are you. More even-tempered than others, though you likely have a more placid surface, your waters do run deep. Thinking about. How powerful of a sorceress Signe is. How unassuming she can be. At first glance, she is an assistant librarian for the Knights of Favonius and an apprentice witch who’s on the quieter, more cordial side. But Signe has the slightest sensitivity to the Abyss, making her electro just that much stronger (I headcanon her spells to look something like the electro-adjacent teleport ability we see in that one world quest in Fontaine — or like those summoning circles we see in the Beryl region). She may not be the best fighter when it comes to physical combat, but if you’re faced against her under normal conditions when she has her spells, you’ll definitely be coming away from it more than just singed.

Signe is courageous to an extent, but I think she's calculating enough to measure her risks. Sure, sometimes she bites off more than she can chew, but she won't go into a fight without at least a good plan. The bravest moment in her life might have been when she got her Vision at 14, where she went into Dragonspine looking for some information on her parents -- and then managed to hold her own against a Frostarm Lawachurl. Had it not been for her electro Vision, she might have died; but she managed to survive against all odds until a Favonius search party came to her rescue.

salvia : is your muse possessive over people or things that matter a lot to them ?how do they express that possessiveness , or lack thereof ?
I wouldn't call Signe possessive, per se, but I do think she's rather protective of the people or things she cares about. Growing up in Mondstadt means that freedom is an important virtue to her, so being possessive isn't something that comes to her naturally. But if someone were to try and hurt someone she cared about, she would fight tooth and nail to make sure they were okay. Back when she was newly orphaned, though, things were a lot harder to come by, so I do think little Signe was a little possessive over certain people/things for fear of them disappearing. I think even currently, she tends to cling a bit to people she cares about, albeit not nearly to the same extent (can we say ✨abandonment issues✨?)
On the more positive side, I think she also likes little gestures from the people she cares about that show they're connected in some way; hair ribbons around a sword hilt, wearing emblems or colors that are associated with the other person, etc.
snapdragon : is your muse merciful ? why or why not ?
Signe is a surprisingly calculated person, so I think when she is merciful depends on the situation. If someone she didn't know were to return a book late, for example, she likely wouldn't budge on late fees or whatever consequences come after. If she was on a mission and she needed to incapacitate someone, I think incapacitation would be as far as she went unless the cost of keeping the enemy alive would outweigh the benefit (i.e. will this person be useful to me later? 9/10 times the answer is going to be yes). If it's someone she knows, though, she will have a lot more room for mercy/empathy, maybe even at her own cost.

angelica : where does your muse draw inspiration in life ? what motivates them ?
Signe is a naturally very curious individual. The thirst for knowledge is usually what motivates her, sometimes to a fault. I think this stems from her not knowing that she has much of a background to begin with; she knows she's Khaenri'ahn, but growing up as an orphan in Mondstadt, it's not something that came to mind until recently. I think the thirst to know more about her background and to have something to say "this is where I came from" helps her feel a little less lonely, and also serves as a motivator.
hibiscus : how does your muse view the gentler , daintier things in life ?as things worth preserving & caring for , or things only bound to wither & disappear ?
I think Signe has a fondness for the gentler things in life, even though it's not something she'll admit upfront. Some of her favorites -- like hummingbirds as her favorite animal and glaze lilies as her favorite flower -- are things that she is drawn to, and she'll sit and watch for hours to enjoy them while they're there. I think she thinks of them as things worth preserving; after all, if Mondstadt didn't think of her as something worth caring for when she was younger, where would she be?
HOWEVER. I also think she's not one to dwell on the loss of something considered fragile or gentle. Her upbringing means she relates to things that are difficult to maintain, but her background as an academic means that she's aware of the way things pass and will assume it's simply meant to be.

