The Alleys of Temma, Osaka November 2018 Temma (天満) gets its name from the Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, which was founded in the 10th Century. It is a well-known shrine of the Shinto deity of scholarship, Sugawara Michizane. But this post is not about the shrine but the narrow streets and alleyways that only come out of bed at dusk. These alleys meander out from the Temma Station playing landlord to a host of bars, hole-in-the-wall joints, butchers, an old haberdasher, florists and of course, bars, restaurants and izakayas.
