Me as a whumper: “You know, I think there’s just too many whumpers in the torture chamber. Too many hands on the knife, as it were. Two’s company, three’s a crowd, and any more than that and you have to start signing NDAs and hurting people. Er…more people.”

I love it when whumpee shows up at caretakers doorstep so exhausted they pass out as soon as they know they're safe. Now caretaker sits by their bedside trying to guess all the worst case things that could have happened until whumpee wakes up and explains themselves.

A Whumpee who has a crush on Caretaker, and Whumpee, being a romantic, wants them to be their knight in shining armor. So they do stupid dangerous shit so that Caretaker can swoop in and save them.

...And this time, Whumpee ended up in an actual dangerous situation and got hurt in the process. When Caretaker rescues them, they scold Whumpee for being so reckless all the time, along with how they got scared for Whumpee's safety.

Cue guilt from Whumpee.

Whump Word Chain!

Strong/powerful whumpees being held as trophies. They are showcased in front of anyone the Whumper wants to in-still fear in.

Whumper doesn’t ask Whumpee to do anything. Just stay silent. Stay still.

Maybe Whumpee is chained up, kept in a glass box?

Maybe Whumpee is muzzled?

Whumpee is kept weak so they can’t fight back. Drugged? Starved? Your choice.

Whumper wants them displayed to show their dominance. The ability to contain someone so powerful like it’s nothing.

Reckless

Dialogue Prompts for reckless self-sacrifice:

"Did it just not cross your mind that some of us care about whether you live to see next week or not?"

"...Hey, no - don't try it. Just, just stop, I know what you're thinking, but please don't--"

"You're walking a thin line between casual self-endangerment and reckless self-destruction."

I'm a big fan of hurt/comfort tropes where the hurt is ongoing and escalating. Characters trying to cope with their situation and insisting that it's fine, they're fine, even as things get worse and worse and worse - especially if no one around them knows what they're going through.

Characters hiding their illness, even as they grow sicker and sicker. Characters trying to cope as their homelife becomes increasingly abusive or neglectful. Characters ignoring their injuries, only for them to become infected. Characters being stalked/ tormented by a villain and pretending that everything is fine, even as the villain continues escalating. Characters left homeless as winter approaches and their money dwindles.

I could go on. There's something very satisfying about seeing a character frantically trying to pretend like everything is okay until eventually they can't hide it anymore and get caught (and helped) by the people around them.

Whumpee who cries.

Whumpee who cries in great, violent, racking sobs that shake their whole chest.

Whumpee who cries silently, tears rolling down their face as they refuse to move of make a sound.

Whumpee who hugs themself and curls into a ball as they cry.

Whumpee who cries so hard for so long their whole face and head hurt.

Whumpee with eyes that are bloodshot from crying, and their face is sticky with tears.

Whumpee who cries until they can't cry any more, only twitching and making little sobbing noises while no tears come.