If there was one thing the witch was particularly bad at, it was lying. Particularly strong facial expressions did not make for a good poker face, especially when compared to the man with a seemingly perpetual smirk on his face. This time, the hot pot dish he'd brought her had the strange underlying taste of sea ganoderma and lavender melon, and Signe was convinced he'd done it to see her facial expressions contort. Her nose scrunched up, much like a cat who'd been exposed to an offensive smell, but she still tried to grin and bear it.
"It's not bad," she lied, although the glare she gave the Commissioner suggested that she knew his real motivations. At least Ayato wasn't the one who prepared it this time, leaving her a little room for honesty. "...Maybe next time we could add something to offset the, er... astringency."

Ayato's timing could not have been more perfect. Signe had won the fight, warding off some nameless attackers that seemed to think lying in wait for the Kamisato heir to be caught off guard was a good idea. The bandits were sent running with singed hair and the lingering smell of ozone sticking to their clothes, and the prickly feel of Electro still hung heavy in the air. But it was not without its toll; the witch had a heavy gash at her shoulder among other things, and she was left in a more hidden area of the garden with little chance for passersby.
Whether the bandits thought Ayato might return with little room for mercy in the fight, or whether they had finally had enough of the witch's prowess with Electro, the bandits were nowhere to be seen. Signe took Ayato's hand gladly, relishing in the way he supported her on the way up. Her legs shook, but with a sharp breath, she was able to bring herself up on her two feet. With the way she gripped at the Commissioner's shoulder, though, it was clear that she was hardly in an easy state.
"I'm okay. I'm fine," she insisted, brow furrowed as if she were trying to convince herself of the same thing. "I've dealt with worse. I'm more concerned with those bandits still being on the loose somewhere. If I hadn't caught them..."

Ayato liked to believe he was hardly a man that got angry over much. Getting angry over matters put him at the disadvantage and gave those who seek to gain something a weak spot to target. But if there was one thing that never ceased to get under it's skin it was those that dared to put their hands on those he cared for.
Seeing her bleeding in the garden because of something so brazen so close to the estate simply because the guards meant to protect the estate were not doing their duties rose a fury in his heart that someone would be on the receiving end of. But that would be a matter he would address in due time.
For now he focused on her, reaching out he frowned at the the mess those men had left her. "Come, let's get you cleaned up. I'll have Thoma go get a doctor."

Rarely did visitors from Teyvat arrive in the nation of Khaenri'ah without causing a stir, and this was no exception. Rumors of Al-Haytham's prowess had indeed traveled into the deep maw of the godless nation, and King Irmin had sent his best to meet him with a warm welcome. A range of alchemists and sages sat on the wagon that would take them further in, all dressed in luxurious-looking white robes with violet accents that denoted them part of the royal court. Signe herself was dressed in deep lavender, although they weren't nearly as decorated as those of the mage seated next to her.
"I am," she replied simply, although the once-over she gave the scholar suggested there was a bit more to say than she let on. Signe was hardly one for idle conversation, but rarely did she get to accompany the court on diplomatic matters, and it was the first time seeing a scholar dressed so particularly. She also noticed the crease of his brow, the gentle ebb of tension that seemed to prick at the stranger. Breaking the silence once more, Signe gestured towards the rest of the party, having broken into their own quiet conversation long ago.
"There's hardly any reason to be nervous. They're not nearly as scary as they look."

At some point, he knew his reputation as Al-Hazen would transcend Sumeru's borders and into the kingdom against the gods, Khaenri'ah. He wasn't the first or the last scholar from across Teyvat to be invited, yet he still could help the bicker of nerves as the road traveled from the city of Gurabad to Khaenri'ah was cloaked in night, almost as if the nightfall would conceal them from the gaze of the Gods and Archons that would otherwise strike them down for such a transgression as passing into this new world.
They'd come to the checkpoint without much incident, dismounting from the horses and sumpter beasts that lowed near the stables, everything being loaded on to a wagon that would take them within the kingdom. A mechanical beasts hitched to the wagon steamed from its orifices, glowing by its internal combustion engine, exuding heat. It was warmer from the desert, if nothing else.
"Are you from King Irmin's court?" he inquired of the brunette that had accompanied the welcome party, attempting to break some of the tension.
