An art style study I did on Studio Ghibli, featuring my OCs. Ghibli contrasts simple character design with its detailed worlds, so this piece was 90% background painting lol.

Given Miyazaki's philosophy of drawing inspiration from real life, I decided to depict a more everyday, town life scene.

Ghibli faces have taller proportions. The lower line of the eyes are often dotted, and the nose placed higher up on the face.

It took time, but I chose demons that go well based on shape/color. My final demon choices form 3 color groupings: blue, white, and red.

Headshot time! This OC of @jupiterdoe's hasn't been getting any love yet, so I decided to paint her. Atropos Morta is a Zabrak Imperial Agent inspired by SWTOR, if I'm not mistaken!

Art Fight 2021: Rai

Posting up some of my old art trades I missed. This one was from 2021.

I've long been a fan of the Magic the Gathering setting of Ravnica. So, when I found out that Alexie's OC Rai is a magitech engineer based on the Izzet guild of Ravnica, I knew I had to draw her! Plus, Izzet counts as steampunk, so I get to pay tribute to the other half of this year's Art Fight theme 🎨

Here is Rai working late at night in the lab, as her barn owl Barney plays with a spare part ^_^

(The character reference explicitly states that Rai has an extra finger on her left hand.)

When my wasp droid OC Norbert isn't ripping military contraptions apart with his bare hands, he's actually a silly doofus curious about society and culture.

Using this extended Inktober as an excuse to finally draw Norbert, my wasp droid OC!

Similar to the body strength of actual wasps, Norbert is capable of lifting things many, many times his own size/weight.

He is against the militarization of science, and treats the military's creations with great prejudice 🤛
