Cooking as a love language is absolutely beautiful and we should discuss more about how Nicky shows love by cooking and caring for his loved ones this way? (had few discussions about how my roommate counts her love language as cooking? and thought yeah it’s definitely a love language!) I also like to HC Nicky spending years to replicate and perfect Joe’s favorite childhood dishes? Nicky keeping in mind everyone’s favorite food to cook for them when they seem down? Just very soft thoughts….

First off, I'd like to say how much I appreciate the work you guys do for fans and fandoms. I'm graduating uni in a couple of months and I'm writing my honors thesis on the benefits and drawbacks of reading and writing fanfiction for students. Do you have any good resources you could direct me to, particularly regarding the history of fanfiction? I would greatly appreciate any help you could give me. Thank you!
Thank you for the question! The first place to start would be the Timeline of Fanfiction Meta, which has some excellent links to meta essays, news media commentary, and other discussion about fanfiction. It’s a long list!
The article on “A brief history of fandom, for the teenagers on here who somehow think tumblr invented fandom" has a great breakdown of modern fanfic history, but if you’re looking a little further back (okay, a lot further back), the 2018 essay “In defense of fanfiction" has an overview of transformative works starting with The Epic of Gilgamesh around 2000 BCE. If you want to add a source from news media, The Mary Sue had an article in 2014 called “None Of This Is New: An Oral History Of Fanfiction.”
Lastly, check out “As a professor, may I ask you what you think about fanfiction?" for a great bird’s eye view! It has some fantastic history and a bit of commentary on why fanfiction is a very, very good thing.

After this rewatch I can confidently say that Nicky and Nile are probably going to bond over being the only two members of the group who use guns as they were properly intended.
Nile uses a gun as a blunt object only once through the whole movie, while they’re fighting their way out of Merrick’s labs - she uses it to disarm a guy she then shoots and hauls behind her back. Nicky never does, not even during the chaos of the killfloor scene.
@wickedpact did the Lord’s work on cataloguing all the times Joe ditches a gun after one/two shots to either 1) start using his scimitar, 2) receive another Big Gun from Nicky or 3) go with his fists. Booker hits people with his rifles just as many times as he shoots. Andy mostly Uses Guns Properly, but in the killfloor battle she presses the pistol to a guard’s body to shoot them (they are less than a metre from you, Andy, you’re afraid of missing them?) and she also uses a pistol to hit the goon on the neck after she’s shot them.
So yes, to connect with this glorious post, Nile totally goes to Nicky to Master her Gun Training not just because he’s a ridiculously good sniper, but also because he’s the only one whose gun use doesn’t make her Military Trained mind go * [KILL BILL SIRENS]* UNSAFE GUN HANDLING!!!!!*

(Never watched Hannibal - not my cup of tea - but agree with the description!)
I think more people who watch hannibal should be into whitechapel on itv. it's an early 2010s (british) crime show that deserved another season. it's got rampant gore, a mentally ill protagonist, homoeroticism, curly haired doe eyed guy in love with tall blond broad shouldered guy, insanely over the top plots and dialogue, trauma, and major daddy issues. just seems like there should be an overlap in fans.
