IMBOLC AT SUNSET Follow @eastvan_alchemy_co Admittedly, have never celebrated Imbolc before but it seems appropriate being that we work with the equinoxes AND we opened our shop on the summer solstice. Tonight, February 1st at sundown marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. We’re almost there kids! Imbolc is rooted in Gaelic tradition and originally a pagan festival associating it with the goddess Brigid. A traditional symbol associated with Brigid is the St. Brigid’s cross traditionally hung to protect against fire and evil. What does this have to do with candles? It’s a perfect time to clean out your altars or ritual space with lighting old candles and replacing them with new ones. Transferring the sacred flame as it were. Other symbols of Imbolc include winter snowdrops and spring crocuses. Are you doing anything to celebrate Imbolc?
