“I’d rather be dead than stay in a coma,” Aline said thoughtfully. “Coma’s bit of a downer.”

“Same here. I’m out too,” Alec chimed in, taking another bite of his apple.

“Not allowed.”

Alec raised his head to find Magnus at the door.

His hair looks a bit out of place, which is a bit weird since he’s Magnus and he always, always has perfect hair. And yet, he looked fucking gorgeous for someone who just pulled a 24-hour shift.

Alec tried not to swoon too publicly and averted his gaze, which was quite hard to do.

“What’s not allowed?”

“You dying.”

A smirk appeared on Jace’s face—actually, smirks never left Jace’s face.

“Are you talking to someone specific?”

Magnus grinned mischievously and stole the coffee from Jace’s hand, who whined in response.

“Thank you, blondie. And no, I’m talking to all of you.”

“We aren’t allowed to die?” Aline raised an eyebrow.
