BeatNeku neo reunion as my angsty, romantic heart wanted to see it

Very quickly, Beat found himself on his last legs. Pi-face was not letting up and even the headstrong blonde could only take on so much. He wasn't sure what it was but his like, aura? His soul? Who even knows, man? Whatever it was, the ex-reaper was wearing it down despite Beat's best efforts to hold him back. To make matters worse, his juniors didn't even bounce like he told 'em to! Well, maybe cause they're worried but this was their ideal if not their only chance to dash.

Beat already wasn't in tip top shape and felt his strength diminish, his body starting to give up on him. Beat grit his teeth, his jaw tensing up, this was looking real bad for him. He's been in his fair share of battles RG and UG alike so as much as he hates to admit it, he knows when he's been got.

Once more, a fist came down on his back forcing the air from his lungs, he groaned and he knew what was coming next. He heard the air tearing from under his enemies fist as it came down and- no contact was made? Instead Beat and anyone in the area was blinded by the light that appeared before him. Beat hissed at the pain in his shoulder, man it's been a while since he's felt this kind of hurt.

"Got me good, yo."

"You okay?"

And all of a sudden, the pain wasn't his main concern anymore, it didn't even hurt that bad, yo. His focus was solely on the person before him. That voice was so familiar and he would know it even if it has changed a bit. Deeper, softer. Beat supposed that's what three years would do, change someone. Three whole years. Since that day in Shinjuku. When he was...

"No way...!"

The blonde looked up into the face of the other and sure enough it was Phones. Carrot top and all. He had gotten taller, his face had matured. Well, all of him had. But he was still Neku.

"Here- Let me help you."

Neku offered his hand to Beat, who stared like he was seeing a ghost, slack jawed. If there was one person who could make Beat speechless, it was him. He took Phone's hand. He could grab him and touch him. He really was here. He's real.

"I can't believe you came back."

"Believe it."

Neku replied with a smile as pulled Beat up to his feet. He just stared for a moment, unable to find his words, after all this time-

"W-where..."

Neku watched Beat, examined him. He had really grown. His style had changed, who would have thought he would pick up the emo look? He looked good. Longer hair suited him oddly enough. Neku hadn't ever pictured him with it before. But he was still the same ol' Beat. Tough guy exterior with a ton of emotions behind it.

"Where the hell you been all this time!'

He could tell it was the same Beat in the way his grip tightened and his free hand balled into a fist The way his teeth clenched a bit. The way his eyes began to sparkle with forming tears. His partner had always been a person of action and his emotions swayed him pretty intensely. It was so good to see Beat again.

"I've looked all over for you!"

Still holding onto Neku's hand, with a strong tug, he pulled his closest friend into a hug. Neku exhaled sharply as he basically bashed into Beat's chest. He had definitely gotten stronger too. Though, it wasn't so much as a hug as much as it was a desperate hold. He felt one of Beat's hands in his hair, holding his head carefully despite his state of distress. His other arm was wrapped across his back and his hand was pulling on his jacket, squeezing Neku to him just a little too tightly. It was a good thing for Beat that no one could see his face. It was scrunched up with emotion and the tears had begun to roll.

"And I couldn't find you anywhere..." The anger had left his voice as he let out a small shudder in his voice.

Maybe it was unreasonable but Neku felt guilty. Just a little. He couldn't help the circumstances of his disappearance. He couldn't help that he wasn't able to return sooner either. Mostly, he felt guilty that he was the cause of Beat's tears. Neku never liked to see him cry, mainly because it was awkward for Neku in his emotionally stunted days. Now it just made his chest clench painfully. He would make it up to the other. Somehow.

"You found me."

Beat thought back to how many times he'd search through Udagawa. How many time he had roam the same stupid streets over and over. Or when he heard a voice that sounded similar, someone with similar style, or even just graffiti that looked like Neku could have done it. That hope always sucked to have when it was fruitless. Now, he knew Shibuya better than the back of his own hand. For three whole years, he hadn't given up his search and he finally found who he was looking for. Well, maybe that hope wasn't for nothing in the end. Cause here was the legend himself.

"You didn't make it easy, man!"

Beat was reduced to tears and said nothing more. Feeling Beat against him, his body was so warm. Neku felt a sudden sense of complete comfort and relief wash over him, getting to touch another person again. Getting to touch Beat again and being able to see that he was okay. Who would have thought that physical contact was something he missed? He mentally chuckled at the idea that his past self would be writhing and wiggling at even the thought of being touched by someone else.

Neku slowly returned Beat's embrace, his arms wrapping around Beat's lower back then making their way up to his shoulder blades, hands gripping at the black jacket. He took in a deep breath and buried his face in the crook of the ex-reaper's neck. Then left out a huge sigh. Which seemed to tickle Beat some because he flinched a little but didn't let go of Neku.

