I'm thinking about how Matthew's perfectionism has always gotten in the way of all his hobbies. He tells James in Nothing but Shadows that he can't draw, can't write prose or poetry, can't compose or do anything like that, and, even without counting the fact that he is literally 13 and shouldn't expect to be good at those things anyway, you just know he probably only tried each of those things once or twice before giving up because he wasn't immediately good at them so for him that meant he had failed and couldn't be good ever and he was only good to watch the arts he loved from afar (spectate).

The only hobby he ever had was baking and only because no one else knew. Since it wasn't something anyone expected of him, he could do it in secret with no pressure, and allow Cook to teach him slowly because he was just "helping" her.

And then he lost it too by accidentally poisioning his mom and being too traumatised to ever do it again

Matthew saying “There is joy in being with someone you love, even knowing you can never have them, even knowing they will never love you back” and “I suppose I merely thought it would be enough for you to know. That you might — if anything were to happen to me, you would remember I loved you desperately” in the book preceding “Am I so hard to love?” actually hurts so bad

I just wanted to say before this month draws to a close how important it is to me personally as an autistic person and to the autism community as a whole to have autistic characters in the media, not just for representation but to work towards acceptance and ending stereotypes. I am so grateful to have Ty Blackthorn as a canonical autistic character and to see how much the fandom embraces him and accepts him for who he is, and that he has a love interest like Kit Herondale who loves him exactly the way he is and would never try to change anything about him. I am grateful for Cassie for doing her best to have authentic autism representation in her books, and I can’t wait to see Ty as a main character in TWP ❤️❤️❤️

(As a side note, I’m always happy to offer advice/be a firsthand source for anyone writing autistic characters, tsc related or otherwise!)

It's so funny to me seeing people trying to justify Jesse when he treats Grace like shit in the cell like he didn’t side with the Herondales, whom he'd known for like 3 days, only because the Herondales are fan favourite, Jesse is Cassandra's favourite and she wants to force both the readers and the characters to like him.

i was minding my business working on an essay and i suddenly remembered that will is never going to hold mina in his arms or play with her, he’ll never be present in her life like jem (as brother zachariah) was with james and lucie. he would’ve loved mina so much. and jem and tessa will live the rest of their lives without will ever being there again. will’s random demon pox singing, his hilarious poetry, they’ll only ever be a memory. will herondale will never live with a healthy jem carstairs. i’m shattered

personally the fairstairs vibe I wanted was besties who make out at parties to distract each other when they're sad and nothing more but unfortunately miss cassandra did not see the vision
