For anyone who doesn't live with children or watch cartoons on a regular basis, Nickelodeon went off the air for 8 minutes and 46 seconds today. During that time, instead of playing shows or commercials, there was a Nickelodeon orange background with scrolling and repeating messages about racial equality, the right to education, and the right to be safe from harm and hatred.
For those who aren't aware, as I wasn't until I googled it, 8 minutes and 46 seconds was the exact amount of time that George Floyd was pinned on the ground.
There's nothing subtle about this and I'm just. Shocked. In a good way of course, I've just never seen this sort of rallying behind a race-based social movement.
currently: having a break down because i don’t know what university to go to, trying to sort out student finance and accommodation.
i’m stuck between two uni’s and i’m making pro and con lists for them... i really hate this whole ‘growing up’ thing can someone do this for me instead? lol
i started a private snap story with film recs lol, although i think the people who wanted to be on that story are now regretting it after i went on a tangent about hannibal (the show and the movies)- which are greatly under appreciated btw ... sorry not sorry to those people on that story now ahaha
my birthday came and went, I'm officially 18 and two days lol... to sum up my birthday, i bought my car :) using my own money, with a little help from my parents, as a present. im so grateful for my parents as they obviously love me and i know that they’d do anything for me, I'm so lucky :’)
also had a delicious red velvet cake and a friend dropped by a few presents which was lovely, had my first ‘legal’ drink with my parents and all was pretty good :)
and although yeah circumstances suck because of quarantine and the fact i couldn't see anyone, it was a fun day and im happy.
That point in a piece of fanfiction where you can tell something embarrassing is about to happen so you start fucking around on tumblr because you’re a huge baby with a crippling overabudance of empathy.
