Decadent is the acting repetition of the absurd and delirium into the normal. Am I being decadent in my fusing baroque and blues on the medieval "falling tears" motif of 4 notes (basse continue ) ? No. Because it is not a lie. Because it is not an invented reality. And It follows in the footsteps of my "ricarcer Regrets" here and YouTube (full version). So there is consistancy, Anyway, here's one of the things I am working on, a part of the whole, the whole being more than the sum of its parts.... enjoy! .. .. .. #biber #musicvideo #keithjarret #renaissance #baroque #fusion #musicianlife #postclassical #music #eternity #piano #passaglia #fallingmountains #bass #motif #composition #medieval https://www.instagram.com/p/CECjeQNnf5F/?igshid=1xv3ohu2rl416

"To Search Out" is the meaning of this piece. It is asking this: Why do we die? I was somewhat inspired by this: "When the Australian palliative care nurse Bronnie Ware interviewed scores of people in the last 12 weeks of their lives, she asked them their greatest regrets. The most frequent, published in her book The Top Five Regrets of the Dying (2011), were: The Top Five Regrets Of The Dying The Top Five Regrets of the Dying: A Life Transformed by the Dearly Departed gives hope for a better world. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me; I wish I hadn’t worked so hard; I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings; I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends; and I wish that I had let myself be happier." LACHRYMAE #3 Special thank you to John Dowland and to all of you, who take the time to listen. It is very precious because Time is sacred. It exists in us, with us, and is us. Music punctuates our existence and being. Thank you all for your interest in my work!❤ Thank you for taking the time to see and listen. Wish you all to be well and please be safe. And while we are all in pain somewhere, I wish you overcome the vicissitudes of a life of preoccupations by the sense of your higher purpose. Even if we don't understand why we are here, why life wants to thrive always, I hope that you feel purpose and meaning in yourself. I hope you keep hoping, always. Because hope is the future, because we all create in hope, because we believe in the future. Hope spelled note by note. I wish you that. And more. 2020 feels like an extended moment that stretches without moving. Like very slow moving clouds, like a piece by Steve Reich, maybe. But please spell Hope anyways. Always.. We are missing too many pieces to understand. But we can feel it. I suppose that is what I mean. Attach yourself to the feeling of just... being. Just...Being you. #music #musicianlife #creativity #meaning #purpose #melcher #hope #stevereich #satie #existentialism #phenomenology https://www.instagram.com/p/CBQ6aCbnU8f/?igshid=z72ofckdaybx

DAY OF WRATH I am following a tradition by using this melody. I am but one of many composers that have used this anonymous Medieval Chant as the basis for a New composition.  The main melody is from the 13th Century  and is originally a  Gregorian Chant or Plainchant.  Dies Irae means "Day of Wrath" but has been used often to reflect the "Wrath of God", in the Apocalypse with latin verses describing the Day of Judgement. Other Composers who used it in one form or another used it as part of a Requiem Mass (form), Like Mozart and Verdi.  The melody used in this short video was chanted by ancient monks and is also used by other composers,  like Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique,  Liszt's Totentanz (Dance of the Dead) and Rachmaninoff's Isle of the Dead.  Film composers have used this same melody, like Ennio Morricone in "The Mission", Basil Poledouris in "Conan the Barbarian" and Bernard Herrmann in "The Jar", but the best known is probably Wendy Carlos for using it in the opening of the movie "The Shining".  Because of this tradition among composers to quote this melody across the ages, the Dies Irae probably qualifies as the oldest piece of frequently quoted music. The Rapanui Prophecy - Lamentations For Strings, Persian Ney Flute and Oboe
The mixed feeling of hope and distress that the lost Easter Island story tells us.   Death and Rebirth, Climate Change, Destruction and Reconstruction, the Cycles of Life... Once they had Trees and Forests, now they have Stone Statues that keep their secrets.  Music composed in that spirit with Persian Ney Flute, String Orchestra and Oboe... As strange as that world. As Mystic as it feels.
