Currently watching MHA right now (saw the first six episodes) and like. Can someone please tell me what’s so bad about Deku as a character??? Like legit I see a lot of videos trashing on him as a character saying he’s an awful protagonist and then I watch the actual show and he’s fine…? Like he’s an underdog that’s easy to root for an his arc seems compelling enough, plus his awkwardness makes him endlessly endearing. Does he get worse later on in the story or….?

Pretty sure I'm not the person this post is refering to, but since those are opinions that I share, I want to explain why in the year 2024 there are still people who say those things.
N. 1 Yes, Hordak is the leader of an evil empire that used child soldiers and Catra was one of them. No, it was still not okay for Catra to take his crystal. The first time she did it, Hordak was just going to sit on his throne, but Catra attacked him and took the crystal that powered his armor. Then she forced Hordak to listen to her and convinced him to keep going with the conquest of the planet.
Catra's didn't do that to avenge the poor child soldiers who grew up in the Horde, nor to stop Hordak from hurting civillians. She did it because of selfish reasons that lead to the conquest of Salineas.
The second time Catra did that was so unnecessary. She already destroyed Hordak's arm cannon, punched his face and dropped a big piece of metal on him. There was no need to take his crystal too. Hordak being a villain doesn't make it okay to take advantage of his disability. I bet that if the roles were inverted, everyone would have agreed it was a horrible thing to do, even for a bad guy.
N. 2 Catra and Adora are sisters. The fact they're also a couple is what makes their ship incestuos. Those who actively chose to ignore canon are c//a shippers. They pretend like Adora and Catra didn't saw Shadow Weaver as their mother figure. She called Adora her child on screen and Adora admitted she was like a mother to her.
Catra's character is essencially the "mom always loved you more than me" thrope. She desperately wanted Shadow Weaver to love and value her like she did with Adora. Catra resented Adora for being her favorite and they had a golden child//scapegoat siblings dynamic.
Ah but c//a antis are the dumb ones for translating all these informations wrong! Maybe looking at what the shippers say about Shadow Weaver's relationship with Adora and Catra will change my mind. . .Wait, why do the things I find only confirm what I said? All the posts about how Catra just wanted Shadow Weaver to love her like her child, Catra stans saying they relate to her because they were abused by a parental figure as well, even silly comics where Shadow Weaver is framed like a homophobic mom.
What could that mean?🤔