"You've always been such a crybaby?" Neku jabbed playfully.

"Shut up, phones."

"I don't even have headphones anymore, skulls." Neku laughed softly, Beat thought that it sounded the same as before.

Obviously, they couldn't stay there all day but they just might have if they didn't feel like four pairs of eyes on them. Slowly, reluctantly, they parted from each other. Mostly, to give Beat time to collect himself. He became a master as pulling himself together quickly. Neku swiped away a few stray tears on Beat's face for him anyway before he turned to the other party and introduced his friend.

((That's that! I kind of hate it but eh, whatever. It's cute, it's fun, it's short. Whatever.

Aight, time for BeatNeku again

(After the events of Neo)

☠️BeatNeku🎧

• Okay, first thing, Neku thinks Beat's Punk/Emo look is so good and perfectly funny that he is out of his Emo look/behaviour but Beat ends up going Black Parade on him (well, mainly in aesthetic)

• Teases Beat about the headphones and the new look like, "aw, you missed me that much?" "Shuddup, I just look cool, yo" but at the very least, the headphones was def because of Neku

• Beat gives Neku just the tightest of hugs, still strong as hell despite the fact that his baggy clothes hides it

• Neku is so confused by smartphones. Beat is not that much better but knows the basics of using his phone obviously. They probably get matching models.

• Beat totally thinks Neku's quiet maturity is pretty attractive and his small smiles make him melt

• Neku's love language hasn't changed too much and still prefers physical affection to using words but he likes to try and express his thoughts verbally.

• Beat is not as flustered to express his affection through words, in fact, he felt like he just absolutely needed to when Neku came back.

•Neku is so fucking touch starved, like three years in Shinjuku with only bodiless souls?

•Maybe he doesn't really realize it at first but when he becomes aware of this, it's almost painful to not have someone touching him so he seeks out Beat for cuddles. Even likes to hold hands with the rest of his friend group.

• Beat is paranoid that his boyfriend is gonna go missing again, for a while he doesn't really like letting Neku out of his sight and when he is, he'll text him often

• The carrot top doesn't even mind. They have a lot of time to make up for anyway so they go out together around the city tons since a lot has changed.

• They do the thing where they walk side by side holding hands and their hands are in a pocket

• They're just glued to each other at this point

• Beat is so hyped that there are songs that he knows that Neku doesn't know. He'll pop his headphones over Neku's ears and watch his reactions.

• Neku leans against Beat a lot, his head on his chest or laying on his shoulder

• Just, the softest of smooches while holding hands, they're so. Just so damn cute. Neku is totally weak to palm kisses and forehead kisses. Beat is weak to neck kisses and like peppering his face with kisses makes him so red and of course Neku loves to see it

• They're just so in love, that's it your honour

• Oh and they totally cuddle and make out on top of buildings (that's the dream for me man)

• and Neku steals Beat's jacket occasionally

• okay, that's actually it for now

Aight, time for headcannons of my childhood comfort couple

☠️BeatNeku🎧

(Post first UG game)

• When they're young, they suck at talking about their feelings but for different reasons

• Neku can't find the words and they just don't come out the way he wants them to despite all the songs he could take inspo from

• Beat just gets way too flustered, turns bright red, and stumbles over his words then frantically skates away

• Their confession is very clumsy. Neku is kind of awkward and Beat is loud.

• Dates usually consists of skateboarding, which Neku had to use Beat's shoulders or forearms for balance and boy, was the blonde aware of Neku's touch

• When Beat's upset for whatever reason, Neku doesn't want him to be alone with his emotions or thoughts so he finds his guy and if Beat doesn't feel like talking about it, Neku just sits next to him and puts on music

• Delinquent late night city shenanigans vibes from this pair

• Neku takes Beat to his first concert, Beat is addicted from then on

• Neku doesn't really like getting into the mosh pit but is always losing his skaterboy in the sea of teens

• Actions speak louder than words for them so they tend to be a little spontaneous, meeting up whenever, buying stuff for each other, going out to eat

• Neku totally started to take his hand at graffiti designs and Beat likes to watch him work, asks Neku if he could do a design for the underside of his board

• They gravitate to each other, always standing or sitting close to each other, shoulder to shoulder

• Neku will help Beat clasp his necklace and straighten the charm, somehow same energy as adjusting a tie

• Both were the type be like, "Ew, PDA" before they got together and now they're the type to not give a damn what anyone thinks. So full on hand holding and cuddles, baby

• Beat leans his weight on Neku a lot to harass him and will frequently rest his chin on the top of Neku's head just because he's tall enough too

• Neku's revenge is ruffling the other's hair up and Beat absolutely hates it or Beat will be try to show him a new trick he learned and Neku will act like he didn't see it

((Just some stuff I think about sometimes, I love them very much and I'll probably do more later lol 🎧🖤☠️
