Been chipping away at a new fan mail comic and got the linework finalized last night, so you can probably expect to see the finished thing in a week or two.

Took a short break after finishing the big Uyo project and now I'm busier than ever. I'm midway through another short comic, I've finally started on my journey of learning to code and make games in Godot, and I'm thinking of giving 3D art another go as well.
Wild times ahead!

Happy Valentine's Day! And also happy anniversary to Uyo's big redesign from last year.
To celebrate, here's the 11-page guide Uyo created to teach everyone about her religion. Though English isn't her native language, so she had to get some help with localization.
Alright, breaking character, this was a lot of fun to write. As the first page hints at, this is a guide with an unreliable author. Basically, Manetoa told her a few things before going back to sleep, and Uyo let her imagination run wild and filled in the rest on her own. Everything's been so filtered through Uyo's rose-tinted perception and personal desires that it's impossible to distinguish fact from fiction anymore. Heck, there's not even any guarantee that Manetoa's words to her weren't a little embellished as well...
Uyo believes in her perception of Manetoa so fervently, and Manetoa is so powerless to try to wrangle her, that it's basically become more her religion than his. And if fervent belief and worship can empower gods to change reality, maybe the same can be true for mortals...

So I guess Bluesky's finally open to the public. I have nothing posted yet, but I figured I should just get in now before someone swoops in and takes my handle like what happened when I made my Twitter lol.
Probably won't go through the hassle of copying over my whole archive there, especially not before I know if bsky will even stick long-term as a platform, though maybe I'll repost some of the highlights at least.
But for now, I'll probably be using it as a second Twitter, for anyone who wants that sort of experience but doesn't like Twitter. It's pretty much like what I post here, but a bit more interactive rather than just posting art and updates, since Twitter/Bsky actually have proper comment/thread features.

Working through the coloring stage on Uyo's religion guide. Hoping to have the whole thing done in time for Valentine's Day, which is also the anniversary of Uyo's design overhaul from last year.

New Year's Resolution
Happy New Year! 2023 was a really good year for me personally, professionally, and especially for my online art stuff. I brought Eva and David back to incredibly positive reception last year, started getting fan mail for my characters, made a good amount of art that I'm really happy with, and got a ton of new followers. Here's hoping for another good year in 2024.
Now for resolutions. Last year's resolution was to up my amount of art that I post with smaller-scale stuff and more WIP sketches for larger projects, and I think I did a decent enough job despite how busy I was last year.
This year's resolution...I want to finally dip my toes into game dev stuff. I already work on games as an artist professionally, so I've got a good head start, but I want to get more acquainted with the dev side of things as well. No plans to make a whole proper game, I just want to learn and maybe do some really small experimental stuff for fun.

As promised, I'm back to working on the guide to Uyo's religion. To celebrate, here's another WIP, this time of the cover page. I originally wasn't even planning on having a cover page, but I really like how this is coming along.

Whenever I find reposts of my work on other websites (usually it's Lily, for some reason), it's always really entertaining seeing people who are totally outside my usual demographics reacting to my stuff, especially the critics who assume the actual artist is never gonna see 'em.
Like I found something recently where someone on another site was going on a rant about Lily's scissors being impractical, and even going so far as getting into ranting about classic horror and zombie tropes and making a bunch of weird assumptions about the design philosophy. Meanwhile, I'm just sitting there silently watching this all unfold and turn into an argument involving more and more people all making their own assumptions defending or attacking the design, and I'm not about to make an account on a new site just to join in on the brawl.
But since you all follow me here, you get exclusive access to the true story behind the mystery of "Why would she use ill-fitted, rusty old scissors for cutting stitches instead of simply going to the store and buying better ones?". And the big answer is...
She's a zombie...and people generally don't like doing business with zombies. And stealing goes against her morals, so she kinda just has to make do with whatever discarded junk she can get her hands on. It seems like such an obvious answer, and that's not the only strange criticism Lily's gotten from people who seemingly didn't take into account that she's undead. But honestly, the beautiful (and sometimes funny) thing about art is that everyone interprets it in their own ways.
With all that said, I really don't mind people criticizing my stuff, I'm a tough cookie. So I hope nobody sees this as a call to "defend me from the haters" or whatever, hence why I left out any identifying details. I just thought it was a funny situation that was worth sharing.

Happy Halloween! It's a miracle I got this done in time with how busy I've been this past month, but here it is!
"Eva trying to scare trick-or-treaters" was the winning audience suggestion in this year's Halloween art poll. Thanks to everyone who participated, it was a lot of fun!
Eva actually got a bunch of audience suggestions that didn't make the cut since I wanted to limit it to one option per character in the poll. But I ended up finding ways to incorporate some of them into the final comic as well. She really got so popular in such a short time lol.

Halloween Poll Results
The final results are in, and the rankings (across all platforms) are:
1. Eva - 44
2. Roll - 37
3. Lina - 22
4. Ren - 9
That means Eva will be the star of this year's Halloween art! But don't worry, Roll fans. It was such a close race, I decided I'll make hers too, afterward.
Eva's piece will be out on Halloween, so keep an eye out 👁️ And then I'll do Roll's after I finish Uyo's Holy Texts that I'd put on hold from before the event.
Thanks everyone who contributed ideas and voted for their favorites! These Halloween events are always lots of fun!

Here's where the rankings stand now:
1. Eva - 42
2. Roll - 34
3. Lina - 20
4. Ren - 9
Eva's fans have rallied to give her a more commanding lead, but Roll can still come back if her fans rally as well. You've got about 24 hours to get your votes in before the poll closes!
Halloween Event Poll
There were so many good ideas, but I had to narrow it down to only 4 to keep the poll manageable. So I picked the ones I thought were most entertaining and most Halloween-y, and I wanted each option to feature a different character.

Midpoint rankings update (across all platforms):
1. Eva - 34 votes
2. Roll - 32 votes
3. Lina - 17 votes
4. Ren - 8 votes
Be sure to get your votes in if you haven't already, because it's looking like a difference of only a few votes may end up deciding the winner!

Reminder that today is the last day to get your requests in (also early tomorrow I guess). Then tomorrow I'll be putting up a poll for people to vote on their favorite suggestions.

It's finally time for the annual special spooky art event!
First off, I'll be taking suggestions from the audience for what I should draw. In the next week, comment or send a DM with any Halloween-themed ideas you have involving any of my characters, and I'll pick my favorites.
