Erin in the Morning does a great job dismantling a yet another attempt by transphobes to make their views look valid and based in science, not ignorance.

“Gender ideology” - it’s something most people who use the Internet have seen and heard many times throughout the last few years. Despite its rather widespread use, this term lacks a coherent definition and serves primarily as a buzzword to perpetuate harmful stereotypes and promote discrimination. It’s an invention of those who seek to dictate how others should live their lives and control their bodies, rather than respecting individual autonomy and diversity; it exists solely to justify discrimination and marginalisation.
Just yesterday, the Pope described gender ideology as “the worst danger” facing humanity, claiming it seeks to “erase the difference between men and women” and ultimately “erase humanity” - statement that is about as ignorant as it gets.
It has been long since established and scientifically proven that gender is not a binary construct but rather a spectrum, encompassing a wide range of identities beyond the traditional categories of male and female. To suggest that acknowledging and affirming this diversity somehow threatens humanity is not only nonsensical but also harmful - it erases the lived experiences of countless individuals who do not fit neatly into narrow societal norms and it does no good to anyone.
In reality, celebrating and cherishing our differences enriches humanity, promoting empathy, understanding and compassion, building a better future for everybody.
